Otis is a sweet and loving pure bred mini Australian shepherd who is around 7 years old. He loves to play fetch and is a high energy, fun dog. He is slightly anxious around new people but tends to warm up quickly to adults. The reason we are hoping to find a new home for him is due to his difficulty with children. We have two toddlers and another baby on the way and we have had several incidents where he has nipped at their faces. We have attempted to train him or separate him from them but it is not working. Our hope is to find him a home with a loving family or person with out children who has a yard for him or is able to walk him daily. He is potty trained and does well being inside. Bowser found himself at the shelter because his family had a human baby, and no longer had the time to care for him. He is a sweet, playful boy who is a little confused on why he ended up here. Bowser is a great walker, and just absolutely loves playing fetch. He is a very smart boy and already knows a few commands like sit, down, and stay. He seems to be some sort of herding mix, maybe Aussie/Shepherd?? Bowser will need a dog savvy home who will give him the exercise and structure that he needs to be successful! We don't think he would be appropriate with young kids. Right now he would need to go home with kids 16 years or older, but would most likely do best in an adult only home. Bowser is a very sweet boy, he loves to cuddle up next to you and get belly rubs. He is dog friendly, and would probably do very well with another playful pup in the home! March 7, 2026, 9:20 pm

I adopted a dog last December. Unbeknownst to me she was pregnant and had puppies on 1/14/26. Unfortunately we’ve had issues with littermate syndrome and need to rehome him and one of his brothers. Me and my husband are devastated to have to do this. We’ve never had to rehome one of our animals but it’s not safe to keep him with his one sibling. He gets along with my other dog, his mom and the rest of his siblings except the one. He’s also been with cats and kids. I want him to go to a good, safe home.

We are opening the application process for ANDY!!! He is a 9 pound 100% miniature Australian Shepherd. Andy was found running scared as a stray in a desolate desert area, and taken to an overcrowded, extremely high kill shelter! Unfortunately his people didn't come for him and he was quickly tagged for euthanasia due to overcrowding. Thankfully one of our amazing volunteers spotted him and offered to pick up and foster him. Andy is believed to be 2-3 years old, weighs only 9 pounds, super sweet, dog and cat friendly, potty trained. Though Andy is kid friendly, he prefers older kids. The VERY first step is completing an application on-line. This beautifully marked boy is Jake. He is a 3 years old Australian Shepherd mix who weighs 50 pounds. Jake is a smart guy. He knows: sit, stay, down, off, kennel, and paw. He likes to "help" put boxes in recycling, likes to "help" take out the trash! He is also house trained. Jake is good with people. He is initially stand-offish when meeting new people and warms up when given a moment. Like so many other herders, he likes to make his own introduction. With people in his home, Jake will pick one person and that person is his: he is friendly with everyone in the house, but he will always follow that one person no matter what. Jake lives with a small dog and is polite with him. He is also friendly with a family member’s dog when they visit. He seems to prefer polite dogs. Jake is good on leash. He can pull on leash sometimes, so sometimes needs a reminder to not do so. Jake is fine in the car. He prefers shorter trips. He did take a two-days road trip and was polite but didn’t settle. So he is more of a local drive kind of guy. Jake does have ear allergies, but a $10 one-year supply of "Allerclear" from Costco manages it just fine. Jake likes to run and play hard, and that can cause him to get a bit of a limp after play. Then, he recovers and is back at play. He is starting Dasuquin to help so he can keep up that active play. Jake will cuddle to watch tv for about 20-30 minutes, then he gets too hot and wants to lie down by himself. He can identify toys by name and color and will retrieve them on command. Jake is best friend material: loyal, engaging, smart. He only needs a home because he is not a fit with the special needs family member in the home. Jake is neutered and microchipped. He is located in Lompoc, CA. Adopters must be able to meet and adopt here. A home visit and vet reference are required to adopt.
