Penny is a special girl looking for a special someone to open their heart and home. She is a beautiful, black shepherd mix but smaller than you'd expect, weighing 45 pounds. Penny will do best in a home without other dogs, no cats, and without small children. Penny was originally adopted in early 2020 from All Dog, started having trouble with the other dog in the house; resource guarding toys, food and her people, and was returned to All Dog in 2023. Penny can play with dogs outdoors one-on-one, she and one of the resident foster dogs are best friends, but only when they're outside. Penny is very affectionate with her people, loves to be outside, walks well on a leash, is house trained and crate trained although she prefers to not be crated and doesn't really need to be. Penny's perfect home is one where she is the only animal, there aren't any children, and her people are committed to training Penny to help her be the best dog she can be. June 4, 2024, 3:45 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    DOB:  08/08/2018 Requires another dog in home: No Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: No, has high prey-drive Okay with children under 12 years old: Older, respectful kids, yes Weight: 58 pounds Requires a fenced yard:  no, but working on leash training Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Hello, my name is Ivy. I am a lovely young adult female Lab/Shepherd mix who loves eating all treats (who doesn’t LOL!!), tearing stuffed toys apart, sleeping and hunting squirrels. Foster mom says I am in charge of the backyard activity and do my best to keep the squirrels out of the yard. I would love a fenced in yard to explore, but also love going for walks, so it's not required as long as you promise we can take some short walks each day! As you have probably already figured out, I have a high prey drive, so small kids and cats are not a good fit for me. Ok, truth be told, I don’t “hunt” the kids, just the cats but still, I am not crazy about those quick moving kids.  If they were older and respectful, I think we would be besties! I am very friendly with people, but I am a bit wary of dogs that I meet on my walks. I sometimes growl and bark at the neighbor dog or if something alarms me. However, I do fine with other dogs if there is no barrier between us and I have gotten along with all the dogs who have come to visit my home. My mom fosters other dogs and has friends that visit with dog, and we all get along great. I am crate and potty trained and working on leash training. At times I am a bit loud when on the leash and will yell at other dogs. Although I enjoy pulling on the leash, foster mom is trying to help me learn that she is the leader on our walks not me…she’s so silly, she doesn’t know me at ALL!!! I am super smart girl! I know what to do when mom says “sit,” “stay,” “come,” “outside,” “go potty,” and “off.” Alright, if you REALLY must know, I learned the “off” command because I tend to jump on people when I get excited…I mean c’mon, seriously is it really that bad?? Mom has made it clear, by saying “off” and gently using her knee, that jumping on people is frowned upon in this establishment.  Anyway, mom says that I “must have had training before” because I am the “easiest foster” she’s “ever had” and that’s quite a compliment! But I would really benefit from additional training to continue learning new things like safe leash walking and maybe some tricks! My trip from a Texas shelter to MN was an adventure. When I arrived in MN my friends at Underdog discovered I was heartworm positive and I have finished the treatment and now I just dream of finding a furever home with a patient person who will shower me with unconditional love and will not give up on me. If you are looking for a wonderful companion who can’t wait to snuggle on the couch or bed, then we need to meet. I promise I will love you more than you can imagine!! Love, Ivy.   Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Story
Welcome Picasso to CCPAL Rescue. He is a 2 year old Lab/Rottie or Shepherd mix. He is 2 years old and weighs about 50 pounds. He is good on a leash and friendly with other dogs. He loves water and loves to play in the hose water when the kennel is being cleaned. He loves his kennel and will stay in it even when the door is open. He met Apple and Serenity while on leash and was not leash reactive. He was all smiles and tails wagging. He is vaccinated and neutered and looking for his forever home. He would be fine as a family pet. We like the children to be 8 or older. The nice thing about an adult dog is their personality is formed and you know what you are getting. He has some skills like kennel training and leash walking. We know he isn’t leash reactive and was friendly when meeting new dogs. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally. We can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Welcome Cowboy to CCPAL Foster Program. Cowboy is an 6-month old pup. He has an adorable and large head. I call these man dogs because my husband loves them. He weighs about 37 pounds now but we think will be 50 full grown. He is a Lab/Staffie or Pittien or maybe Rottie is our guess. He does know the sit command and is attentive when you are directing him. He has a nice amount of attention and it is not too short but he can hold it while you work with him. He is adorable, affectionate and has the cute wrinkles on his forehead that make him look concerned. He has brown eyes and a little white patch on his chin that look like a milk beard. He is the typical puppy and is energetic, inquisitive and in need of direction. He is willing to learn and takes direction well. He already knows the sit command. He has a lower or shorter coat and not a big shedding dog. He would be great for an active outdoorsy type family. Now he will settle down and his energy is not over the top. It is a good amount of energy for an 8-month old puppy. He is getting his vaccinations and will be neutered soon and ready for his forever home. He is good in car rides, good with cats and decent on a leash. He is fine in a crate and moderately vocal and will use his voice to get attention. He would be fine with children. He is not overly mouthy. We like the children to be 8 or older. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. So stop me if you have heard this one...... I was walking down the road, minding my own business when BAM! I was hit by a car!!! You haven't heard this one yet??? Well, sit back and relax and let me tell you my story of despair and hard work and now, REDEMPTION!!! Yes, I was literally minding my own business- I was searching for food, water and maybe some love in the mean streets... The car accident actually SAVED my life and now I am in my foster home and it is SO AWESOME!!! BUT, I have a forever home out there looking for a hard working, happy and SWEET fuzzy (a little gray)face and I am going to find you! I am such a good girl, smart and sweet and huggable. I have been through alot of recovery and am getting around great (see I was partially paralyzed for a month or two after the accident) but with the knowledge and love of my foster family I WALK again! I am pretty independent now and ready for the COUCH of my dreams! Look at my video and see how far I have come. I am great with other dogs, all people and for my safety sake would LOVE a KID OF MY OWN!! I actually am AMAZING WITH SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS :) I just seem to have a special connection with the special kids and sure hope to find one to be my bestest friend!! In return for your family and love I will give you my WHOLE life of love and happiness. I mean, look into my gorgeous soulful eyes and ADOPT ME!!! My foster mom can tell you all about who I am and you can decide to adopt me! ***This dog has a special need from her family. Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)
