I’m an adorable pug/Dachshund mix, and I made my way here after a stay at Bandera Animal Control—but honestly, I’m just focused on the good stuff now… like PLAYTIME. I’ve got a big personality packed into a little body, and I’m full of energy and fun. I LOVE to play. Toys? Yes, please—all of them. I’ll chase them, toss them, and keep myself (and you) entertained. I’ve always got a little bounce in my step, and I’m happiest when I’m running around or right in the middle of whatever you’re doing. I’m super friendly and love everyone I meet, so making new friends is kind of my thing. I do get excited (okay, really excited), and I might bark to let you know just how happy I am—but that’s just me being me! Life is exciting, and I’m here for it. After I’ve burned off some energy, I’m more than happy to hang out and soak up attention. I just love being part of the action. I might need a little help with potty training at first, but I’m a smart guy and with some patience and consistency, I’ll get the hang of it in no time. My adoption fee is $400. Welcome Kiwi to CCPAL Rescue. Kiwi is a 10-week-old Pug mixed pup. She is a beautiful fawn color with a black muzzle. She has an underbite and a shortened nose. She is a smallest-sized pup in the liter. She should be 20 or 25 pounds full grown is our best estimate. They all have curly tails and the round adorable heads. Kiwi is the most outgoing and friendly in the group. She always comes when you call and wants to be picked up. They are all affectionate and cuddly. They are very playful with their siblings. They go on a wee pad but are not fully potty trained. They are good in a crate and are getting regular attention and love at the Rescue. We don’t have the privilege of adopting out many pugs. We are excited to find the pug pups their forever home. We would love pug people for these pups, as they know the breed most. They will be spayed and neutered and ready for their forever home soon. Someone that doesn’t work all day every day is the best candidate for a puppy. These pups would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older as these pups are small and very trusting of everyone. Kiwi is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Meet Pierre! Pierre is a 9-year-old sweetheart who joined Evergreen Pug Rescue after his family faced the difficult decision to surrender him when they had to move and couldn't take him along. It was a heartbreaking choice, and we're honored they've trusted us to help him find the loving home he deserves for his golden years. We're still getting to know Pierre, but he has already made a wonderful impression. He loves to snuggle and is perfectly content sleeping in his crate, although we suspect he'd much rather have a soft bed nearby. He has incredibly soft fur, is very food motivated, and enjoys running, playing, and chasing the other dogs. Despite being a senior, he keeps right up with the rest of the pack. Pierre is also working on his potty training and making good progress. He's already been neutered and has received his vaccines, heartworm test, and a full veterinary exam, so he'll be ready to start his next chapter soon. We can't wait to see this sweet boy find a home where he can enjoy all the comforts of retirement, surrounded by love and companionship. Pierre is being fostered in Washington State. Welcome Nutz to CCPAL Rescue. Nutz is a 3-year-old Chug (Chihuahua/Pug). He weighs about 12 pounds and is full grown and a nice weight. This dog came from the hoarder or overabundance of dog situation. He is a quieter dog and likes to be held. He is definitely a lap companion. He is playful with other dogs and has the sturdy body of the Pug. He would love to be a companion for a person that is retired, partially retired or maybe someone with a household that is more quiet and wants a dog with a lower energy to join in. He would be ok with a smaller condo size yard. He is learning leash manners and getting used to commotion of the Rescue. He hasn’t experienced a lot of different things so he isn’t sure yet but he is really really nice. He is not a big shedding dog. He is fine with nail trims and baths and will make some lucky family a great companion. I would say anyone moderately active would be fine for this dog. He bonds deeply and he warms up with affection nicely. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is getting vaccinations, neutered and he will be ready for his forever home soon. Please meet Forrest! This sweet pup is estimated to be about 10 months old. At a young age, he was abandoned in a park. We don’t know what happened to his mom or if he and his brother were the only ones to survive, but Forrest is resilient with a heart full of joy. Forrest is a happy and playful boy who’s adjusting well to life in a home. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and people. He lives in a foster home with cats but he gets very excited wanting to play when he sees them so he accidentally scares the cats. While he’s gentle and kind, we recommend a home with older kids, as his youthful energy might accidentally knock over toddlers. He's a big wiggle-butt, a very happy boy! Animal Profile: Penny is a 2 1/2 year old, 65 lb spayed female English Bulldog mix. She has a tight, clean coat and an adorable under bite. She has guardian-breed tendencies and will need a breed-savvy owner who's able to provide appropriate leadership. She is loyal to her family and loves to snuggle. Her absolute favorite joy in life is Ball! She enjoys playing with other dogs but requires a human who can supervise and advocate for appropriate interactions or she is prone to bullying behavior. She is currently being fostered in a home with two other dogs and is crate-trained, house-trained, and has basic obedience training. She will benefit from structure, leadership, and ongoing training. Once acclimated in a home environment, she loves to snuggle and play and has a goofy, loving personality. Adopter Profile: Single family residence required Secure fenced yard preferred Large breed experience required Bully breed experience preferred Other balanced dogs and older children considered on case by case basis Adoption Info: The adoption fee is $400, which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, flea/tick treatment, deworming, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Medical Notes: Penny has had one TPLO repaired in Spring 2025 and fully recovered, before tearing her other CCL in Fall 2025. We will do another TPLO for her with adoption interest. Animal History: Penny and her siblings were a surprise litter - their mother was adopted from a local family when she was unknowingly pregnant, so he got much more than he bargained for when she had puppies soon after her adoption. Penny was born on 12/09/22; one of the littermates was DNA tested and so presumably all littermates are 75% English Bulldog, 12.5% German Shepherd, 12.5% Rhodesian Ridgeback. As puppies, these dogs were playful and engaging. Penny was adopted as a puppy to a family who was not prepared for the tendencies of this breed combination. Without any formal training, she developed territorial behaviors in the home and on walks that ultimately led the family to return her to the rescue. Primrose, Princeton and Percival's mom was abandoned at a home when her previous owners moved out. She was left out on a chain to fend for herself. Luckily the neighbors realized she had been left behind and took her in. She was in horrible physical condition and pregnant by to neighborhood stray (a black lab) that would jump the fence when she was in heat. It was reported by the neighbors that these 2 had had multiple litters together but none of the puppies ever survived. The neighbors children fell in love with mom and they are keeping her but needed help rehoming her very last litter (we assisted in getting her spayed). These pups are the most laid back and chill group I have ever seen.
