You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant. Are you interested in a dog who is not yet listed? Have you already spoken to an RORR volunteer about an unlisted dog? He is fully obedience trained (including sit-stay, down-stay, heal, loose-leash-walking, “place,” etc…) and loves working with his humans. He is an expert at running agility courses and is always up for a new challenge. He is so smart and obedient, he almost became a search and rescue dog! If you want a buddy who can motivate you and keep up with you while you go for a long run, take a challenging hike, go for a bike ride, or just spend time with you outdoors, and then come home and snuggle with you on the couch, Heath is the right dog for you! Heath adores every person he has ever met, and he really enjoys a good cuddle and some love, and seeing him smile ear to ear will always brighten your day. He really enjoys playing fetch and tug-of-war. He loves training and working through his obedience cues. He is high energy and would love to live in a yard with a 6 foot fence so he can gallop and play around with you at home. Heath loves other dogs and would do best with another dog who is as playful and goofy as he is, he could also make a great only dog. He would love to live with a family with older children, a couple, or to be the best buddy to a single owner. Don’t let his middle-age fool you, Heath is a young dog in his heart, body, and soul. He is always ready to jump right into a new adventure with a big grin, high-hopes, and a whole heart. Everyone who works at the boarding facility where he currently lives, wants to take him home, he is just that charismatic and sweet. If you think Heath may be right for you, please come on by and see him. Don’t miss out on this one. He’d be so happy to meet you!   No cats!!!!  If you are interested in Heath, please contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com      *** Click here to sponsor this dog! *** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 21, 2023, 11:56 pm

A note from his foster:  He’s perfectly well-behaved in the house. House-trained, gentle and happily goes into his crate at night or when asked. He’s smart and knows some commands. Seems to take satisfaction from pleasing humans, with just enough personality to make you laugh. He knows enough to test boundaries, but quickly course-corrects. This pup is grateful for getting the pets and is thrilled with the bully-rub.  He’s happy to nap by your feet during work calls, lay in the sun, and eager to go for walks. Good on a leash. Happy to sit for his harness and takes commands well when leaving the house. His prey drive is high — gets too excited about squirrels, most birds, other critters that scurry. He’s not well-suited for other dogs. Or cats.  He’s got some hound in his mix; loves to sniff and on the occasions when a siren would pass he would sing along. (Adorable.) Not a crazy barker, but can sound fierce when he does bark. He’s more of a gentle giant with humans. Did just fine with new people coming into the home. Sheds a lot!  Harley would live his best life in a home where he’s the only pet. A privacy-fenced yard to run free in would be nice, I suspect, but he’s seemingly just as happy to live in a city and go for walks a few times a day. Contact with other dogs would have to be limited.  He’s the perfect dog if you’re looking for a loyal best friend, and don’t have other pets.  Due to his being dog selective, we will only place Admiral in a home with childern 14 and older. If you are interested in Admiral, please contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com      *** Click here to sponsor this dog! *** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 21, 2023, 11:56 pm

Poor Tucker has just never been able to find a family who loves him unconditionally and can make a commitment to him!Tucker is a very laid back guy who enjoys lounging in the sun, napping and watching TV. He is also happy to go for runs or chase balls around the yard. Tucker does not care for other animals and does take his possessions at little too seriously at times. He would be successful in a quiet, adult only home where he can play when he wants to play and relax when he wants to relax. He is house trained and has very good house manners.A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Tucker, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other 'slow to adopt' dogs!Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. He has a very Golden retriever personality. Still young, at only 2 and a half, he has not known a lot of love in his few years on earth. While not having been mistreated, he was more rather ignored, and as soon as you meet him you realize his main goal in life is to be loved for the good boy that he is. He has lived with several other dogs and done very well with them, but he longs to have human companionship. After waiting for two years, we think he deserves the very best! Perhaps that 'best' will be you! A good, sturdy, beautiful young girl. This lovely lady is looking for her forever home with someone who loves hounds and all they bring with them,. She will sing 'The song of my people' in that melodious voice of the true hound and become for you about the best friend there can be. Because her nose is so active and she can follow a scent forever, we will require her new home have a physical fence to keep her safe. We have made sure she is good to go, having gotten her all her shots and vet checked. We have found she is fine with and likes other dogs. Can you see her loping across your backyard, her looong ears floating behind her in the breeze? How about walking next to you on an exploring trip, her nose to the ground taking every scent and categorizing it in her intelligent brain? If you are a hound lover, you have just found the right girl for you!Update from Laurel's foster:  Laurel is definitely all HOUND. She loves to sniff all around the yard and on walks. She needs a fenced yard so she can run and play frisbee or ball (she won’t bring it back, but loves to fetch it), and a family that will take her on adventures. She loves rides and is calm in the car. She’s a great hiker, and is happy heading out on dog-friendly errands and to dog-friendly venues. She loves getting attention from new people! She has an amazing houndy bark, and will use it to ward off the lawn mower or tell you she’d like to go out or come back in. She barks at bunnies and to tell you (or her dog friends) that she needs some attention! Other than that, she’s not terribly excitable, and is generally pretty chill. Speaking of dog friends, she is SO happy being part of a “pack”. She loves to romp and wrestle, but takes cues from other dogs about when it’s time to settle. She pays tug with her rope and shares chew bones. She gets bored easily when she’s the only dog. A perfect home for Laurel has a playful dog friend! And, by the way, she has been around cats a few times, and couldn’t care less about them! She will absolutely SHRED stuffed toys, but the stuffies that have “survived” Laurel are now safely tucked away! Kind of sad because she is the picture of sheer joy tearing them to shreds, but we don’t want to take a chance on her swallowing something she shouldn’t!Young kids are a bit too much for Laurel, so only teens and up for our girl.  Laurel will sit and generally come when called, unless she has another idea about what she’d rather do.  That is probably a hound thing. :)  She will benefit with training. She’s a smart pup, and I think learning new things in a structured, positive way would be so good for her.   If you are interested in Laurel, please fill out an application at: https://reachoutrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4588    Or contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com   *** Click here to sponsor this dog! ***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 21, 2023, 11:56 pm
