She loves riding in the car. If the weather allows, she’s a great dog to go on errands with. I think she’s happier that she was brought along rather than left alone at home. Millie is house trained and at this time she requires an insulin shot right after she eats in the morning and 10-12 hours later, with dinner-she requires special diabetic dog food. Approximate monthly cost of her medications and prescription food is $335.She gets along well with other dogs she can be a bit too much for smaller dogs. and cats are unknown. She can be very vocal when hungry or when she has to go outside. Her best bet is a fenced yard that she can be just let out to go potty when she needs to.  Millie will need to continue to work with a Veterinarian to keep her diabetes regulated so she can live a long happy life.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Story
Hi! I'm Buddy. I am a black lab born in mid Feb. 2022. Unfortunately, I didn't have the best start as something happened when I was with the breeder where I stopped walking at around 4 weeks of age. I don't remember what, and unfortunately nothing was done to figure out how to help me. A local friend heard about me and was able to get the breeder to surrender me -- I was 5.5 months old at that time. I could kinda walk, but mostly scooted (or as my foster calls it - slinking) around with both my rear legs out to the side. They then let me go to NDLB where I started getting the care I needed.  My rear right leg had minimal muscle mass and my joints wouldn't bend, so I just swung it if I was walking. My rear left leg had better muscle mass and movement. The vet recommended amputate the rear right. Once I healed up from that, I was actually able to walk/hop a little better since I didn't have that hard weight on the side.  I am going through home physical therapy where my foster is doing a range of movement on my rear leg and playing with my toes a lot. (I like to lick her in the face - I mean, it tickles!) The physical therapist we saw recommends moving that leg a lot and playing with toes so I can remember it's there. It would be recommended to continue seeing a professional physical therapist as well - as they are optimistic that I won't need a wheelchair later in life. If I can get a few good steps in, I can walk pretty good. However, I am a lab and get excited too quickly sometimes and end up slinking my way around some times.  With my disability in walking the greatest, I am NOT potty trained. I may never be potty trained unfortunately. So I'm sorry about that. I don't realize I am going most of the time and will continue walking. I am also unable to walk on hardwood/linoleum/non-carpeted floors or go down stairs. So I will need to be carried down stairs (inside & outside). I am working on going up them however, and do need help with just slightly holding my hips. However, I have been doing the first two stairs by myself - carpeted as well as outside stairs! My foster momma is super proud of that.  Despite all of that, I love everyone I meet. I love kids and adults. I love playing with other dogs. I also love playing fetch (though it's more you tossing and helping me up from me slinking). I haven't met any cats so I don't know how I would be with them. I do bark in my kennel when I hear someone, when it's food time, when I've peed/pooped in the kennel, or at various times. I ride great in the car - tethered to a seat or in a crate. I'm fine as long as I get to go somewhere with you. I do have a special "Help Em Up" harness that will go with me when I am adopted. I have been in my foster home for over a year now. I can go up the stairs (as long as they are carpeted, longer flights (4+) I may need help on. I still don't like slippery floors. I am better in the kennel and don't bark as much. However, I do still go to the bathroom wherever, but I seem to know when I'm going and not walking around during it as much. Do you think you have room for a special needs boy who has an amazing heart? Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Lou is your social butterfly born approx. 11/2/23, who is NOT afraid to get into playtime with dogs much bigger than he.  Once he is comfortable, he is the life of the party! He will not potty in his crate & will sleep nicely in it all night (up to 9 hours). He doesn’t like going in his crate when he isn’t tired & will make quite a fuss (interesting warbly howls), however, we are feeding & giving treats when in kennel, so he will learn its not a terrible place. He is pretty independent and loves exploring outside & is usually the first to potty when he goes out! He loves other dogs & people. He has not been around kids, to my knowledge, but he would probably love them, as much as everyone else. He'd love to meet you!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. I love to run zoomies around the yard and then fall asleep in a nice fluffy bed. I’m a huge snuggler and will fall asleep on my foster mom’s lap. I do have a voice but don’t use it often. I love to go on walks and explore. Let’s be honest, I love everything! I love kids, dogs, blankets(fluffier the better), food and treats. I also give the best hugs! Hi! My name is Byron. I am a cute cuddly little lab/husky mix born approx. 9/10/23. My favorite thing to do is snuggle with my foster mom and my sister Basil. I love to run around the yard with the big dogs and then crash in a nice fluffy bed. I do have a voice and love to use it when it’s meal time. I am doing really well with kennel training as long as there is a nice fluffy blanket in there and a fur friend nearby. I am doing amazing with my basic commands and leash training. I have mastered “Sit” and “Lay down”. I am learning to potty outside and do great with it on a schedule. I do great with other dogs and kids. My foster mom doesn’t have cats, so she doesn’t know how well I would do with them. I love to ride in the car and go on adventures. If you are looking for an adventure buddy, then I’m your guy! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Regina found herself unwanted and surrendered in West Texas. She is good with other dogs, kids and cats are unknown. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training. Gigi is perfection. Sweet and loving, she can't get enough attention, kisses, or pets. She gets along with other dogs and is good with kids but would do better with older kids. If you're having a lazy day she will cuddle all day long. If you're full of energy, she'll keep right up with you. She will be your best friend and stick to you like glue.  She's shown a little bit of human resource guarding or protective nature. She would do good with an experienced dog owner.  She loves to play with her two foster brothers and she doesn't let them get the better of her. She will entertain herself with toys or play for ages with other dogs. She's feisty, sweet, and full of love to give. She is very treat motivated and eager to learn new things.   