Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.    *All applicants must have a vet reference and a fenced yard to be considered.* Due to no fault of his own, Toi is in a new foster home. Unfortunately for all concerned, he lost his foster daddy and his foster home due to a house fire. He has managed to worm his way into the hearts of his foster parents. He gets along with all of his foster siblings due to a very slow meet and greet. He is doing extremely well and we are so proud of him. Toi is UTD on all vaccinations at this time. He has a voracious appetite and will not miss being in the kitchen under foot while we are cooking. Toi would love to have a home of his very own where he will get all the attention he deserves. He needs a stable environment with no children in the home. Children tend to move fast and that movement scares Toi. Hello lucky lottery winner!!!  No— not really a lottery, but you will feel like you have hit the jackpot if I choose you to be my forever home.  So let’s talk about me and see if we could be a family.     My name is Toi.  I am a Min Pin/Chihuahua mix who is 12  years old.  Don’t let that age thing bother you,, I am a medium energy dog who loves walks, zoomies in the backyard with my foster sister and brother and car rides.  My favorite word is Treats!!!   I am a little bit choosey about who I do and don’t like. Foster mom says I need some more “socialization:”- whatever that means.  Hey— do you instantly like everyone you meet?  I bet you don’t.  I choose to think of myself as discerning about who I let into my inner circle!!  But just think how special you will feel when I decide that you are deserving of my trust, snuggles and love.  I didn’t get to meet a lot of people when I was growing up and it takes me a while to let my guard down with new humans. I do best when I am on a leash when new two-leggers come into the house. I can be growly, but if they leave me alone, I leave them alone. I listen to Mom when she tells me “Toi, settle down, don’t be growly, you’re fine”.     My foster home has two other dogs in it, so I have a foster brother and sister who are my best friends.  We love to run around the backyard together, wait for our treats, mealtime and jump into the big bed every morning..  My favorite place to sleep at night is on a chair covered in my blankets in the big bedroom. I need lots of blankets so I can burrow down inside of them!!     Children aren’t really my thing, so foster mom says we are looking for a home with adults only.  And my new family needs to be very experienced with dogs who need a little extra attention, time and patience. Do you know the saying, “good things come to those who wait” or  “patience is a virtue”?  Or how about— just love me for who I am, just like I will love you for who you are and together we will grow and become the best we can be.   Am I a lap dog?  No. Am I going to instantly trust you? No. Am I worth the work you will put into building a relationship with me?  You bet!! And on top of that— I am very handsome.  So maybe it’s okay that I play a little “hard to get”!   This is what I need from my new family:   A big fenced in backyard so I can run and run and run.  At least one other dog to be my bestie and to show me how to be a dog. Someone who can understand that while I love to lay right next to my human, I am not one of those silly lap dogs who wants to be held like a baby.   Maybe some day, but not right now.  Someone who loves me unconditionally and will take the time to earn my love and trust.   I do not really like men and so I need a Mom in my new home. I have gotten used to my foster Dad- but really need to have my main forever parent be a woman.   Adults who are experienced with dogs who have fear and socialization issues.   And don’t forget about toys— I need lots of toys!! Toys to carry around, toys to throw up in the air, toys to chase— you can never have too many toys!!  But mostly time, love and patience.    So let’s get those applications rolling in and I can pick out my new home!!!  I’m posting some new pics that foster mom took of me and I know they make me look irresistible!!!       Toi's adoption donation is $250.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 12, 2024, 12:06 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Update I have been in foster care now for 8 months. I do not like other dogs and if they get in my way I will fight with them. I believe I am getting older and can't tolerate blind, slow moving pups. My foster mommy thinks I will become another forever foster. I just need a quiet home, no children, no other dogs and a mommy and daddy that will love me for who I am. I have had plenty of blood work-ups and everything comes back normal. I can no longer hold my urine even though I am let out several times a day. I do sport a belly band at all times. My name is Orion. My foster mommy named me, and I already know my name. I was found by a nice lady while wandering the country roads in Winnebago County. I was taken to WCAS and put on a stray hold. No one claimed me so I was taken in under the wings of A Promise of Love Rescue. I have a bit of a smoky past that I don't like to remember. Everyone believes I've been abused physically at some point in my life...because I now have a bite history. I was quarantined for 10 full days in my foster home for