Story
Bowie is a great dog. He listens he is loyal he is fun loving and easy to take care of. He is a little over a year old now and about 40 pounds. He wont get much bigger or maybe even not bigger at all. We have an older dog / two little kids / 1 baby on the way. With our schedule between work and family it is just difficult to consistently take him out on longer walks or show him much love and we think Bowie would be better suited in a home that can show him the love and affection he deserves!

Story
Ceniza's life began with hardship. Likely used for breeding and then discarded, she came to us as a timid one-year-old. Now about six years old, she has grown into a loving, gentle companion who is easy to be around. She is quiet, affectionate, great with kids, and loves both cuddles and playtime. Her sweet, energetic spirit has brought so much joy into our lives. Because of her past, Ceniza does have challenges. She is not friendly toward other animals, so she would do best as the only pet in a household. She also struggles with anxiety when left alone, so she feels safest being crated during those times. While these needs may sound like obstacles, they are small compared to the warmth and loyalty she gives every day. As much as we adore her, our relocation makes it impossible to give her the stable environment she deserves. Finding her a new home is a heartbreaking decision, but the right family will gain a devoted companion who will reward them with endless love and joy.

Story
We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs to their new home leaving by January 9th 2026 (could be sooner!) to the east coast from where we are located here in Southern California. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Abbie to our trip for the right home/home! As always for our adopters peace of mind we never ask for anything up front! Her adoption fee, along with her adopting families share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person with Abbie ultimately finalizing her adoption. Meet Abbie 💗 Abbie is the kind of little dog who slips into your life with a softness that feels like she was always meant to be there. She has the sweetest, most serene temperament—gentle, loving, and incredibly attentive to her person. At just over 8 lbs with a straight, hypoallergenic Havanese-Poodle mix coat, she’s a delicate, elegant little companion who loves with her whole heart in the quietest, most comforting ways. She doesn’t need grand gestures or constant activity; she simply wants to belong, to be held, to be near, and to be someone’s steady little shadow throughout the day. She came to us from an older gentleman in a wheelchair who adored his dogs dearly but could no longer physically care for them. His love for them was clear, and making the choice to surrender them was an act of true devotion—putting their futures first. Although the dogs in his home knew one another, their bond was truly with him, not with each other, so it became very clear that finding individual families for each of them was the right next step. Abbie has taken that transition with so much grace. She trusts easily, she loves openly, and she holds no hesitation in her heart. Abbie is wonderfully behaved and exceptionally easy to live with. She is house trained and on a consistent 3–4 hour outdoor potty routine. She sleeps peacefully in her crate at night, though she would happily curl up beside your bed or in it if you prefer—she is very adaptable and thrives in routine and closeness. She’s not a barker, but she will softly alert you to unfamiliar noises in a way that feels helpful rather than reactive. She loves other dogs and cats and blends in with any home dynamic beautifully, though her true happiness comes from being with her person. She has a playful side that comes out in the yard during sunbathing sessions, but even then, it’s gentle and joyful, never chaotic or overwhelming. Abbie enjoys grooming and adores being pampered—she stands calmly and loves every bit of the attention. She is wonderful on road trips, happiest resting in your lap, which is why we recommend a booster seat for safe travel when she can’t be held by someone other than the driver. Her manners in the home are impeccable; she is calm, respectful, and content simply being near you. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/abbie-1 She is fully vetted—spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines, and has had a full dental cleaning with necessary extractions, along with a complete exam by our veterinarian. Her adoption fee helps cover her medical care, dental extractions, microchip, months of care with us, her grooming needs, and the training and structure we’ve provided to prepare her for this next chapter. Note: Abbie will need to be on a soft food diet for now as sadly almost all of her teeth had to be removed. (She has 6 teeth left, two of which are her bottom k9's so no, her tounge isn't hanging out (it's a question we get a lot!!) She is as beautiful and perfect as ever, just with less teeth 🙃 Abbie is ready for someone who wants a loving, peaceful, deeply devoted companion. If you’re looking for a soft little soul who will give you her entire heart without hesitation, she may be your perfect match.

