Story
*price negotiable–not sure how to change it* Meet Fennec! He is attentive, eager to please, and a total sweetheart. At 8 months old, he is full of life and loves an adventure (and fetch)! We’ve taken him on hikes, to the park, and the beach–he loves it all! He’s good on a leash and learns commands impressively quickly. Knows sit & come. UTD on all vetting. I love having him around. I made the tough choice to sell him because of our financial situation, and also because we have a young child and I’m struggling to juggle time with both the pup and my family. Is crate-trained but is not yet housebroken/potty trained. He is a very quick learner so potty training should not take him long with the right amount of patience and attention. Comes with food bowls, collar, leash, harness, poop scoop, and car seat for dogs. Please feel free to reach out with questions!

Story
Theo is a very loving dogs who just loves to sleep and get pet. He is no longer good to be around children due to recent incident where he bit my son. Theo was being protective of his owner and I cannot afford to risk this happening again. Theo needs to be in a home with someone who doesn’t have kids and knows how to have a mastiff as a pet.

Story
Phoebe, a friendly adult female Pitbull (mix?), was brought to NCCR on 9/2/22 after being found as a stray. It was evident that she had recently given birth to puppies, but unfortunately, no one came forward to claim her. Therefore, Phoebe is now seeking her forever home. She has been spayed and received up-to-date vaccinations. Although she is fine with some dogs, she may be too strong for smaller or older dogs due to her size and strength. As she has a high prey drive, it is necessary for her to be in a home without cats or other small pets. A quiet home with a predictable routine would be the best fit for her. Phoebe loves to play with toys, go for walks, and snuggle on the couch. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. After you have completed your application, you will immediately get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.  Completing an application does not commit you to adopt, but please be sure that you are serious about adopting and have the time and patience to raise a puppy before you apply. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them. NYS Registration #RR028.

Story
Abe arrived with Poppy on April 15th, rescued from an out of state shelter that ran out of room for them. They had lived together in a home prior to being surrendered to the shelter. He is approximately a 1 year old mixed breed, weighing just 25 lbs. full grown. He has been through a lot and is timid, so will need patience and TLC while he adjusts to new situations. Abe likes the other dogs he has met and would do best in a home with another confident dog. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application found on the website at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Lucy arrived at NCCR 2/14/2023, rescued after she had been dumped at the vet’s to be euthanized for being too active. She is a 7-month-old bubbly and spirited spayed female Retriever mix puppy. Lucy clearly had not been receiving the exercise, training, or attention that she needed to help her become a well-adjusted adult dog. She now has a friend at the shelter that she LOVES to run and play with which has been wonderful for both of them. In the shelter, she has demonstrated that she will find and chew things she shouldn’t – she even seems to have a preference for things that are definitely not for dogs vs. toys that are specifically for dogs! She also won’t hesitate to knock over a trash can to see what’s inside. Lucy has also shown that she has some resource guarding behavior, and she does not want to give up the things she grabs. This sweet pup is always eager to greet new friends with a wagging tail and a happy grin. With her lively and energetic personality, she’s always ready for adventure and playtime. She is a sweet, affectionate girl who needs an outlet for her youthful energy and a patient family who will put the time into training and exercising her appropriately. Lucy will require someone who is experienced in handling a determined young dog, who will rein in her behavior appropriately and give her consistent, firm leadership and lots of play time and activity, without allowing her to run amok! She is a girl that needs to be able to burn off her abundant physical energy as well as to exercise her bright young mind! Lucy also requires a cat-free home. Whether you’re looking for a loyal companion, a fun-loving playmate, or just a furry friend to brighten up your day, this energetic and friendly girl is sure to steal your heart. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Copper is a year old German Shorthair Pointer (mix?). We were told Copper is housetrained and crate trained, knows some basic commands, and walks on a leash. He must be crated when left alone because he will chew things he shouldn’t. He is  good with other dogs, rides well in the car, and is friendly to everybody. Ideally he would have a canine playmate in his new home. Copper is a young dog who requires a significant amount of vigorous exercise every day so  will need a family that can provide substantial exercise, playtime, and training every day, as well as plenty of patience and love to help him become the best dog he can be! If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application which you'll find on the website at www.caninerescue.org.   After you have completed your application, you will immediately get a confirmation that we have received your application.