biting a volunteer at WCAS just before foster momma picked me up. I also bit my foster momma when she tried to pet me, and bit my foster daddy in the face when he tried to kiss my forehead. Foster momma took me to the doggy doctor and to much of our surprise, I have a Grade 4 Heart Murmur. Since I've been on my new medicine, I am more calm and I show no signs of irritability. I get along with the other foster pups here, I'm pretty much a loner. I love my human family, sit close to them and gently take treats. I like early morning short walks and come home ready to nap and eat breakfast. My appetite is great and I never miss a meal. I am looking for a quiet home where I will be loved and have a warm bed to sleep in. No children please, they scare me and are a bit rambunctious. I need my medication daily, Enalapril. It's not expensive, only $13.00 for 2 months. This helps my heart stay strong.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 12, 2024, 12:06 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.    PUPDATE 5-20-2023 Well, well, well! It's almost a full year that I've been in foster care! I am so exuberant and full of life that I need a very active family. I love my walks so much, I could walk for days without tiring. I need a fenced in area at my new home. I do love exploring and tend to get overy anxious about what's out there for me to explore. I am current on vaccinations, my yearly check up is on June 8th, where I will be updated again and also have my blood checked for heartworms. I am on monthly heartworm tablets, and so far I'm doing great. I would love a family of my own with 12year olds or older to play with me. Children must be very respectable to animals. I tend to get jumpy when I'm excited so I would not want to hurt anyone. I am very intelligent, I mind well and I am crate trained. I will let you know when I need to use the outdoors, I have not had any accidents in a very long time. Almost 9 months. Hi every one of you looking for a very active pup! My name is Carson, I'm an owner surrender. Circumstances for surrender are due to no choice of my own. I am a very happy and loving pup. It may take me awhile to get to know you, maybe a day or two but I will be your constant companion. I love spending time outside exploring. I adore walks and being outside sniffing anything and everything. I will let you know when I need to go out to do my business,  with a bark or a whine.. We are working on my potty training and I think I have it all under control. I'm not a fan of toys, but I do like Nylabone chews. Once in awhile I will play with a squeaky toy, but not very often. I love to cuddle with other pups, but remember, I'm pretty active and I don't rest up a lot. Sometimes that can be annoying to my foster brothers and sisters as they are all seniors and sleep too much for me. I am up to date on all my vaccinations, microchipped, neutered and just had my dental. I am very healthy and have been on HW preventative and flea and tick preventative. W need to make sure I stay healthy for I have a long life ahead of me. I'm looking for a home with possible older and considerate children who will meet my needs of activity. I am crate trained and leash trained.  Could you be looking for a handsome boy like me? Just look into my eyes...one blue and one brown. Very mesmerizing if I may say so myself! I do REQUIRE a fence, for I am very inquisitive and may run after critters or I may just want to explore outside of my yard. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 12, 2024, 12:06 am

Story
Hi there, my name is Slim Jim. Or sometimes it's Bubba. Or Bubby. Or Slimbo. Or Rambo. I have a lot of names. My foster family says I have a big heart, big smarts, and big farts!  I have a big heart because I love lots of stuff, like making new human friends and CAR RIDES. Seriously I have no sense of stranger danger and will try to jump in anyone's car for a ride. I love a good chew treat and cheeseburgers. I love my blankie and sleeping all snuggled up in my crate, so will you please tuck me in every night? I love snuggles and giving kisses, but maybe bigger kids would be best for me because I REALLY get into the snuggles and don't want to accidentally knock a tiny human down. I do NOT love the cold or rainy weather, but I love dressing up in my sweaters and jackets to stay warm! I love butt scratches, tummy rubs, all kinds of adventures, and learning new things.    Speaking of learning new things, I have big smarts in this big noggin of mine! I pick up on new tricks super fast and already know how to sit, lay down, shake, wait, back (to sit in the back seat of the car), cross (the street), and turn left (I'm working on 'right'). I am great at food puzzles, and especially love my snuffle mat. I am crate trained and super polite on my leash when we're out for walks. I even know how to use agility equipment and am learning how to use a doggy treadmill. My recent record is 13 MPH!   My big farts are not so bad if I use a puzzle feeder, because then I don't eat so fast. It's this stubby, snorty nose of mine, I can't help but take in extra air.   There are a few things I don't love, mostly kitties (I want to eat them) and other dogs (they scare me). I take a cheap, daily anxiety medication (cost is under $10/mo) which helps me be more comfortable and my foster family has done a TON of training with me. They are sponsoring a private training session for whoever adopts me, to set me up for success in my new home!    