Story
Molly is a 1 yr old female who has a lot of energy and needs a lot of playtime and exercise. She is very sweet dog and loves people after she gets to know you. She can be alittle skittish around strangers and new dogs. She is a very healthy dog and doesn’t have any medical history that I know of. She was a pup from a litter we had and we tried to find a home and kept failing so we decided to keep her. Unfortunately our older dogs are not getting along with her and there has been some tension and fights with another older dog that she lives with. So we think it’s for the best and her safety to rehome her.

Story
We adopted Luna from the Antietam Humane Society in June of 2023. Her birthday is January 29, 2023. Luna is incredibly energetic and fun-loving. She loves to snuggle and play outside. As much as we love her, we believe she would be a better fit in a home where more opportunities for play and exercise can be provided. Although we do have a fenced in backyard, we feel she isn't happy without more room to move about and other animals to play with. She does very well with other dogs. She loves to play with our cats. She plays great with our 13 year old child but younger children may get scared by her size and energy level. She is not aggressive or mean in any way, just very energetic. She has been through 2 sessions of formal dog training and knows basic commands. She is crate trained for bedtime. Due to living in an animal shelter, she is scared of loud noises, stairs, cars, and can be fearful of going on walks or to unknown places.

Story
I have to be honest rehoming Buster is going to break our family's heart! He's such a sweet dog. The problem is he is an escape artist, and we have a young child who knows how to open doors and neighborhood kiddos that come in and out. It's become a problem in the neighborhood because he makes catching him a game. We just had our fifth child and Buster is starting to try and play fight with the neighbor's dog since we don't have a fenced-in back yard. I just don't have the time nor the energy (although I wish I could handle it) to be in two places at once.

Story
Meet Coco! Coco is one of our longest residents at the shelter and is looking for a special home to help teach her that the world is not so scary. We are looking for a very structured foster or adoptive home for Coco due to some of the behaviors we have seen here in the shelter. Coco is very excitable and has a hard time calming herself down. When she is kept to a routine, less of these behaviors appear. Staff has been working with Coco to learn that calm behavior equals more attention and rewards! All interactions with Coco need to be done in a calm manner and stop if Coco starts getting overstimulated. This girl will need to go into an adult-only home, and without other animals. She would do best in a home where someone can dedicate time long-term to her training. We are unsure of how Coco was treated in her past, but we can only imagine it was not kindly. She is quick to react to situations or people that she finds uncomfortable or scary and can take multiple meetings to warm up to new people. Due to this, we are suggesting only positive training in her future. Coco is very treat motivated and enjoys snuffle mats and they have worked as great training tools for her! Coco has stolen the hearts of many staff and we would love to see her thrive in a home. The staff who works with her has seen how sweet Coco can be and how hard she has worked to be her best and not to mention that big smile! We are able to see the playful, goofy side of this pup and want her to find a home where she is comfortable enough to show that to someone else! If you are potentially interested in fostering or adopting Coco, please speak to staff to further discuss her behaviors and what placement we are seeking for her. Coco is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Availability date: 10/17/2022

Story
Bear has been with us for over 130 days and is still looking for his forever home! Bear would do best in a home with structured routine that he would be able to learn and adapt to. He is a dog that seeks guidance, and would do best with an owner willing to dedicate more time to his training and keeping him active. Bear does not do well with other dogs and cats and would do best as the only pet in the home. He has done well with older children but may be too rowdy for young kids. Bear loves to be outside on walks or exploring in the shelter's yards. He has made a lot of progress with his leash walking and does better on a harness opposed to a collar. He is still working on his basic training but is extremely treat and toy motivated and has been making good progress! Bear loves rope and ball toys, and has a blast romping around the yard! Staff knows how awesome of a dog Bear can be and believe with the right routine and training he can be an even better pup. This boy has plenty of energy and would do great in a home looking for an adventure buddy! If you are interested in Bear, or think he may be a good fit for your home, feel free to stop by and meet him and apply to adopt! Bear is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Story
Madison came to us as a stray in May 2023 after she was found running loose and is looking for an energetic home to call her own! Madison is a very go, go, go pup and would love to find a family that will help her get all that energy out! She loves to zoom around the yard and chase stuffy toys around. Madison needs work on her leash manners but is always excited to take a ride in the car or to be out and about! Madison has not done well with cats or dogs while in our care and would do best as the only animal in the home. She is extremely selective with other dogs but we would be open to having a dog meet-and-greet depending on the circumstances. Madison is very rowdy and does not always realize her size. When she wants attention she will hop up or run into you in her excitement. She may not be the best fit for a home with young children, or children not use to very energetic dogs. Staff has been working with Madison on her manners and her basic training, and while she is picky on the treats she likes, she is always happy to get butt scratches! Madison currently knows sit and is eager to learn more! Madison is currently housed in our intake building, but is available to be visited with upon request! If you think this little lady would be a good fit for your home, stop by and meet her today! Madison is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Availability date: 08/09/2023
