Story
We adopted Annie through Fetch in the fall of 2020. She was originally found during a storm in Texas with the rest of her litter and lost one of her eyes when she was very young. Because of that trauma, she's always been a very anxious pup and sometimes the anxiousness comes out as aggressiveness. Annie loves to be outside and lay in the backyard, go for long walks, and play (kind of fetch!) with her tennis ball. She reacts to about 50% of dogs on walks but also is best friends with the huskies that live next door so it seems to go either way. She has not spent time around cats or young children. In 2022 we did a 3 week Board & Train program with a trainer so Annie has a pretty good foundation. The trainer is willing to offer the new owner a complimentary lesson to ensure that Annie keeps up with her training. Overall, Annie is a really good dog - never has accidents in the house, doesn't destroy anything, is crate trained and can be very loving.

Story
I am a fun loving, goofy girl. I'm so happy, I wiggle when I walk! My last person didn't want me anymore and now I crave that special person who will love me as much as I love them. My biggest pleasure in life is to make you happy and laugh. I might look like a stiff wind is hitting me from the side, but it only adds to my silly, quirky personality. I haven't met a person yet that I don't like. In fact, I LOVE everybody. I'm great at cuddles too and I'm so good at being calm and respectful, just give me a few minutes to get over my eagerness to meet you. I work really hard at greeting you with a sit, but sometimes I'm so HAPPY to meet you I might forget my manners and jump, but I quickly stop when you remind me. I'm very good in my crate and I'm house trained. I promise to adore you for the rest of my life. Would you like to be my forever person?.

Story
Rose is a combination peaceful, serene with her people and playful young girl especially chasing her Kong Rubber Ball. Soulful eyes just beg you to let me be yours. Chills out after play and takes life easy. She enjoys all kinds of throw toys and is very good about releasing them. Really fun dog with a gentle spirit and loving attitude. A great combination of relatively compact size, super joyful spirit, focused affection and companion, and fun ! Adoption Process Guardianship Application available for download at http://tinyurl.com/MAPSFiles The Adoption process is designed to help best place dogs with homes that are in the best interest of the dogs and their human companions. The adoption process starts with a prescreen review of an Guardian Application. Making decisions about dog placement in adoptive homes is an "art", not a "science", and there will be times when applications will be denied for various reason(s). This is left to the discretion of the MAPS after reviewing relevant information. MAPS reserves the right to make all decisions regarding placement or final disposition of any rescued dog in its care into a foster or adoptive home. There is no guarantee that any applicant(s) requesting to adopt a dog being fostered through MAPS, or posted on MAP's web site, will be granted an adoption. After a successful prescreen, including background checks, the applicant(s) are notified that they can visit the dogs and a time slot is made for the dog and applicant interaction. After the interaction we encourage several days of reflection before adopting a pet to help assure this will be a lifetime commitment of love and quality care for the dog. Next we conduct a home/neighborhood visit to the Guardian Applicant's home. If the home visit proves successful the new mom and/or dad of the dog will sign an Adoption Agreement and share a lifetime of love !

Story
Anna…. She lives to be with you. She enjoys doggy activities but her favorite activity is simply being with you. She loves walks, car rides, tennis ball retrieval or lying near you as you answer emails. Anna doesn’t just live she thrives on her/your daily routine. If you have a busy day, that’s OK she will spend her day watching you work. She is smart, food motivated and eager to please. Her personality and intelligence make her a great student. She has most of the basic commands mastered and is already house and crate trained. She is ready for that next big step in her life. Remember Anna is a book with only a sentence or two in each paragraph. She is waiting for you to finish her life’s story with her. Someone will get a great companion who would love to spend her day on your schedule. Anna has all the right ingredients; wouldn’t you like to bake the cake?

Name: RoxyAge: AdultWeight: ~42 lbsPersonality and Home Recommendations: Hi there! My name is Roxy, I am a sweet friendly girl ready for my forever home. Staying here has been a five star visit, however I'm ready to go home! I enjoy long walks, plenty of treats, and a wide selection of toys. I am a bit shy in new environments and with new people, but I warm up quickly. Medical Needs: I have started some trazadone to help with my stress and anxiety here at the shelter. I also appear to be a healthy man at this time, however I do come from the south where heartworm and other parasites are more prevalent. DCHS has taken great care of me with preventatives at this time, and I should meet my regular vet soon after adoption!Adoption Fee: $350 + TaxIf you'd like to meet me, click the "Learn About the Adoption Process" button below to plan a visit to the shelter! To ensure that we can keep our staff healthy and able to care for our animals we ask that you please stay home if:*You're feeling unwell, or are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19; You've tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days or are awaiting test results; You've been in close contact with anyone that has COVID-19 in the past 14 days (exception for those that have completed their vaccine series at least 2 weeks prior to exposure and are symptom free)

Story
Hello there! My name is Rico and I'm looking for my forever family! I have lived with a dog before and I did well, but can still show some reactivity. Sometimes I just want to go and say hello. I get anxious in the car, so I will have to learn to get use to the car and positive associations with the car. I would need someone that is patient with me when it comes to those aspects and I can be on the higher energy side. I can't contain my excitement when I'm meeting new people! I really hope to go to a loving home soon! Weight: ~40lbs Medical History: I am a healthy adult dog but it is always a good idea to set up an appointment with your own local veterinarian post adoption. Adoption Fee: $375 +taxIf you'd like to meet me, click the "Learn About the Adoption Process" button below to plan a visit to the shelter!