She's great on a leash, but she does get distracted by squirrels or other small animals. Simply remind her to 'look at me' and attention goes back to you. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Chickadee and her siblings Finch and BlueBird found themselves unwanted and dumped at a Vet Clinic in West Texas. They were bound for the high kill shelter if we did not say yes.  They were brought in with injuries and thankful they are all healed up and healthy.  Ready for their forever homes.  They are good with other dogs and kids, cats are unknown. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training.  Chickadee can be slow to warm up to strangers but has been going to dog friendly events and is getting better with her shyness of strangers. This beautiful girl is potty and crate trained. She gets along with other dogs and loves to run and tumble with her foster dog brothers. She has been exposed few short times to cats and seems to have a healthy respect towards them. She has stayed a a home with a 5 & 7 year old and she loves the kids. Chickadee once she gets to know you( which does not take long) is a loving and loyal dog. She likes to learn and would be a fun dog to take to dog school. Chickadee spent a week as an only dog in a home with 2 young boys and did very well with them. The following from the family that watched her for that week: My family had the pleasure of watching Chickadee for a week in March. I was expecting Chickadee to take at least a couple of days to settle in, but she seemed comfortable and content after just a few hours. She was very quiet overall, and I only heard her bark once or twice during her time with us. While at home she loved to curl up on the rug in our living room or sit on a bench in the kitchen so she could look outside. She also enjoyed lounging on the bed in my sons’ room and seemed to want to be where we were hanging out. We weren’t sure how Chickadee would do with younger children (ages 5 and 6) since she hadn’t spent much time around kids, but the boys instantly took to her and she to them. She allowed them to hug, kiss, and pet her and was tolerant of their high energy and near constant movement. It was fun to witness their bond develop throughout Chickadee’s visit. Chickadee did great on walks around the neighborhood. She didn’t pay much attention to people or pups walking past. She did warm up to folks at the bus stop after a day or so and showed more confidence when around them. She also loved hanging out in our fenced-in backyard. She found a spot right in the middle of our garden-area where she would plop down and nap in the sun. We had a snowstorm at the end of Chickadee’s stay and she seemed to equally love the  If she's what you have been looking for, please put in your application on our website https://mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 26, 2024, 10:27 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $400 plus taxCypress aka Ciao is the coolest dog! He’s a mix breed and about 2 years old. We’ve had him for a little over a year.  He has lived with 5 other dogs and loves them dearly.  Ciao needs a home with less stimulation. He  was just at a board and train program and did wonderfully. He’s working on leash training, the command come and calming down when guests come over. He gets SO excited when anyone comes over that he gets a bit mouthy at the person entering the home. It’s hard to train him not to do this when all 5 of the other dogs rush the door at the same time too! It’s totally trainable just hard given our set up. He loves the dog park and other dogs. He gets so excited to meet them and sometimes plays a little rough but again it’s trainable and we’re working on it. I spoke to our trainer and he said that whoever adopts Ciao will be able to come to his facility or he can come to you and teach you everything Ciao knows as far as training goes. He has a cushy life at our home. He gets an hour walk everyday, sleeps with us, roams free in the house all day, plays with his brothers and sisters and I work from home 80% of the time so someone is usually home and he’s not left alone for too long. He needs a walk at least everyday but would love acreage for him to run. He would also like another friend to play with. He’s used to playing with a pack of 5.  He just needs less stimulation and someone to work with him on solidifying his training techniques. It’s not fair of us to not give him the tools to succeed and grow into a gentleman. If you think you’re the right fit for Ciao let us know and we can set up a meet and greet. I know the perfect home is out there for him! Oh and I forgot to mention that he’s the biggest snuggle bug and gives the biggest kisses in the world. Story
Meet our friend, Lip. He’s a Goldendoodle born 12/7/23. He is a sweet cuddler, who has a curious spirit and is very interested in what you are doing. Someone is home with him all day so we try to be on a schedule to go out every hour. When we derail from that plan, accidents have happened but every day gets better on the potty training front. At night, he goes into the kennel around 10-11 pm and it makes him sad for less than one minute before he settles down. Around 5:30 am he will bark to let people know he needs to go outside. He does not mind being on a tie-out but needs someone to keep him company while he is outside so we take him out on both a leash or sit outside with him on a tie-out until he is ready. He sometimes will need up to 20 minutes before he completes his business. If he is left alone for even a second, he will whine and bark to let you know he wants you to come back. During the day, he's been in a kennel for 3-4 hours when we've had to leave and it's not been an issue. He has met a few kids in the neighborhood and has played well with them.  He hasn't had a ton of interaction with other dogs, but the one that he has, he has been very happy to play with and run. He hasn't met any cats while he's been with us. He enjoys going for walks and the leash is not an issue. We've been going daily and he's so interested in everything on the trail it sometimes takes him longer for us to get to where we're going. We've noticed when he is approached by an adult stranger he will bark and be very skittish. After a few moments, he lets his guard down when he realizes he has a new friend. He is currently teething so he has a small desire to nip at clothes and furniture but find that re-directing him with a small chew toy is a good option. His energy level is high when he wants to play but he also settles down well if you are willing to cuddle up. He enjoys lying on the couch with someone when he's inside.  When he's outside, he loves chasing after leaves and gets excited when birds fly above him. He will make the perfect addition for anyone with his friendly personality and his adorable puppy face.  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $850.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 27, 2024, 5:57 pm
