Story
Meet Chewbacca, This big goofball is two years old a one-of-a-kind Boxer who will steal your heart with his charm and unique appearance. Chewie is deaf but that doesn't slow him down, he is a big, high-energy pup who's always ready to play! He has a professional trainer and has been working hard to learn how to communicate using an E-collar and he's making great progress. His training is through positive reinforcement and he's already got a good grasp on his basic commands and is almost house-trained. Chewie is a big fan of bones, toys, and treats, but his true passion is playing with other dogs. He's made tons of friends during his training at Big Hair Pet Care, where he loves to run and burn off his endless energy. He's a bit clumsy and might accidentally greet his doggy friends with a paw to the face, so he'd do best in a home without small animals or children. This loveable goofball is also quite the vocal pup and loves to yodel his excitement to the world, so having a home with lots of space would be ideal. He loves relaxing on the couch after an exciting day. Chewie needs an adoptive family with the perfect blend of patience and athleticism to help him adjust to his new environment and keep up with his playful nature. If you're considering adopting Chewie, we would arrange a foster period for you to make sure he's the perfect fit for your family. We're also including 4 free in-home training sessions to ensure that Chewie has all the tools he needs to be the best pup he can be. Chewbacca is currently being boarded in Massachusetts and his adoption fee has been waived thanks to a generous volunteer sponsor. In addition, there's a $2,500 donation fund available to approved adopters for his continued training, food, and future medical care. So if you're ready to open your heart and home to this special boy, apply to adopt Chewie today and get ready for a lifetime of love and laughter! To adopt this pet, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our dogs come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the dog you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
