Story
Garland, an 9-month-old 50-pound female Transylvania Hound mix, came in as an owner surrender, along with her sister Twinkle. She is not fixed yet. Both girls entered the shelter in so much fear that they were paralyzed when away from each other. Since spending more time with staff, they have absolutely blossomed and have become social and friendly towards everyone. They still get a little afraid when they feel trapped or when someone moves too quickly around them, but they are getting better at this. Both girls only know the life of a farm and have never experienced different social environments. They will both probably always be more comfortable in a farm environment. They were allowed to free roam, however, it was reported by a neighbor that they may have both been the culprit to a recent chicken heist, but no definitive proof in this accusation. They both have experience living with ducks, pigs and horses. It is not a requirement both Garland and Twinkle are adopted together, but they could be. The $100 adoption fee is SPONSORED. The adopter will be responsible to have the animal spayed or neutered within 90 days at the clinic of their choosing. If this is completed within the required 90 days the adopter is to submit required documentation that includes a spay/neuter certificate, a receipt for the spay/neuter, and a rabies certificate to get their refund of up to the deposited amount. Spay and Neuter is required for adoption per our adoption contract and by Indiana State Law. We do not require in most cases that adopters bring all their families members and dogs for a meet and greet. But we do highly encourage it. We are happy to introduce the new dog to your dog(s) at the shelter. No appointment necessary. We do offer home trials of dogs over 6 months of age for about a week. You will not need to pay the adoption fee (spay neuter deposit) ahead of time, but if you decide to adopt you will need to return to the shelter to complete the paperwork and pay the adoption deposit. If you do not wish to complete the adoption, you can bring the dog back at any time during normal business hours during your home trial period.

Story
This dog is housetrained when following a consistent schedule and thrives on attention from people. He has a high energy level and often gets the "zoomies," showcasing his playful spirit. During playtime, he may give gentle, puppy-like nibbles. It’s important to note that he remains highly active and engaged when people are awake. He enjoys playing with ropes, has a penchant for destroying squeaky toys, and appreciates soft items. While he can be quite stubborn, with patience and guidance, he can learn and adapt well to his environment. The adoption fee of $100 is a refundable deposit. The adopter will be responsible to have the animal spayed or neutered within 90 days at the clinic of their choosing. DJ and his sister came in very afraid of the world. The pair had been together since they were puppies and had never been apart. They have not been socialized well, so everything new is scary to them. They did pass all assessments despite this. The adoption fee of $100 is a refundable deposit. The adopter will be responsible to have the animal spayed or neutered within 90 days at the clinic of their choosing. Story
Imagine a young dog who has already faced unimaginable challenges. He spent his early days living in a vehicle with four cats and another dog that we have since adopted out. When he came to us, he was severely malnourished and needed time to recover. After being on medical hold, he has now gained 5.5 pounds, though he’s still not fully filled out. This gentle soul, at just nine months old, deserves a chance at a loving home. He has been deprived of the affection every animal should experience, and now he’s ready to trust again. Can you be the superhero he’s been waiting for—his Superman or Wonder Woman? Give him the love and care he needs, and transform his life forever. The $100 adoption fee is a refundable deposit. The adopter will be responsible for having the animal spayed or neutered within 90 days at the clinic of their choosing. If this is completed within the required 90 days, the adopter must submit the necessary documentation, including a spay/neuter certificate, a receipt for the spay/neuter, and a rabies certificate, to receive a refund of up to the deposit amount. Spaying and neutering are required for adoption under our adoption contract and Indiana State Law. In most cases, we do not require adopters to bring all their family members and dogs to a meet-and-greet. But we do highly encourage it. Story
Meet Lucy, a gorgeous girl with a beautiful coat and the sweetest heart, available for adoption in New England and the Midwest! At 4.5 months old, Lucy is a total wiggle-butt and is always excited to make new friends! She plays nicely and loves spending time outside with her canine buddies. She has spent time with kids 10 and up and enjoys being part of whatever the family is doing. This smart cookie already knows several commands including the most important one of all… “treat!” She is very food and praise motivated, which makes training fun! She goes to the door when she needs to potty, sleeps well in her kennel, and loves cuddles, belly rubs, and giving out kisses. Lucy is a playful girl who loves toys, chasing a ball, and snow days. She also takes her “backyard detective work” very seriously and thinks mole-hunting is a very important job! She rides well in the car and is wonderful at the vet, happily greeting people and showing polite interest in other dogs. She has been curious about cats and has not shown negative behavior, but slow and thoughtful introductions would be best in a home with kitties. Lucy is up to date on vaccines and is available for adoption in New England and The Midwest. She is ready to bring joy, laughter, playtime, and lots of love to her forever family! If Lucy sounds like your perfect match, please apply to adopt her on our website www.luckylabrescue.com!