Also, because I have such big smarts I take some things as a personal challenge. Crates and fences, for example. I think they are puzzles to be solved! I need a beefier crate than most dogs and a solid plan to keep me in the yard if I'm off-leash, because if that fence isn't solid like Mount Everest I am outtie! But I don't chew on or damage things in the house, don't worry about that.    I've been waiting for a home of my very own for far too long! So if you're looking for a Very Good Boy who you can have a lot of fun with, please reach out and ask for me, Slim Jim aka Bubba aka Bubby aka Slimbo aka Rambo.         Approximate DOB: 2021 Foster Home Location: Madison    If you are interested in adopting one of our wonderful dogs, you can apply on our website: https://forms.gle/MGakwmFh92UiK9iM6     Please allow several days for us to process your application. We are a small, all-volunteer group and we are doing our best to work quickly! After the application is processed we will make arrangements for you to meet the dog that interest you. All of our dogs are raised in our homes and live with us until they are adopted. They live with us as part of our families so we know them very well and we can help you find your perfect dog!     Our adoption fees:  Adults (up to 7 years): $275 Seniors (8 years and up): $200     All dogs are spayed or neutered, dewormed, vaccinated for rabies, bordatella and distemper, tested for heartworm and microchipped.April 16, 2024, 5:27 pm

Story
Meet Reed! Hello everyone, my name is Reed! You might think I look a little funny with little to no hair, but would you guess that I don't have a single hairless breed in my DNA, despite being found near a house that had been breeding hairless dogs? Yep, that just means I'm special! As an adult dog that weighs just 27 pounds, I have some very easily treatable skin issues. I just need to have a special bath every 1-2 weeks in the summer when my skin gets a bit sticky and as needed in the winter. Voila! Foster mom says I'm a really good boy, that might be a bit misunderstood by the average person, so she says I need to look for just the right one to be my forever human. You see, I'm pretty fearful of things, loud noises, and fast movements being one of them, so I shouldn't live with kiddos. I'd actually prefer to live with just one person or a very quiet two people. Men can sometimes be scary for me, so I'd prefer humans of the female variety. I get along with quiet dogs who kind of just like lounging around. I'm a good boy and go potty outside. Actually, I enjoy being outside a lot! Good thing I don't mind wearing clothes, because I'll need to wear them in the summer to protect my skin, and in the cooler month to keep me warm! I'm not a super huge fan of crates, but my foster mom has one set up for me as a safe space if people come over or if I just need a little downtime. I enjoy going on walks and do well on a leash. I really really want to do what my humans want me to do, but I tend to be scared to do some things. I'm never trying to be naughty, I just don't know how to talk human to let you know! The only way I know how to say I'm scared of something is to give a grumble. That doesn't make me a bad guy, I'm just doing the only thing I can to communicate. I That's where the special person comes in to play. My human will have to be able to see when I'm uncomfortable and intervene if I get in over my head in certain situations. I take some medicine for my anxiety to help me not be quite so scared, and that has been really helpful! I'm not asking for a lot in life, just to be understood. Do you think you can be my special person? Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Story
Meet Bert! Hey, y'all, my name is Bert, and I come to you from the great state of Georgia! Go DAWGS! I'm an adult and everything, but I could still be converted into a Badger fan. I hear their fans are really good boys, just like me. I go potty outside, I get along well with other dogs, and I like people! I'm not sure if I like cats or kids, but my foster mom says she thinks I would do just fine with everyone as long as they promise to me nice to me, especially since I'm not a very big boy, I only weigh about 10 pounds. Also, kiddos need to understand that I can't see them coming, so they might need to talk to me so I know what's going on. I love getting my belly rubbed, even if it is just a small belly. Oh, I also really love me some American cheese slices! I hear that wrapper, and I come running. Oh, who am I kidding, I love all the treats! Another thing that I kind of dig is going for a walk in a doggie stroller. Foster mom recently took me, and I did great. I never even knew they made a stroller for us canines! I enjoy saying hi to new people, and my little tail is so happy and wags so fast. At the end of the day, I will put myself to bed early, in my favorite dog bed, and happily sleep through the night. Now foster mom says it's time for me to find my forever family that will love everything about me and take care of me really good! I'm excited to see who my new people will be, and maybe we can't watch a little football together. Are you ready for game day with a new little belly to rub?
