Story

Vader is between 1 to 2 years old and was found stray in Philly. He waited patiently for his owner but no one showed up. While waiting at the shelter, volunteers and vet staff commented that he was a very sweet dog. After his stray hold, off he came to Kodi's Club! Vader enjoys his humans and is overall a cooperative boy. Vader does not automatically bond with his human. There is a hint of a very strict prior life that looks like a weary affect when approached. Patience, space, and an environment that promotes a sense of security and safety are the tools to bring out the real Vader. He was a shell of a boy for a good while, at first. Head down, eyes peering up cautiously as if he must have done something wrong but couldn't figure out what. It was heartbreaking to watch this young, gentle, stunning dog in this mental space. Building confidence can't be rushed, but patience paid off along with never making him feel pressured. He has been a great companion for several of our other dogs, but his first love is playing with all types of balls. Second is taking in all the fabulous scents left in the yard. He arrived both house and crate trained. Vader has a lot of energy but has an off button as well. He is also highly receptive to directions and looks for guidance from his human when unsure. Vader hasn't had much Obedience work beyond basic commands so needs some leash work, as he will pull toward tempting scents of interest and has the strength to pull his handler. On leash walks, he has pretty much not shown interest in other dogs. Free to play in a group at the shelter, he also didn't present as interested in other dogs, but more so in scents in the yard. Vader will require a physically fenced yard. Learning not to jump up as part of his repertoire with new people is on his To Do list. Vader takes treats gently and is very appreciative! Because he's a young boy and needs to be taught to control his excitement, he will require an experienced owner who is also willing to schedule training sessions to fine tune his manners. Story

Maverick is a young boy with a kind soul, a soft personality, a gentle boy. Maverick thrives in a structured environment and with humans who are calm and patient. He will not do well in a home in which his family is harsh, short tempered, or use force. Reasonable patience is the secret to his respect and cooperation because he is a pleaser. He does not have to be 'shown who's boss', he already knows. He adores hanging out with his humans. Maverick was found tied to a dumpster in the dead of winter in inner city Philadelphia. He was reported as friendly, and allowed all handling and petting, with loose bouncy body language, probably because he was so relieved to be found! At the shelter, despite the horrible dumpster experience, he presented with soft eyes and a wagging tail. He was cooperative and allowed easy leashing and handling. On leash, Maverick is well mannered when out for walks with his human or on a pack walk. He's super social, loose, and wiggly and has the typical Rottie lean. He allows all handling and even lets us touch his paws and tail. Maverick has not been cat-tested. Children must be over 12, mature enough to understand what Maverick needs to be comfortable, and have lived with large dogs. Maverick just completed 3 weeks in a Board and Train program in order to build up his confidence. He is very eager to show off all he learned! Herc is a 1 year old fun loving strong boy looking for a family to love and a good time. He came to us with some obedience training, but definitely needs more to address his puppy ways and energy. He is somewhat distracted and strong on leash. While rather enthusiastic, he is also gentle when reminded! Herc never met a stranger, and is quite popular because he is very affectionate. He still has some growing and filling out to do, so he needs a home with a large yard and physical fencing. He's the kind of dog who would thrive on hikes and playing fetch to satisfy his athleticism. As most Rotties, Herc loves food! There are some nice videos on our website. Cats Unknown. Our petite Skylar is a charming upbeat 2 year old girl who is both adventurous and chill. She has a natural curiosity about exploring her environment, but is also quite content just relaxing with a toy. She loves attention and to be petted, but also doesn't hound her human for it. Basically, Skylar is very friendly and energetic, loves giving kisses, and getting belly rubs. Skylar was first impounded at the shelter last year but reclaimed by her owner. Fast forward a year and she was again found as a stray, but loaded with fleas, with pervasive hair loss and bloody scabby skin over her whole back and rump. It was painful to watch this little peanut get around with that level of discomfort. Skylar is quite resilient, fully healed, and ready to roll! Skylar is house and crate trained. Cats are unknown. We clearly have a foodie on our hands! Three year old Gianna will do anything for a treat, but no matter how eager she is, she always takes it gently. Gianna is the best of both worlds. A fun girl who loves to play and to run around, but who also enjoys down time for loving just as much... AND that nub never stops! Gianna is respectful, obedient, loving, and non-reactive. Pebbles! Pebbles is a 3-4 mth old medium to large breed mix. Lab? Hound? Terrier? Some sort of herding dog? All good guesses and possible options. What we do know, is that regardless of the mix, it makes one heck of an adorable (and mischievious) pup! Pebbles has been described as both a future model based on the way she likes to pose for pictures, as well as the most dramatic of our current fosters. So we assume adopting her will be like living with a teenaged girl. There is lots of angst, but also lots of fun....and we can't deny that her cute face can convince us to make lots of bad decisions. She will happily accept any treats you are willing to share with her. Pebbles is also in a playgroup with several other pups and she loves to romp, boss them around a little and overall keep the chaos meter firmly set at Don't Take Your Eyes Off Me. She is also working to perfect her shoelace untying skills so any future family may want to consider Sketchers Slip Ons for the foreseeable future. Like any young pup Pebbles would benefit from a family willing to keep her both exercised and work with her on training to help her be her best self.