Story
We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs to their new home leaving by January 9th 2026 to the east coast from where we are located here in Southern California. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Holly to our trip for the right home! As always for our adopters peace of mind we never ask for anything up front! Her adoption fee will be due the day we arrive in person with Holly ultimately finalizing her adoption 💗 Holly’s story is one that stays with you long after you hear it. Born on 5/15/23, she is a beautiful Cockapoo with a soft, hypoallergenic poodle coat and the gentlest spirit. But the life she lived before coming into our rescue was anything but gentle. Holly spent her young life with a breeder who viewed her only through the lens of profit. She was bred repeatedly until her body gave out, and when she could no longer produce, she was thrown away without a thought for what she had endured. What we didn’t know until she was surrendered to us was just how much pain she had been silently carrying. Both of her back legs were severely injured. Her hip was completely dislocated. Her knee on the conjoining back legs was also dislocated and unnaturally twisted. Her knee had been breaking down from the strain of trying to survive with barely any functional mobility. She had been living this way for far too long, her suffering overlooked by those who were meant to care for her. Even so, Holly arrived with a sweetness that stopped us in our tracks — a quiet gratitude, a willingness to trust, a softness that showed just how much love she still had left to give despite everything she had been through. We moved quickly. Our orthopedic surgeon performed an FHO (femoral head ostectomy) to stabilize the weight-bearing leg. Once she began healing, she underwent another complex and specialized surgery to reconstruct her knee — a surgery that gave her not just comfort, but a true chance at a pain-free life. She has been spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, received a complete dental cleaning, and has been monitored through countless exams, x-rays, medications, and follow-up appointments over the course of many months. Every step forward was one she fought for — and one we fought right alongside her. Today, after more than $10,000 in medical care, months of recovery, and the unwavering commitment of everyone who has loved her through this journey, Holly has finally been cleared by our vet to begin looking for a forever home of her own. And she is so, so deserving. Holly moves gently and confidently now, free from the constant pain that once overshadowed her life. She enjoys soft play, leisurely walks, cozy spaces, and quiet moments with the people she trusts. She is an incredibly tender girl whose heart opens fully when she feels safe. She bonds deeply, listens beautifully, and carries herself with a calm elegance that makes you instinctively want to protect her. She does wonderfully with other gentle, respectful dogs and would thrive with a calm canine companion or as the only dog in a home that offers her softness and stability. She isn’t a dog who needs chaos, constant activity, or a busy lifestyle. She is a dog for a peaceful home — one built on love, routine, patience, and understanding. She is a companion for someone who values the emotional connection a dog can bring, someone who sees her not just for where she is now, but for what she survived to get here. Her journey has been long, emotional, and incredibly costly, but every ounce of effort has led to this moment — where she finally gets to be considered for the kind of life she should have always had. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/holly-1 Her adoption fee is placed at our highest tier, not because it reflects her worth — that could never be measured — but because it acknowledges the extraordinary medical care she required to reclaim her life. Though we have invested well over $10,000 in her surgeries and treatment, this fee simply helps us continue offering the same chance to future dogs who come to us broken, discarded, or in desperate need of intervention. We have complete medical records and receipts documenting every part of her journey. If you feel drawn to Holly… if her resilience, her grace, and her quiet strength speak to you… if you believe you are the person who can offer her a lifetime of comfort, gentleness, and unwavering love… then we would be honored to hear from you. Holly has waited her whole life to be someone’s cherished girl. Whoever she chooses will be receiving one of the most special souls to ever pass through our rescue — a dog whose heart survived what her body could not, and who is finally ready for the kind of home where she is treasured, safe, and loved beyond measure.

Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Alfie to our trip for the right home! As always for our adopters peace of mind we never ask for anything up front! His adoption fee, along with his adopting families share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person with Alfie ultimately finalizing his adoption. From the moment Alfie arrived in our arms at just eight weeks old, it was clear he was a little soul who had already been deeply loved. His prior owner brought him to us with a very heavy heart. After losing her husband and suddenly becoming the only caretaker in her home, she realized that although her desire for companionship was strong, the timing simply wasn’t right for her to take on the needs of a growing puppy. Wanting only the very best future for him, she made the brave and loving choice to entrust him to us so he could find the life she wished she could give him. And truly… this little boy is something special. Alfie is a purebred Miniature Poodle with a soft, beautiful coat and a naturally sweet, intuitive nature. He currently weighs 6 lbs and is expected to mature around 10–12 lbs—small enough to be the perfect lap companion, but sturdy enough to join you in your day-to-day adventures. His temperament is remarkable: affectionate, bright, deeply social, and so eager to bond. He is one of those rare puppies who wears joy so naturally that you feel it simply by being in his presence. He adores people and naturally gravitates toward connection—cuddling against you during quiet moments, gently curling up beside you at night, or following you from room to room as if every part of your world fascinates him. He sleeps beautifully in bed with you, but he is also crate trained and will settle comfortably if a crate-at-night routine fits better in your home. Around other dogs, Alfie shines just as brightly. He is playful, respectful, and wonderfully social—one of those dogs who instantly makes friends wherever he goes. He’s been fantastic at the groomers, enjoys little road trips around town, and carries an innate curiosity that will make exploring the world alongside him truly special. House training is going wonderfully so far. He follows a reliable schedule every couple of hours and also understands puppy pads if needed. Leash training has just begun now that his vaccines are complete, and given his intelligence and eagerness to please, we expect he’ll catch on quickly. He is very much a puppy ready to step confidently into the world. His adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/alfie It covers all of his veterinary care to date (vaccines, microchip/registration, fecal testing, deworming, his full exam, and his issued health certificate), as well as the months of care, meals, grooming upkeep, and the early training foundation he has received with us. Every adoption directly supports our ability to continue rescuing and preparing dogs like Alfie for the beautiful lives they deserve. Alfie is one of those puppies who feels like a gift the moment you meet him—soft-hearted, emotionally attuned, and overflowing with the kind of warmth that makes a home feel fuller and brighter. Whoever opens their heart to him will be gaining a lifelong friend who gives his whole heart in return.

