Hi, I'm Sabrina! I am laid back and love a simple routine, but am also excited to explore the world. Though I cherish quiet moments like basking in the sun, I can easily be convinced to go for a walk, a hike, or even pull my owner on a skateboard! Me and my toy ball are inseparable and I'm always eager for a game of fetch or tug of war with it. My independent spirit means I'm content on my own but always loyal to those I love. I've also mastered the art of being super attentive to human's moods and am always ready to offer love, cuddles, and gentle kisses during anxious or hard times. Because I was attacked as a puppy, other dogs make me upset, so I need to be an only pet. If you're looking for a sweet soul to share in both peaceful and playful times, I'm your girl!

She’s a very smart dog. Loves attention. Loves her belly getting scratched. She’s crate trained. We trained her with a shock collar but shock her twice the entire time we’ve had her. She was raised with cats and birds. She doesn’t like small dogs. But we have not reintroduced her to small dogs. She’s full of energy for age.

Hello, this is Oreo. He is a Rottweiler/pitbull mix. I rescued him when he was approximately 10 weeks old. He is 8 years old now. Housebroken. Gets along with other dogs. Loves to lay around. He is a sweetheart that loves people and goes wherever the people are. He is getting older and starting to shed a lot more with noticeable skin issues. He also has been getting ear infections more frequently. Otherwise he is a healthy dog! He is up to date on his rabies shot. Since all the kids have left the house and the adults are not home much, he spends a lot of time alone and his quality of life has noticeably decreased. Oreo would do great with a retired family that spends a lot of time at home. He is a true companion. He would thrive in a sanctuary environment as well.

Meet Dawg (aka Smoke) 🐾 This sweet boy was abandoned at South Park Mall in Colonial Heights. Dawg is from Petersburg, and his former owners are aware that he is safe here at the shelter—they even shared his “Do You Know Me?” post. Abandonment charges are being served Dawg is now available for adoption and is estimated to be around 3 years old. He is truly as sweet as they come—friendly, affectionate, and well-behaved. He loves everyone he meets and has done well meeting other dogs here at the shelter. A meet-and-greet is required for any potential adopters who already have dogs in the home. We haven’t had the chance to cat test him yet. We can’t imagine why no one would come reclaim this wonderful boy, but now we’re focused on finding him the loving home he deserves.

She is super sweet and loves everyone she meets. She would prefer a home without any pets; she does well with them in passing she just does not want to share her space.
