Story
Coco aka Jessie is a 28 lbs 3-4 yr old spayed female mix breed who is in Warrenton, VA and ready for adoption. She is vaccinated, microchipped and has been fully treated for heartworm. She will have no issues going forward and is looking for a life full of adventures and snuggles. This is a prime example of the medium energy type dog we reference on our application. While she definitely enjoys walks and playtime outside she is very settled in the home and loves to snuggle with you in bed. She is good on a leash and loves to ride in the truck. Cat tested well and currently fostered with a ton of dogs. She is definitely a leader type so not likely well suited to a home with a boss female already in residence but otherwise is definitely dog friendly. No problem with kids she is respectful and doesn’t jump on people. Story
Lola has had 2 homes in her 7 yr life, both were with retired ladies and both times she had to be rehomed after they were no longer able to keep her in their homes. She is adjusting to being in a foster home again and we are hoping her next home can be her last. She is 10 lbs and a leggy girl. Good with dogs and cats and mature kids should be fine, not sure we would recommend her for a home with young kids. She leash walks fine and has lived in an apartment but we are sure she would love a fenced in yard as well. Located in Warrenton, VA

Story
Is Valentine’s Day not your deal? Wanna skip the whole dang month of February and get right to the good stuff? Are you looking for a friendly and outgoing new friend to celebrate with? Jordan could be your man! This guy is rocking the Saint Paddy vibes with his new collar and we can definitely see this social guy enjoying outdoor bars and restaurants. He is around 3 yrs old, 60 lbs and is most likely a Bully mix. He is very friendly, the type of guy that’s never met a stranger. Walks into new environments like he owns them. Has been fostered with other dogs as well as cats. He is a wonderful blend of play and chill and while he does need to polish up his leash skills he is definitely a type that won’t mind you going to work after a walk, just leave the TV on for him. Housebroken, crates well and is fully vetted. #hmrjordan in Warrenton, VA. But transport available. https://form.jotform.com/hailmaryrescue/hail-mary-rescue-adoption-applicati

Story
Ok, let’s try this again. Poor Maple has had 2 people that said they wanted to adopt her and then ghosted her. We honestly are at a total loss as to why. She is dog friendly, we’ve had her on leash with a wide variety or dogs and zero issues and she has been off leash in a play yard with both male and female dogs with zero issues. She is a more submissive personality right now, but plays well and definitely loves a good game of tag. She tested fine with the cats, has shown normal interests in the horses and cows, has been around farm equipment and is fine. She is a naturally neat dog and no issues in house. Rides well in the truck and is a pretty clean slate for someone to take on and train. Right at a year old and 55 lbs. she was a backyard oops litter that never found a home. Finding her way into the shelter after being left tied in the cold and snow. If you are actually interested in adopting Maple send in an app or an email. Happy to answer any questions and we can test further if needed.

Story
There’s always one special soul waiting just a little longer for a loving home. Today, that soul is Bunny Burkett. Bunny is a sweet, fun, one-year-old hound weighing about 37 pounds, whose journey began when she was brought in as a stray in November of 2025. Despite her endearing nature, Bunny remains unnoticed, her kennel passed by time and again. Perhaps it’s her vibrant spirit that makes her seem overwhelming at first glance, but beneath that energetic exterior is a dog who just wants to belong and to give her love to a family. Bunny adores children and dreams of a playmate. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and with cats who know their way around pups. Bunny is ready to be your unwavering companion, your “ride or die,” and is always eager to greet you with a wagging tail and open heart. We don’t often let emotions guide us, but Bunny’s story is deserving of a gentle tug on your heartstrings. She deserves to be cherished, to find her place in a home where love is abundant and every day brings hope. Shelter life can never offer the consistent training, affection, and social connection she craves, but with you, Bunny will flourish and reveal the very best of herself. Please, visit the shelter any day except Wednesday, between 12:00 and 4:00 PM, and ask to meet Bunny. We promise, she’ll bring a smile to your face and leave paw prints on your heart you’ll never forget. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and really ready to go to her forever home!

Story
Meet Slacky! This blue-eyed, 7/8-year-old boy still has a lot of love to give. Not only is he adorable, but he is also very chill, easy on the leash, listens well, and treat-motivated. He is fine with cats but would do best as the only dog in the home. He loves toys and fluffy blankets which he will curl up in. If you think you might be his fur-ever home - come by to meet him!