As always for our adopters peace of mind we never ask for anything up front! His adoption fee, along with his adopting families share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person with Benny ultimately finalizing his adoption. Meet Benny 💙 Some puppies simply have “it” — that gentle spark, that intuitive sweetness, that soft, loving presence that wraps around you the moment they crawl into your arms. Benny is one of those rare little souls. Even at such a young age, he carries a calm confidence and an emotional awareness that feels far beyond his months. He came to us from a home where he was deeply loved and spoiled in the best ways, and you can feel that history in how connected he is to people. The devotion he offers is pure, immediate, and full-hearted. His journey to us was a tender one. His prior owner adored him and struggled tremendously with the decision to surrender him. A sudden breakup and the need to return to full-time work meant Benny would no longer have the companionship he was accustomed to — and she knew that wouldn’t be fair to him. She chose the selfless path, asking us to take him in and ensure he found a home where he could continue to be someone’s whole world. Because that is exactly what Benny is meant to be: a true companion, a shadow, a love-at-your-side kind of dog. He is incredibly smart — shockingly so for his age — and don’t let his size fool you. When you call “Benny!”, you hear his little paws pattering toward you from wherever he is, bursting with excitement just to be close. His heart lives for connection. And he is doing phenomenal at his house training — truly remarkable for a puppy his age. He goes outside every couple of hours to use the restroom, and due to his tiny size, he is always supervised for his safety. He’s attentive, willing, and eager to learn, which makes him such a joy in a structured home. He is a snuggler to his core, happiest pressed against your chest or curled at your side. Sleeping in bed with his person is one of the joys of his life, so if dogs in the bed aren’t your thing, he may not be the right fit. His previous owner let him be her cuddle buddy, and that comfort has shaped who he is. He’s the kind of dog who wants to wake up with his head on your pillow and fall asleep knowing you’re right there. Crates, though, are not his preference. We believe it’s the feeling of confinement — after being so bonded to his person his whole life, he simply doesn’t understand being separated or closed away. He isn’t destructive, and he isn’t mischievous; he just thrives when he’s near the people he loves. Being kept apart feels foreign to him, and we want to honor the emotional safety he has built through closeness, not separation. He LOVES his beds — so much so that we keep one in every space he spends time in. He’ll flop into them dramatically, roll on his back, or tuck himself in like a tiny burrito. In the car, he enjoys looking out the window, taking in the world with those big expressive eyes. And at the groomer? He’s an absolute dream. Being pampered suits him, and he handles grooming like a seasoned professional. Leash training hasn’t begun yet, as we needed to make sure all his vaccines were fully current before introducing him to the outside world. Now that he’s officially cleared, his new world is opening up — and with his eager-to-please personality, we have no doubt he’ll take to leash training beautifully and naturally. On the health side, Benny was born 5/22/25 and is completely current on everything age-appropriate. He has had a great full exam with our vet, is microchipped, has had his deworming based on fecal results sent to the lab, and is going home with a health certificate showing he has been fully cleared for adoption. He weighs 5.5 lbs currently and is expected to be around 10–12 lbs full grown. He is a purebred Maltese, and everything about him — his coat, his temperament, his expression — reflects the sweetness and refinement of his breed. Because he is still so young, he will be going home on a neuter contract, as it is important to allow him time to grow and mature before being fixed. What Benny needs most is someone who truly wants a companion. Someone who loves a dog that follows them from room to room, listens for their voice, and melts into their lap the moment they sit down. He thrives on closeness and emotional connection. He is eager to please, affectionate, and has one of those soft, intuitive personalities that simply makes a home feel warmer. If you’re looking for a sweet soul who will meet you at the door every day with his whole heart shining in his eyes, Benny is waiting for you. His adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/benny which covers all of his veterinary care to date (including vaccines, microchip/registration, fecal testing, deworming, his full exam, and his issued health certificate), as well as the months of care, meals, grooming upkeep, and training he has received with us. Every adoption directly supports our ability to continue rescuing and preparing dogs like Benny for the beautiful lives they deserve.
