Story
Bianca was rescued last October after being hit by two different cars, one after the other! She managed to hide under a parked car while in tremendous pain. The rescuer pulled over to watch over her until a vet arrived who could sedate her and take her to the clinic where they discovered that her hip was broken requiring surgery and treatment. When it was time to spay her, they also discovered that she was pregnant but the pregnancy was terminated given her condition and the overpopulation problem and shortage of homes where Bianca is from. Her fosters in Mexico really wanted to keep her but thought it would not be ideal since they planned to travel a lot. Bianca fully recovered but did not find an adopter in Mexico so Pye Dog decided to bring her to Canada and give her a chance. Bianca is a sweet, sensitive, and kind-hearted pup who loves everyone she meets. She is still getting to know her current foster siblings but they are older and not as open to playing as she would like. She is completely respectful of their needs and gives them lots of space. She played beautifully with her previous foster's pups so would do well in a home with other dogs. She is also very curious but sweet with the resident cat. We are confident she would be wonderful with children given her temperament. She is a world class cuddler and kisser. Bianca is well behaved in the home and is fully housetrained. She has not had one accident since arriving! She is crate trained but does not need it. She has been left alone while her foster goes out without incident. She is not a big barker, even with other "barky" dogs around her. She loves going on walks and is doing well on leash though could benefit from some positive reinforcement training. She really wants to please you so would be easy to train! She oozes gratitude and her needs are so simple. She just wants to be with people who will love her and treat her with kindness. She is the perfect family dog. Bianca is being fostered in Crystal Beach, Ontario. Jax

Chihuahua

Size

Story
Jax was rescued from a bad situation. His owners were drug users who were backyard breeders selling puppies to pay for drugs. Jax and numerous other dogs were pulled from this home by authorities. Jax is about 3 years old or so and is up to date with his shots and he has also been neutered so, no more puppies for Jax! Jax takes a little bit of time to warm up but once he does he is a real lovebug who wants nothing more than to be held and cuddled. If you want a purse dog, this is your guy! He may get on well with a small, confident and calm dog but would thrive being the king of his very own castle. He would also likely be fine with older children who would respect his boundaries. Jax loves to chase balls, of all sizes. He is crate trained for sleeping and eating but may cry a little bit if you leave him in a crate to go out to run errands. He is housetrained but may have the occasional accident if you miss his cues to go outside. Jax is being fostered in Port Colborne, Ontario. Hi my name is Hocus. When I first got to Ontario I was very scared. I didn’t want my foster parents to touch me and I would nip out of fear. Since then, I have learnt to trust my foster parents and will now let them gently pet me around my face and chest. Sometimes I get overwhelmed and don’t want to be pet and will try to tell you by nipping, but I’m working on it and still learning to trust that I won’t be hurt. I may not have ever had a positive interaction with humans but I’m really coming around with my foster parents now that I know they are friendly! I am a quick learner and have figured out sit and paw. My favourite thing is getting praised. I also love running and playing with my sister Pocus and foster sister. I am working on walking on a leash and have enjoyed my short walks! I really like my foster dog sister who has taught me many positive behaviours. I would really like to be in a home with a friend I can trust and learn from! I like my crate and sleep in there at night as well as a nap in the day. I really like to stick to a schedule! I don’t like being left alone for long periods of time and need someone to help me work on my separation anxiety. I am still a bit fearful and like to go slow when being introduced to new things. Since I grew up in a backyard I would really enjoy having a yard to play in. I would really love to find my forever home so I can finally adjust and find trusting and loving humans! I still have work to do and need someone patient but I am a very sweet boy.

I will need a strong, confident handler that is willing to show me leadership and consistency , I'm a very sweet boy if your willing to give me the time I will need to adapt to my new home and surroundings. I love to go swimming (It's one of my favorite things) hiking or just being the Andy Griffith dog lounging on the front porch catching some rays!!!. My good friends Stephanie and Elizabeth love taking me out on adventures and tell me what a good boy I am (shhh I love those girls) but it took awhile to trust them but man I'm glad I did !! I'm told I'm a little difficult sometimes and that's why my friends are making sure I find the exact home that will let me shine. I may not be perfect but with the right person I know I will be amazing. So that's all I'm going to say about me I will let my other friends fill you in on the rest; all my friends at NDR just want to see me shine in my new beginning!! Story
Butterfly (Luna) was found as a stray in a remote area of Manitoba and brought to the shelter by local police. She loves people of all ages although she definitely seems to prefer women. She loves being called a good girl. She is working on her training and very rarely has an accident in her crate. She is learning to walk on leash but still needs work on pulling. She does get scared when large trucks drive by and will pull to go see people and other dogs but in a friendly manner. Her favourite activities are playing fetch and cuddling. She is an energetic girl and loves to play with other dogs but can play rough. She will resource guard toys from other dogs but not food. Coming from a remote area she has never had her own toys so they are very high value for her. She enjoys her crate when it has comfy blankets inside and a blanket draped over top to feel safe.
