Story
Meadow was with the original owner since she was a puppy. Domestic issues meant they had to give him up to the Humane Society in the fall of 2022. The dogs had been starved of attention for several months as well as had inconsistent feeding. They'd also been left alone for extended periods of time. Because of that, we recommend that she not be in a home with small children that may disturb her when eating or try to take things away from her. Despite his last few months at home, since she's been with the Humane Society, she's shown that she's smart, great with other dogs, is okay with cats (but will chase them), receives correction well, and keeps a clean crate. She is good on a leash and will go to the bathroom in a fenced in area or on a leash. She does fear things being taken away from her and will need an experienced adopter to avoid issues. She's a counter surfer and has mild separation anxiety (will jump fences to get to her person). She can be fearful until she gets to know you. Unless you're a man - that will take a little longer! Meadow is an incredible dog with a ton of potential with someone that is willing to work with her and get to know her well. She would make an incredible companion.

Boone is a 54 lbs Boxer mix.  He is friendly and seems to be ok with other dogs....he loves to play.  He will need to meet any new housemate prior to adoption being approved. Boone is around 1 yr old.  We do not know how he is with cats or children.  He keeps his kennel area clean for the most part but will have accidents on occasion. If you are interested in Boone please stop at the shelter to meet him and complete an application. Story
Charming Chris! He is a good boy but will need some obedience training. He is a little selective of his doggie friends so he will have to meet all housemates before adoption. He was found as a stray on 7/31/2023 in Harmony Township with a collar but No ID, No Microchip. No one came looking for him. Chris is a Flat Coated Retriever about 4 years old. The people who found him named him so we kept the name of 'Chris'. He would do best in a home with older children and no cats.UPDATE: 8/11/23 Chris has been to the vet and has tested positive for heart worms. He won't be able to start treatment at the shelter due to the fact he must remain quiet and be in a quiet environment. Please consider helping Chris by finding him a home that will help him! There is a group that will help assist, in some manner, with the cost of his treatment to an approved adopter. Don't let this be the reason you don't adopt him, he still deserves a loving family! Come meet Chris at the Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt. Gilead, OH. 419-946-1747 February 29, 2024, 12:05 am

Story
Flash is a 1 yr old Pitbull/Boxer mix.  He is fearful and concerned over new people so patience is necessary with him. We suspect this may be a reaction to being abandoned. He was removed from a property after being left alone for several days.  He is playful and loves snacks.  He will walk ok on leash but does pull some.  Flash is young and will need some basic obedience but he does already know some commands. As part of the adoption process we require all dogs to meet your current dogs before adoption is approved. Anyone interested should stop in to meet him and complete an application if interested. Story
Miss Naomi. Siberian Husky. Possibly a hybrid. She has piercing hazel-blue eyes and unique facial features/markings. She is spunky and fun. Naomi has a neat personality, knows some commands, Loves snacks and belly rubs. When she connects with you she connects. She has been nothing but gentle and sweet with us at the shelter. Gets super excited when she sees us but can be leery of strangers. She has met other dogs and did well. She also met a cat at the vet and was non reactive (but she was very afraid and stressed at the vet so this may have caused her to be disconnected).Naomi is underweight. We are working on that at the shelter. She was found on 7/3/2023 with No collar, No ID, No Microchip in Westfield Township.Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt.
