Chase is a 7.5 yr old male black lab, shepherd, husky mix with blue eyes- he's a big guy at 86#, and this is his ideal weight. He previously lived with people that were happy to have him in the family, but didn't really spend any time with obedience training - Chase knows his name but no commands. The foster is teaching him to sit for a treat. He is also learning leash manners - still tends to pull if he wants to check something out. He enjoys time outside, and being part husky, he will vocalize to you when he wants to go out. Actually, he also does that when he wants treats and pets......you just have to figure out which one he wants. Because he can get over a 4 ft. high fence, Chase needs a 5 ft fenced enclosure so he can safely be outside for extended periods, or he will need to be on a tieout. Chase enjoys walks, and will chase after small critters in the yard. There are 2 felines in his foster home and he ignores them. He is almost indifferent to the other dog in his foster home, and would be perfectly content to be the "only dog". He enjoys chewing on bones (tends to bury them when he is done chewing) and on rope toys; some interest in balls, but not in retrieving them. Chase likes some attention from his people, especially pets and belly rubs - he's a dog that will sit close to you, but not necessarily snuggle. Well behaved indoors, and has free run of the house when left - thus far he's been left for about 4 hrs. but the foster expects he would be fine up to 8 hrs. Chase is housebroken, and will come over to you, "talk", and walk to the door when he needs to go out. He sheds seasonally, and will need brushing in the spring to remove the winter undercoat he develops. I don't know if he has ever lived with children - Chase is a mature dog, and not interested in playing. Chase is neutered and current on distemper and rabies vaccinations. Whiskey is a great dog, he is an awesome companion dog. He has lots of energy but he can also cuddle. He is mostly potty trained but can have accidents if left alone for more than 8 hours. He is used to be kennel trained but we have not used it in a while, he sleeps in his own bed. He loves to go on walks and he is very active and does not like thunderstorms. He is very selective of food scraps and treats, he just like what he likes! He adores kids, any age. Does not like cats or small dogs, he might think they are toys or prey. Whiskey can jump very high! Therefore if you have a fence it needs to be 6 to 8 ft otherwise you will have to leash him to go outside. We are looking for someone that have time to spend with him and love him as a part of the family. Whiskey is still waiting for someone who really loves dogs and his energy. Unfortunately, my daughter's allergies are getting worse but I really want him in good hands and someone who really takes care of him.

History: We welcomed a group recently from a partnering organization of ours, Villalobos Animal Rescue. These kiddos are SO sweet and already have a great start at basic obedience and mannerisms. A Note from the Foster: This sweet and shy cuddle-bug is Verde, but we like to call him Bear. He’s not the most confident pup, so he’s looking to join a family that can give him confidence with clear directions and boundaries. Verde is great with meeting other dogs! He’s established a friendly relationship with our resident dog. They love playing with each other, taking naps together, and finding ways to earn treats. Not only is he great with meeting with other dogs, he’s also a wonderful playmate for humans! He has experience living with a younger child and has done wonderfully. But Verde is still learning what is appropriate play, so he can use more strength than he knows when playing with humans. Verde is about 1-1.5 years old, so he’s still got puppy energy and behaviors that we’re working on. He’s doing really well learning how to walk calmly on a leash, proper ways to play with humans, and to not jump on people he is excited to meet. But he’s a fast learner and is already potty trained, crate trained, knows how to “sit”, wait for his food, and is starting to learn to play fetch with a frisbee. One note about Verde’s is that during a recent check up appointment, the veterinarian found that he has a heart murmur. At the moment, we are keeping a close eye on him and his health, but he seems to be a happy and healthy pup. Verde is the sweetest pup and he’s looking for a family that has time to lead him with confidence.
