Meet Ducky, a sweet and resilient young girl ready to trade her past as a stray for a bright future as someone’s cherished companion. Rescued from Chicago alongside her brother, Baby Moon, while pregnant and terrified, Ducky has been a devoted mother, but she is more than ready to hang up her parenting hat and finally experience being a carefree dog. She is intensely curious about other adult dogs and desperately wants to play, making her an ideal match for a home with another social, playful canine companion who can help her continue to come out of her shell. Ducky has an endearing, gentle way of taking treats right from your hand, and when she gets a burst of joy, she is famous for her high-energy zoomies. Because she grew up way too fast, Ducky is still learning the ropes and will need a patient family willing to guide her through house-training and crate-training. Like many dogs of her breed, she has a stubborn streak and needs plenty of attention, supervision, and engaging outlets—especially since she can be destructive when left unattended and has a dangerous habit of chewing on electrical cords. While she has been around young children in a controlled setting without showing excessive excitement, her dream forever home is one with older kids or adults who understand her breed, have the time to help her channel her curiosity positively, and feature a playful doggy friend ready to show her how fun life can truly be.

This opinionated gentleman takes some time to warm up to new people and thrives with gentle handling, making a calmer household with a predictable routine ideal for him. While he prefers quiet human companionship, he surprisingly thrives around other dogs; canine siblings are the ultimate key to his confidence and socialization! Moon Baby loves following other pups around, though he can be a bit protective of his food and bones. He is also a self-proclaimed toy kleptomaniac who delights in hoarding every available toy in his pen to play with on his own terms. Vocal, expressive, and ready to share all his opinions—especially at mealtimes or when you return home—he will keep you entertained every single day. Because leash walking is very much a work in progress, Moon Baby is looking for a home with a secure, fenced yard where he can sunbathe to his heart's content (with proper supervision, of course, as he is a crafty flight risk). He is currently pee-pad trained and treats his kennel as his ultimate safe space, spending most of his time lounging happily inside and keeping it squeaky clean. Handling him requires patience; he currently prefers to be picked up—sometimes snug in a towel—to move around, and he appreciates a slow, gentle touch. The way to this cute boy's heart is simple: tasty chews, frozen food toys, other dog buddies, and a patient environment where he can blossom at his own pace.
