Story
My name is Fiona and I am a sweet bundle of energy! I am a very loyal companion who wants all your attention and absolutely love children! Although I sometimes have to be reminded not to jump I’m getting better at that. I am not a fan of cats when they run. It makes me want to chase them. I am more fond of women sometimes men can scare me at first, but once I get to know them and with a few treats I’ll be your best friend. I enjoy being around dogs. Except I don’t care for dogs with high energy like me. It makes me nervous. I really love to go on runs and I love my toys...I love chew toys. I do better in my crate after I’ve had plenty of exercise and if you have dogs at home meeting them first would make me feel better. I absolutely love water. My foster mom bought me my own kiddy pool and it’s my favorite thing to do besides following around my foster mama. I’ve been living with two children, age two and seven and I love my foster kids. When I finally am awake I am a big cuddle bug. I like to give hugs and kisses if you let me, I am a big baby with a huge heart of gold! I love to talk/bark when I get excited my tail wags like crazy and I will do spins in circles to show you how cute and smart I am. I catch on pretty quickly to routines and overall just want to be around my people. I know my perfect home is out there and would love to meet you to see if you are the one. I'm almost 2 yrs old, and weigh approximately 40 pounds. Puppy kisses Fiona ♥️ 🐾 If interested in adopting Fiona, please fill out our adoption application: info@salvagedsoulspetrescue.org.

Story
Meet Moira Rose 🌹 “Bébé!” Moira Rose has entered the chat, and naturally, she expects a proper introduction. This 30-pound, approximately 4-year-old Mini Aussie mix came to NTASR from a West Texas shelter with her week-old puppies. Because putting a brand-new mama and newborn babies in a shelter is simply not the lifestyle we endorse. Now her Schitt's Creek babies are growing up, and Moira is ready to leave motherhood behind and begin her next era: the Moira Rose era. She's sweet, energetic, clever, food motivated, and has absolutely no problem telling you what she thinks. Her preferred hobbies include backyard exploration, walks, playtime, treats, and herding her people around the house like a tiny, fluffy director. Need to go outside? Moira knows. Need a treat? Moira knows. Need someone to supervise literally anything you're doing? Moira has arrived. She's crate trained, potty trained, housetrained, walks beautifully on leash, knows sit and stay, and gets along with other dogs. She'd love a playful canine companion who appreciates her particular brand of enthusiastic nonsense. After raising a whole litter of bebés, Moira Rose has earned a little attention for herself. She's ready for walks, adventures, snacks, a backyard to explore, and a family who understands that every home deserves a little more drama, glamour, and herding. 🌹 “I’m positively bedeviled with meetings.” Luckily, Moira has cleared her schedule for adoption. 💅

Story
Meet Mimic 💙 Mimic is the kind of dog who reminds us why second chances matter. When she arrived at rescue, we were told she needed immediate medical care for what appeared to be a broken back leg. After further evaluation, we discovered the truth was even more heartbreaking — Mimic had suffered an old femur fracture that had healed incorrectly. Her leg had been left with little function, and she was unable to properly use it or bear weight. But Mimic was given the chance she deserved. Our orthopedic team took on the challenge of repairing her leg, and after nearly five hours of surgery, her femur was carefully re-broken and repaired. Today, Mimic is walking on that leg, putting weight on it, and continuing the hard work of recovery through rehabilitation. Watching her go from a leg that once dangled behind her to confidently using it again has been nothing short of incredible. Now, this beautiful one-year-old Standard Australian Shepherd is ready to start the next chapter of her story. Mimic is smart, curious, and eager to be part of everything her people are doing. She loves being outside, exploring her surroundings, and staying close to her humans. She isn’t the type of dog who wants to wander off — she wants to know where her people are and be included in the adventure. She is also a big fan of toys and treats, which makes training much easier because Mimic is motivated and ready to learn. She is currently working on her foundation skills, including house training, basic manners, and understanding what life as a family dog looks like. Like many dogs who have experienced uncertainty, Mimic is also learning that she doesn’t need to protect the things she loves. She is working through some resource guarding around toys with the help of her foster family, who are providing patience, structure, and positive guidance. Mimic enjoys the other dogs in her foster home and is continuing to build confidence with play and social interactions. She is still discovering that the world can be a safe and happy place, and she is making progress every single day. Mimic isn’t looking for a family to feel sorry for her. She’s looking for a family who will celebrate how far she has come and give her the time, patience, and consistency she needs to continue thriving. The girl will bob-and-weave for hours for treats! She’s walking well and building back muscle in that leg and retraining her brain to use that leg again. Getting stronger. But when she stands, she shifts all her weight to her good leg. Mimic will likely need a little more PT when she goes to her forever home to continue to retrain her brain to use the leg and continue to build muscle mass.  Her ideal home will be one that understands the intelligence and sensitivity of an Australian Shepherd, enjoys helping a dog learn, and wants a companion who will be right by their side for all of life’s adventures. Mimic has spent enough time surviving. Now she’s ready to be loved, included, and finally experience what it means to be someone’s dog. ❤️ Talk about a glow-up! This girl is 10 weeks post-op from femur surgery and realizing life can be amazing. She’s working on her manners, and realizing that food comes on a normal schedule. She’s happy go lucky and such a people pleaser. We’re still doing walking exercises and helping her shift her weight to her newly healed leg, and the vet says she’s doing great!

Story
Meet Milksteak 🥛✨ AKA Wally, professional cuddle bug and full time lap dog. Milksteak is a 25 pound standard Australian Shepherd and double merle who was rescued from a breeder that planned to cull him because of his disabilities. Their loss, honestly, because this little guy is pure joy wrapped in fluffy chaos energy. Wally is deaf, but you’d never know it slows him down. He’s adventurous, playful, ridiculously affectionate, and fully convinced every human he meets was put on earth specifically to love him. He wants to be touching his people at all times if possible. Lap? Perfect. Couch? Amazing. Bed? Obviously. One unexpected perk to his deafness? Fireworks, thunderstorms, loud chaos... none of it bothers him. While other dogs are panicking, Wally is usually asleep somewhere upside down without a care in the world. He’s crate trained, potty trained, walks nicely on leash, and gets along great with dogs, cats, and kids. He’s food motivated, clever, curious, and always ready for the next adventure or snack opportunity. He's fully vetted and ready for his furever home. He does have an independent little streak mixed in with all that snuggly sweetness, which honestly just adds to his charm. Milksteak is the kind of dog that makes people fall in love instantly. He’s goofy, resilient, endlessly loving, and proof that “different” never means less.
