Story
Meet Maizy! She came to the shelter as an owner surrender and is 6 years old. She has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.Maizy is the whole package; she's the type of dog who greets every day like it’s her best one yet, tail wagging and eyes shining, ready for fun and affection. She adores spending time with people and thrives on being part of the action. Whether you’re heading out for a walk or just relaxing on the couch, she’ll be right there beside you. She’s a total cuddle bug who loves belly rubs and gentle pets, and she’ll happily lean into you for hugs like you’re her favorite person in the world. She also enjoys the company of other dogs and would love a canine playmate who can match her friendly, goofy energy. However, Maizy isn’t a fan of cats and would do best in a home without them (she promises to make up for it with extra love and kisses!)If you'd like to be Maizy's furever home you can call us at (540) 778-2101 or email animalshelter@pagecounty.virginia.gov.

Story
Meet Sky! She came to the shelter as a surrender and is about 6 years old. Meet Sky, a sweet and gentle little lady looking for a calm, loving home to call her own. Sky came to the shelter as a surrender, so she can be a little shy when meeting new people at first. But once she gets to know you, her true personality shines; her tail starts wagging, and she gets so excited to head outside for walks and spend time by your side. Sky is very well behaved and polite, making her an easy companion to have around the house. She enjoys attention from her people and will happily repay your kindness with lots of love and loyalty. Sky would prefer to be the only dog in the home, as she isn’t very fond of other dogs. But she promises to make up for it with all the affection and companionship you could ever need. If you'd like to be Sky's furever home you can call (540) 778-2101 or email animalshelter@pagecounty.virginia.gov.

Story
Meet Diesel! He arrived at the shelter as a surrender and is 5 years old. He has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.Diesel is a striking King Shepherd with a big voice to match his big presence. He came to the shelter as a surrender, and he makes his feelings very clear—if he doesn’t know you, he will loudly announce it. Beneath that vocal exterior, though, is a dog who’s simply unsure and trying to navigate a world that changed on him. Diesel tends to be standoffish with unfamiliar people and needs time to decide who he can trust. That said, bring out a squeaky toy or a ball, and you’ll catch a glimpse of his playful side; he absolutely lights up in those moments. The shelter environment has been hard on Diesel and likely adds to his stress and reactivity. In a calmer home, he may be able to decompress and show more of his personality at his own pace. He would do best as the only pet so he can settle in without additional pressure. Diesel is looking for an experienced large-breed owner who understands that trust takes time. He’ll need patience, structure, and someone who respects his boundaries while helping him build confidence. If you'd like to meet Diesel you can call (540) 778-2101 or email animalshelter@pagecounty.virginia.gov.

Story
My name is Tucker. I am a big, lovable, and goofy puppy. I love nothing more than to get love and cuddles from my human. I also love to play outside. I am crate trained and almost completely potty trained.I would do well in a home with another dog my size. Because I am a big puppy, I wouldn't be a good fit in a household with small children. Although I love my foster home, I can't wait to find my furever home. I am being fostered in the Huntsville, AL area but am available to the right home via transport. I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on heartworm prevention. Apply at https://forrescue.net

Story
Meet Guinness 🖤🐾 Guinness is a 5-year-old black pittie with a calm soul and the gentlest heart. Found as a stray and never reclaimed, it’s hard to imagine how anyone could have let him go. Everything about him feels like he once belonged to someone who loved him deeply — and now he’s patiently waiting for that love again. At around 48 lbs, Guinness is the definition of easygoing. No jumping, no chaos — just soft eyes that quietly ask, “Will you love me?” He takes treats politely, walks nicely on leash (and might even “walk” you a house or two), and is crate trained. He rides well in the car, though he’ll need a little boost getting in — he’s just not a jumper, not even onto furniture. Guinness prefers peace over chaos. He does well with both small and big humans and seems happy to meet other dogs, especially those his size or smaller. He’d thrive in a home looking for a steady, affectionate companion rather than a high-energy pup. Guinness is: ✔️ Neutered ✔️ Microchipped ✔️ Fully vaccinated (rabies up to date) ✔️ Heartworm positive — has received his first treatment and is on preventatives ✨ Available for transport (adopter pays transport fee) He may not be flashy, but Guinness is the kind of loyal, gentle companion who will quietly change your life. 🤎 Ready to meet Guinness? 👉 Fill out an adoption application on our website #FORrescue #FriendsofRescue #AdoptGuinness #RescueDog #PittieLove #BlackDogMagic #HeartwormWarrior #CalmCompanion #AdoptDontShop
