Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   This big, goofy boy is all about loving you! He was rescued from a pound in KY. Artie is between 1-2yrs old and weighs around 90lbs, but that doesn’t stop him from wanting to snuggle in your lap and giving you kisses. He will snuggle with you on the couch or even take long, lazy naps with you in bed. He is super friendly with everyone he meets, he even visits at a local nursing home. He was previously fostered in a home with children and did well.  Artie loves running and exploring and due to his size, he would benefit from a fenced in yard to get plenty of exercise. He does well in his kennel while his foster parents are at work, with no accidents. Artie loves playing with his other foster siblings in the fenced in yard and does well at the dog park, but in the home he can get jealous over toys and treats and even of your attention. He would preferably do best as the only dog in the home, but could potentially do ok with a smaller, more submissive dog. Interested in adopting? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Hi, I'm Emerson! I am a 1 year old, 34 lb mixed breed gal who came to MN from Kentucky and am currenty in a temporary foster home - looking for a foster home or my forever home. I am glossy black, with just a sprinkle of white, powdered sugar on my nose, tail and back toe tips. I have a white chest and a little white racing stripe under my chin; it helps me run fast! My favorite body part is my corkscrew tail! I am a gentle playing gal and enjoy relaxing in my crate when I have some down time. I’m a curious gal and like to follow you around and watch what you’re doing. I do have a voice and enjoy conversing, so I would like a family who wants a talker! I sleep all night in my crate and also like to take naps in there. My hobbies include living room rug wrestling, gnawing on a good bone, and doing yoga stretches in the yard.   I really like walks - it helps with my puppy energy and I have get to see many squirrels on our walks. I am developing very good walking manners! I would do well in a house with other dog(s), of similar size, and I have met a few human kids and have had no issues with them. I ride very well in the car, with a seatbelt strap too! Interested in fostering or adopting? He is great with other dogs and has a healthy respect for cats. Cheeto would make a wonderful family dog. He lives with a 14 year old and parents right now. He would be a great buddy to an existing dog and/or could be an only dog. He has a young spirit and is puppy like, playful, happy in his outlook. She loves riding in the car. If the weather allows, she’s a great dog to go on errands with. I think she’s happier that she was brought along rather than left alone at home. Millie is house trained and at this time she requires an insulin shot right after she eats in the morning and 10-12 hours later, with dinner-she requires special diabetic dog food. Approximate monthly cost of her medications and prescription food is $335.She gets along well with other dogs she can be a bit too much for smaller dogs. and cats are unknown. She can be very vocal when hungry or when she has to go outside. Her best bet is a fenced yard that she can be just let out to go potty when she needs to.  Millie will need to continue to work with a Veterinarian to keep her diabetes regulated so she can live a long happy life.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Story
Hi! I'm Buddy. I am a black lab born in mid Feb. 2022. Unfortunately, I didn't have the best start as something happened when I was with the breeder where I stopped walking at around 4 weeks of age. I don't remember what, and unfortunately nothing was done to figure out how to help me. A local friend heard about me and was able to get the breeder to surrender me -- I was 5.5 months old at that time. I could kinda walk, but mostly scooted (or as my foster calls it - slinking) around with both my rear legs out to the side. They then let me go to NDLB where I started getting the care I needed.  My rear right leg had minimal muscle mass and my joints wouldn't bend, so I just swung it if I was walking. My rear left leg had better muscle mass and movement. The vet recommended amputate the rear right. Once I healed up from that, I was actually able to walk/hop a little better since I didn't have that hard weight on the side.  I am going through home physical therapy where my foster is doing a range of movement on my rear leg and playing with my toes a lot. (I like to lick her in the face - I mean, it tickles!) The physical therapist we saw recommends moving that leg a lot and playing with toes so I can remember it's there. It would be recommended to continue seeing a professional physical therapist as well - as they are optimistic that I won't need a wheelchair later in life. If I can get a few good steps in, I can walk pretty good. However, I am a lab and get excited too quickly sometimes and end up slinking my way around some times.  With my disability in walking the greatest, I am NOT potty trained. I may never be potty trained unfortunately. So I'm sorry about that. I don't realize I am going most of the time and will continue walking. I am also unable to walk on hardwood/linoleum/non-carpeted floors or go down stairs. So I will need to be carried down stairs (inside & outside). I am working on going up them however, and do need help with just slightly holding my hips. However, I have been doing the first two stairs by myself - carpeted as well as outside stairs! My foster momma is super proud of that.  Despite all of that, I love everyone I meet. I love kids and adults. I love playing with other dogs. I also love playing fetch (though it's more you tossing and helping me up from me slinking). I haven't met any cats so I don't know how I would be with them. I do bark in my kennel when I hear someone, when it's food time, when I've peed/pooped in the kennel, or at various times. I ride great in the car - tethered to a seat or in a crate. I'm fine as long as I get to go somewhere with you. I do have a special "Help Em Up" harness that will go with me when I am adopted. I have been in my foster home for over a year now. I can go up the stairs (as long as they are carpeted, longer flights (4+) I may need help on. I still don't like slippery floors. I am better in the kennel and don't bark as much. However, I do still go to the bathroom wherever, but I seem to know when I'm going and not walking around during it as much. Do you think you have room for a special needs boy who has an amazing heart? Lou is your social butterfly born approx. 11/2/23, who is NOT afraid to get into playtime with dogs much bigger than he.  Once he is comfortable, he is the life of the party! He will not potty in his crate & will sleep nicely in it all night (up to 9 hours). He doesn’t like going in his crate when he isn’t tired & will make quite a fuss (interesting warbly howls), however, we are feeding & giving treats when in kennel, so he will learn its not a terrible place. He is pretty independent and loves exploring outside & is usually the first to potty when he goes out! He loves other dogs & people. He has not been around kids, to my knowledge, but he would probably love them, as much as everyone else. He'd love to meet you!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Hi! My name is Byron. I am a cute cuddly little lab/husky mix born approx. 9/10/23. My favorite thing to do is snuggle with my foster mom and my sister Basil. I love to run around the yard with the big dogs and then crash in a nice fluffy bed. I do have a voice and love to use it when it’s meal time. I am doing really well with kennel training as long as there is a nice fluffy blanket in there and a fur friend nearby. I am doing amazing with my basic commands and leash training. I have mastered “Sit” and “Lay down”. I am learning to potty outside and do great with it on a schedule. I do great with other dogs and kids. My foster mom doesn’t have cats, so she doesn’t know how well I would do with them. I love to ride in the car and go on adventures. If you are looking for an adventure buddy, then I’m your guy! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
