Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends  Sweet 14weeks old Punch is name after Punch the Monkey.      Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.

Story
Meet Pepper & Princess – A Beautiful Boxer Duo 💕 Pepper and her daughter Princess are a bonded pair of Boxers with hearts as big as their smiles. They came into our rescue several months ago after their owner experienced life changes and could no longer care for them. When they arrived, both girls were underweight and had never received proper veterinary care. They were heartworm positive and neither had been spayed. Thanks to the love and dedication of our rescue, Pepper and Princess are now fully up to date on vaccines and have successfully completed heartworm treatment. They’ve come such a long way and are healthier, happier, and ready for their next chapter. Personality-wise, these two are absolute gems. They are incredibly sweet, gentle, and polite — no jumping here! They do wonderfully with other dogs, puppies, and even cats. Their calm, loving nature makes them a joy to be around. Pepper and Princess are crate trained and stay in their crates when left home alone. Their crates are their cozy, safe spaces, and they settle in without any issues. These girls would thrive in a home where they can truly be part of the family — lounging nearby, soaking up love, and enjoying life together. Because of their close bond, it would be a dream come true for them to be adopted together, though the most important thing is finding them a loving, stable home. If you’re looking for loyal companions with gentle hearts and a touching story of resilience, Pepper and Princess may be the perfect match for you. If you are interested in these two girls, please message us and we will send you an application. They are being fostered in MS but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal friendly transport on the road!

Story
Mochi came into a high kill SC shelter as a stray, no owner found so he sits. He is a very scared puppy and does not seem very familiar with people. He is terrified in the shelter environment but is very sweet. He is dog-friendly, and the shelter staff is working with him to help him become more comfortable and build confidence. But without an adopter or foster to adopt person willing to give him a chance we won't be able to save him and his days are numbered to get out of the shelter before they have to euthanize for space (they are beyond overcrowded so they do this frequently). We are working to save as many dogs from southern shelters and place them into loving homes. These shelters are high kill shelters and these dogs are urgently in need of an adopter to save their lives. These are good dogs that had crappy owners who dumped them or just turned them out and the dogs were picked up as stray and taken to the county shelters, left unclaimed. The county shelters fill up quickly and they euthanize (kill) simply because they run out of space for dogs to be. We offer adoptions for any dog we post. We can provide videos, pictures, answer as many questions as we can on the dog for you, etc. We can even do video chat with the dogs (these must be scheduled) if time allows. If you want to adopt but are unsure of a dog because you haven’t met him or her….we offer a adoption foster period program. This is where you adopt the dog and agree to a certain time period trial – usually 2-4 weeks (depending on when transport is running from here to there) to let the dog decompress in a normal home setting and settle in and make sure it’s a good fit for you and the dog. If it isn’t a good fit, we can pick the dog back up when our transport returns to your location but you have to agree to keep the dog safe during the time he/she is with you until we are able to pick the dog up. The adoption fee is non-refundable BUT if the dog is not a good fit for you or you’re not a good fit for it and it’s returned, we do allow you to pick another dog to adopt and transfer the fee to that dog (we will only do this one time), this is not a rotation puppy game. We have been doing rescue for many years (the Director has been doing this for over 30 years). We are pretty good at matching a dog to a person, family, etc. Be honest with us at what you are looking for, what matters to you and what will work best for you and we will be honest with you if you’re interested in a dog that’s not going to work for you. Our adoption fees include all up to date vetting (vaccines, spay/neuter, microchip, and any other medical needed by the dog while in the ownership of the rescue). It will also include the transportation to your area (not to your house, you might have to drive a little to pickup the dog depending on where transport stops to meet up with people). Let’s partner together to save a dog and find you your next fur-family member.

Story
Meet Chyna, your future snuggle buddy and full-time shadow! Quote from her foster family:"Chyna is always on the lookout for cuddles and a snuggle buddy. One look at her sweet face and you’ll be smitten. She’s never far from your side, showering you with endless kisses in exchange for a good belly rub. Honestly, we think she might be part marshmallow." Woof-Facts: Name: Chyna Breed: Mixed Breed Weight: 69 lbs of pure love Age: 10 years young Gender: Female Health: UTD on vaccines, microchipped & spayedChyna's Ideal Home:Chyna would love a home where she can be the center of your universe (and your couch). She’s a big fan of leisurely strolls, chasing backyard squirrels (respectfully), and riding shotgun on errands. Her foster says she’s an absolute dream—the kind that snores softly next to you while you binge your favorite show. Great with: Kids: Possibly older children—she sometimes forgets she’s not a lap dog. Dogs: No thanks—Chyna prefers a drama-free, solo spotlight. Cats: Hard pass—she’s more of a “people person.” Training & Manners: Crate Trained: Doesn’t need one—she snoozes peacefully in her bed and keeps the house in check while you’re out. House Trained: Yes! She’s a lady. Leash Trained: Yes—walks like she’s strutting the runway. Personality:Chyna is a certified “Velcro dog”—if you move, she moves. She loves chew toys, fetch, car rides, zoomies, and belly rubs. But her favorite activity? Being next to you. She may be a big girl, but her heart (and snoot) are even bigger. Her Journey:Chyna came to Rescue Haven Foundation from the Yonkers Animal Shelter after her previous family had to surrender her due to financial hardship and a move. Through it all, she’s kept her tail wagging and her hope high. February 3, 2026, 12:28 am

Story
Quote from foster family: “Bijou loves everyone she meets, has master snuggling capabilities, and thoroughly enjoys being with her humans. She already knows the commands sit, paw, down, wait, and leave it, and is highly treat motivated, which helps with her continued training. Woof-Facts Name: Bijou Breed: Mixed breed Weight: 52 lbs Age: 3 years old Gender: Female Health: Already spayed; up to date on vaccines More Info:Bijou has that playful puppy energy yet she is easily redirected. She can play somewhat rough with her toys, such as tug-of-war, however, she’ll drop her toy graciously when corrected. She’s vocal when playing, which we find to be quite adorable! Bijou has shown no aggression whatsoever to humans and other dogs.  Forever home recommendations: Bijou needs physical exercise and mind-stimulation engagement, so she’ll need a home that will provide that. Please know that she’s not always in go-mode – she’s pretty much equal parts snuggle and play. Kids: Bijou has not yet been around children. Due to her strength, we feel a home with older kids could be a fit. Dogs: Dog friendly Cats: No Crate trained: Yes House trained: Yes Leash manners: Walks well on a leash; may occasionally get a bit excited and jump up at the leash while being is easily corrected Personality: Loves everyone she meets How did Bijou find herself at Rescue Haven Foundation: Bijou somehow ended up at a local city shelter, and Rescue Haven Foundation took her under their wing and is searching Bijou’s forever family.February 6, 2026, 10:11 am
