Story
Before her rescue, Ripley was a devoted mom to a litter of puppies. Now, it’s finally her turn to be pampered and spoiled. She loves people and greets everyone with tail wags and enthusiasm—sometimes a little too much excitement, but with some gentle reminders, she’s quick to learn. Ripley is a spirited, high-energy 3-year-old who’s ready to find a forever home that matches her zest for life! This athletic girl lives for movement—she loves to run, play, and will gleefully destroy any toy that crosses her path. She’s fantastic with other dogs and adores children, making her a great match for an active family with kids or playful pups. Ripley thrives in a home that’s always on the go—whether it’s hikes, runs, or backyard zoomies, she’s all in. A quiet, laid-back lifestyle just isn’t her thing; she’s looking for a household that’s as energetic as she is. Ripley is crate trained, housebroken, and knows basic commands like “sit.” She’s also super smart and very treat-motivated, so training is a breeze with the right snacks and consistency. Important note: Ripley cannot be in a home with cats or small animals. She has a strong prey drive and takes her “squirrel patrol” duties very seriously—your yard will be rodent-free! If your home is filled with energy, love, and adventure, Ripley just might be your perfect match. Ready to make her part of your pack? ##2223382##

Update: Lexi has an adoption pending! Lexi is a beautiful, sweet Black Lab mix. She is small at 47 lbs. Lexi is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and on monthly preventatives. She was found as a stray with her brothers Luke and Duke. Lexi is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows "sit" but will need some basic training. Lexi is very smart and learns fast. She loves other dogs and is currently in doggie day care at Paws by the Lake. She is a little shy at first but once she gets to know you - she is your best friend! Lexi would do best in a home with a fenced in yard, not electric. If you are interested in Lexi, please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure Lexi would be a good match for you and your family. We do not do out of state adoptions, due to our trial adoption process. Adoption fee/donation is $200.00 If you have specific questions, please email the adoption coordinator at info@loveastraydog.com If you can't foster or adopt, please consider donating to help us with medical expenses and ongoing care. You can mail your donation to: Love-A-Stray, P.O. Box 125, Attn: Lexi, Avon Lake, OH 44012 or visit www.loveastraydog.com for credit card/PayPal information, adoption application, available dogs and upcoming events. Thank you!

Story
Meet Mr. Magoo!! This charming, blind dog is one of a kind! He is approximately 10 years old and weighs 50 lbs. Originally the vet clinic thought he was around 8 years old but after further review they believe he is more like 10–11-year-old. He has a wonderful personality! Mr. Magoo was named after the volunteer's favorite cartoon! Check out the video, sampling treats at the Grateful Dog Bakery ;-). Mr. Magoo is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows his basic commands. He is a super laid-back guy. Mr. Magoo is happy chewing a bone on his dog bed or being a lap dog HA!! He is dog friendly and loves all the people he meets. Mr. Magoo does require daily eye drops, but he takes them like a champ. He navigates well and mainly hangs around his dog bed and crate. His temporary foster said he actually does not need a crate, because he does not "wander around" but he is also very comfortable in a crate. We are looking for a retirement home for him and a fenced in yard would be a HUGE bonus. He was originally rescued from the LCDK, he needed treatment for pneumonia and after he recovered Love-A-Stray had him completely vetted at the Avon Lake Animal Clinic. Please consider offering this special guy a forever home or a temporary foster home. Love-A-Stray provides everything needed for the foster program. If you are interested in Mr. Magoo, please submit an online application, so we can learn a little about you to make sure Mr. Magoo would be a good match for you and your family. We do not do out of state adoptions, due to our trial adoption process. Brody is a great puppy but needs trained. He loves people to include children. He has not been around other animals so I am not sure how he will react. He is crate trained, not house trained. Unfortunately with jobs, our schedules would keep him in a crate most of the day and he deserves better. Looking to rehome him to an owner or family who can give him more attention.

Update: Luke has an adoption pending! Meet Luke! Luke is a super sweet and smart Lab Shepard mix. He is 60 lbs and approx. 9 months old. Luke is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Luke was found as a stray with his brother and sister, Duke and Lexi, also posted for adoption. Luke is eager to please his human and very trainable. Luke is in a fantastic foster home and has learned all his basic commands; sit, paw, heel and stop. He will sit patiently in his place for his food and is working on new commands daily. Luke walks well on lead and loves to play fetch. Luke is crate trained and goes to his crate well. He sleeps in it overnight and surprisingly likes to sleep in! He is housebroken too. Luke has energy spurts and zoomies like all young dogs, but for the most part he is happy playing with a toy at your feet, or cuddles up for long naps in your lap or his favorite spot. He is pretty low key for a 9 month old dog. Luke will chew on items left on the floor (a house is a new environment for him) but he is quickly learning what he can and can’t have. For now, though, he can’t be left free in the house unattended so he should be crated. Luke would do well with another dog or a bustling family with kids or a couple that has time to play! He’s a pretty adaptable dog. If you are interested in Luke, please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure Luke would be a good match for you and your family. We do not do out of state adoptions, due to our trial adoption process.
