Story
Maple’s young life has already been filled with far too much uncertainty. Her mom and litter siblings were originally dumped and left living outside before they were rescued and brought in. While the rest of her family found homes, we were heartbroken to learn that Maple had been brought into another shelter as a “stray" just a few weeks ago. Sadly, her adopter had rehomed her, and Maple once again found herself abandoned and displaced. With two dump situations and multiple transitions in just ten months of life, it’s no surprise that the world can feel overwhelming to her sometimes. Even so, Maple continues trying her best every single day.At just 10 months old, Maple is still trying to figure out this big, overwhelming world around her. Made up of several working breeds, she’s incredibly intelligent, full of energy, and constantly searching for direction—but underneath all of that is a young dog who simply wants to feel safe, understood, and loved.Maple can be timid when faced with new experiences and will need a patient, committed home willing to help her work through her fears at her own pace. When she gets excited, her playful side bursts out in full force. She loves to play, though she doesn’t quite understand how big she is yet and can be a little rough with humans while having fun. We’re helping her learn better manners and appropriate ways to channel all of her enthusiasm.Maple will need training, structure, guidance, and someone truly dedicated to helping her grow into the dog she’s meant to be. Herding breed experience is highly encouraged, as her nippy tendencies and working-dog instincts could easily turn into unwanted behaviors without proper leadership and consistency. But Maple is worth the effort. Beneath her uncertainty and busy mind is a dog with endless potential—a loyal companion just waiting for someone to believe in her. She needs a home willing to see past the rough edges, celebrate the small victories, and help her discover that the world doesn’t have to be so scary after all. Please apply to adopt at: http://www.pawsgh.org

Story
Meet Raymond — Still the King of Chill 👑☀️Raymond is an almost 11-year-old gentleman who was found as a stray, leaving his past a bit of a mystery. What we do know is this: Raymond has fully embraced the art of taking life slow and savoring the simple joys—preferably from a warm, sunny spot.A true senior soul, Raymond appreciates the little things: a cozy place to lounge, leisurely strolls, and a good scratch behind the ears. Rainy days aren’t his favorite (they interfere with his sunbathing schedule), and he prefers to be the only animal in his kingdom. While he’s not much for cuddling, he truly enjoys being petted and treated with the respect a king deserves.Raymond has been in our care for 394 days and counting, patiently waiting for his forever home. Despite the time that’s passed, he remains sweet, mellow, and quietly hopeful that someone will see him for the gentle companion he is.Please note: Raymond does have daily medications that will need to be continued—but he takes them like a champ. If your perfect day includes soaking up the sunshine with a calm, loyal companion by your side, Raymond is ready to rule your heart—one sunbeam at a time. Please apply to adopt at: http://www.pawsgh.org

Story
Bug’s story began a few years ago when he was abandoned at our facility in the middle of the night alongside his mom, Ruby. Unsure of the world and lacking early stability, Bug grew up learning to navigate life at his own pace. In time, he and Ruby were adopted together, and we were hopeful they had found their forever home.Due to unfortunate and uncontrollable circumstances, Bug has now returned to us and is once again looking for a patient and understanding home.Bug is a gentle, sensitive boy who is still learning to feel confident in new situations. While he may be unsure at first, he has made incredible progress and continues to grow braver every day. He no longer shuts down the way he once did—instead, he approaches new people with curiosity, slowly working up the courage to come over and offer a few cautious sniffs. He does best when he’s allowed to move at his own pace and thrives in calm, low-pressure environments. Bug has formed bonds with staff and volunteers over time and, once he feels safe, shows his incredibly sweet and soft personality. Treats are one of the best ways to earn his trust and help him open up.Bug is still very early in his confidence-building journey and is not yet ready for busy outings or fast-paced experiences. He continues to take things one step at a time, learning that the world can be safe and predictable when approached gently.Bug shares a very special bond with Ruby, and we would love for them to find a home together again. She brings him comfort and helps him feel more secure as he continues to grow.Bug is a tender, soulful boy who just needs time, patience, and understanding. For the right person, watching him learn to trust will be an incredibly meaningful experience. Please apply to adopt at: http://www.pawsgh.org

Story
Wib is a gentle, loving dog who came to us with little experience in the outside world. While he’s still learning to navigate new sights, sounds, and experiences, he’s showing small, heartwarming signs of bravery every day.Wib has learned to build some trust with the staff here at PAWS, but he’ll need a patient, understanding home where he can take things at his own pace. With gentle guidance, reassurance, and plenty of love, he has the potential to blossom into a loyal, affectionate companion who will cherish every moment with his family. He is goofy, talkative, curious, and CUTE! If you have the heart to move slowly, celebrate the little victories, and show a shy soul the meaning of safety and love, Wib could be your perfect match. Please apply to adopt at: http://www.pawsgh.org

Story
Ruby’s story is one of resilience and second chances. A few years ago, she was abandoned at our facility alongside her son, Bug, unsure of the world around her and learning everything from scratch. Despite that difficult start, Ruby began to trust and quickly showed us the sweet, loving dog she truly is. In time, she and Bug were adopted together, and we were hopeful they had found their forever home.Due to unfortunate and uncontrollable circumstances, Ruby and Bug have been returned to our care and are once again searching for a place to call their own.Today, Ruby is a happy, affectionate, and social girl who greets most people with excitement. She has come so far from her early days and truly enjoys being around people, soaking up attention, and making new friends. She has settled back into our routine wonderfully and loves spending time with staff and volunteers—whether it’s heading out for walks, going on little adventures, or just enjoying some quality cuddle time.Ruby does get excited on leash and is still working on her manners, but she’s eager and continues to improve with consistency. Her playful personality really shines during her zoomies in the yard. She can get going fast and fully commit to the moment, sometimes forgetting to hit the brakes—so be ready for some laughs and the occasional enthusiastic “bounce” your way! After playtime, Ruby is all about a good nap and recharging for her next adventure. She’s also still learning about personal space and greetings. Ruby doesn’t quite realize her size and may jump up or try to climb into your lap if given the chance, but with continued guidance, she’s making great progress.Ruby shares a special bond with her son, Bug, and we would love for them to find a home together again. He brings her comfort and companionship, and they truly make a wonderful pair.We do not have a known history of Ruby with cats or small animals and would recommend slow, thoughtful introductions.Ruby has been through a lot of change in her life, but through it all, she has blossomed into a loving, joyful dog who is ready to be part of a family again. 💛Please apply to adopt at: http://www.pawsgh.org
