Story
Rocket is an easy-going and sweet fur babe. He loves to snuggle, play catch, and go on sniffing adventures. He enjoys socializing with humans but gets weary of new dogs. Will make friends with familiar dogs. Perfect for someone who is looking for companion and has time to invest in him - does not like to be alone. We suspect he is hard of hearing or deaf (not tested) because he has never learned his name, doesn't respond to verbal cues(only claps or taps) and responds to visual signals for commands. He knows: here" (here finger gestured) "sit" (fist gesture), "stay" (open palm hand) "down" (point downward) and "place" point at a designated "place area." He often gets spooked by someone who he didn't hear coming by and will be defensive (growl). For this reason, we are looking for an adults-only home with someone who has the time or resources to train him.

If you have a calm home and a heart ready for a loyal companion, please apply. Nelson is a good dog who simply finds a busy or high-energy environment stressful. Because he is a sensitive soul, he is seeking a tranquil, adult-only home (or one with older teens) where life is calm and the routine is steady. He is healthy, neutered, and current on all his vaccines. While he would be thrilled to be your one-and-only, he also does well with other female dogs. His Ideal Match:Nelson needs a family that is experienced with 'dog body language' and can provide him with a low-stress environment. He is a loving boy, but he thrives when his personal space is respected and his surroundings are peaceful. In a quiet home without the sudden movements of small children, Nelson’s best side really shines. Medical:  healthy. He's been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. How to apply: please visit OUR website at www.animalsrule.org and fill out our online application of interest  To see more pictures and video of Nelson, please check out and follow our Facebook and Instagram pages Nelson can be seen by appointment only, with an approved application. Story
Meet Sangria , the sweetest boy with a heart full of love and eyes full of soul. Sangria’s story began in May 2024, when we rescued his mom and six newborn siblings just days after they were born. At 8 weeks old, Sangria was adopted, and we were so excited for his future. Sadly, that joy turned to heartbreak in June 2025 when he was returned to us after experiencing four seizures, none of which were treated by his adopters. Despite our hopes, he had been medically neglected. Back in our care, Sangria finally received the veterinary attention he deserved. He was diagnosed with epilepsy and started on medication right away. True to his resilient spirit, Sangria hasn’t let his diagnosis dim his light. He’s a happy-go-lucky, playful boy who charms everyone he meets, people and dogs alike. Sangria is cuddly, curious, fun-loving, and incredibly affectionate. He also lives peacefully with two cats, proving he’s an all-around good boy. Sangria will thrive in a home with adopters who are committed to his ongoing health and willing to continue working with his neurologist to manage his seizures. He’d love a playful dog sibling but would also do great as a solo pup, as long as he has plenty of social time with other dogs. If Sangria sounds like the perfect match for your family, please complete an adoption application. He’s ready to bring love, laughter, and lots of tail wags into your life.‍ Questions can be emailed to Danelle@roversretreat.org Sangria's adoption fee is $600

Story
Bowser found himself at the shelter because his family had a human baby, and no longer had the time to care for him. He is a sweet, playful boy who is a little confused on why he ended up here. Bowser is a great walker, and just absolutely loves playing fetch. He is a very smart boy and already knows a few commands like sit, down, and stay. He seems to be some sort of herding mix, maybe Aussie/Shepherd?? Bowser will need a dog savvy home who will give him the exercise and structure that he needs to be successful! We don't think he would be appropriate with young kids. Right now he would need to go home with kids 16 years or older, but would most likely do best in an adult only home. Bowser is a very sweet boy, he loves to cuddle up next to you and get belly rubs. He is dog friendly, and would probably do very well with another playful pup in the home! March 7, 2026, 9:20 pm

Story
Meet Doodle! Doodle is a 7-year-old mini-Australian shepherd. He is a super smart, funny and loving dog but he is not for the first-time dog owner. True to his breed, he has a very high herding instinct and is protective of his home. He is also very obedient, knows all his commands, is potty-trained, crate trained, and absolutely can't get enough attention from his person. He requires a lot of exercise (just a walk isn't enough), so he'll need an active owner who will run with him, hike with him, and take him on adventures. Doodle would do great in agility or herding activities. He can be reactive with larger dogs so we are looking for a home without a resident dog over 20 lbs. but he does get along well with small dogs and cats (although he does like to herd them when he gets excited). In his foster home, Doodle lives with four other dogs and two cats. He does really well with the established boundaries in his foster home and flourishes when he knows the rules and what's expected of him. In addition to regular exercise, his foster mom gives him puzzles, interactive toys and lick mats that help to keep him mentally stimulated. He is a great guard dog and very protective so he can be reactive to visitors in his home. Doodle is also selective with who he likes and tends to favor women over men so introductions to new people must be done slowly and with care. Doodle is a medium size dog, weighing in at 35 lbs., is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccines. He is an amazing guy and we know his perfect home is out there. Doodle is looking for a quite home with no children where he would prefer to be the only dog. He needs an owner who has owned a herding breed before and is up for the challenge of owning a high energy, intelligent dog. Is it you?
