Story
Meet Koda! We rescued him from another home, and while we were told he was good with other dogs, he is not. He is about 6yrs old, neutered and up to date on vaccines. He is an anxious boy, definitely the velcro type. He is gentle, loves pets and being groomed too. We can even brush his teeth! Does amazing on walks too. He is definitely a petite guy, with amazingly soft fur and bouncy tail that flounces when he walks. You know how sometimes you can look at a dog and you think, theres not a thought between those ears?Well, that’s because he stole all the thoughts. He’s got intelligent eyes, and if you love people watching he’s your guy! He definitely needs to be an only dog home. Due to how he acts with our dogs we do not let him near our cats, so I recommend a cat free home too. Please consider this guy, we would love to keep him, but its not fair to him or our dogs to be in an environment where they dont get along and cause stress. Please ask all the questions if youre interested!

Age/Birthdate:07/14/2016 * Weight: 83lbs* Location: * Fully Vetted: Yes Any Special Medical or Special Needs:No Temperament with: Dogs:Great Cats:Came from a home with cats Children list specific ages: All ages Strangers:Shy at first then wants all the attention Training Needs: Crate Trained:No, doesn't need to be crated Potty Trained:Yes Hi, I’m Izzy — a graceful 8-year-old Siberian Husky with a heart full of love and just the right amount of sass. I may be a “senior,” but don’t let that fool you — I’ve still got some playful zoomies in me! At about 80 pounds, I’m a sturdy, sweet girl who’s happiest lounging on a cool floor or running laps around the backyard with my foster brothers. I get along great with other dogs and came from a home with cats, so I’m pretty easygoing when it comes to furry companions. I adore kids — especially my foster’s grandkids, who are 9 and 11 — and I’m polite when meeting new people. I can be a tiny bit shy at first, but once I know you’re kind, I’m all about those snuggles and belly rubs. I’m fully potty trained and don’t need to be crated — I’m a well-mannered lady who knows commands like sit, lay down, and paw. I walk beautifully on a leash using a harness (no need for those prong collars — yuck!), and I take treats very gently. My favorites? Milkbone peanut butter bites, please! I’m not big on toys, but I do love running in circles outside and giving kisses to anyone who will let me. If you’re looking for a laid-back but still playful companion, I could be the one. I’d be just as happy in an active home as a chill one — I’ve adjusted so well and just want a forever family who will love me for the amazing girl I am. Bonus fun fact: I’ll be celebrating my 9th birthday on July 14th — maybe we can celebrate together? This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Please note that we cannot hold dogs for any reason. If the dog or puppy is not yet fully vetted, we can only consider applications from adopters within an hour's drive or 40 miles of Lemont, IL, due to required vet visits at our partner veterinarians. For fully vetted dogs or puppies, we welcome applications from out-of-state or beyond the 40-mile radius. Please only apply if you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into your home within five days of approval. Breed and Age Information: Unless the puppy was born in our care, we cannot guarantee the breed or age. Breed and age estimates are based on veterinary advice, shelter records, physical appearance, and information provided by previous owners. The adoption fee includes: Spay/neuter (performed at one of our partner veterinarians as scheduled by the rescue) Microchip Rabies vaccine DHPP vaccine Bordetella vaccine 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease) General wellness care, including deworming, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention Your adoption fee also helps support medical care for other rescue animals, including heartworm treatments, surgeries, and emergency care. Spay/Neuter Policy: We spay/neuter dogs at 16 weeks or older, at the discretion of the rescue and in consultation with our partner veterinarians. While some veterinarians recommend delaying the procedure based on a breeds projected size, as a rescue, our primary goal is to prevent unwanted litters. Spaying and neutering also provide significant health benefits, including cancer prevention and reducing behavioral issues. The American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association support pediatric spay/neuter for cats and dogs as early as 16 weeks. We carefully assess each case to determine the best timing for the procedure. Interested in Adopting? Submit an adoption application at www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt

I can be a little nervous at first, but once I feel safe, I really come out of my shell and show my fun, playful side. I love other dogs and the kids in my foster home—they're my best playmates! I’m also crate trained, potty trained, and I love playing outside. Splashing in a doggie pool? Yes, please! I haven’t met any cats yet, so I’m not sure how I feel about them. Story
Introducing Jasper, a three year old Husky that was recently surrender to our care due to the owner moving and unable to bring him along. Jasper is about forty pounds and is a bouncy boy. He is quite lively and enjoys play bowing, zooming, and his afternoon walks. He has a lot of energy (duh, of course. He`s a Husky!) and is looking for someone that can keep up with him. He has stunning Husky features like a snow white coat, fluffy curly tail, and icy blue eyes. Yes, he is stunning and an absolute catch but he is also a Husky. Huskies like to run and need to be worked with. They like to go on long walks, can play for hours, and have the sassiest attitudes on top of everything. Jasper is doing well at the shelter and is very affectionate but don`t let his looks fool you. He has all the Husky attitude and sass. Huskies can be on a whole other level at times but with discipline, exercise, and training, they can be very rewarding and great companions! His adoption fee is $220, which includes his vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and neuter. Call our office for adoption details at 815-725-0333. Located in Joliet, IL.

Story
Dama is an adorable paraplegic husky pup who is ready to find her forever home! Dama was our very first paraplegic SAYv. This gorgeous girl was rescued by an amazing family from Mexico. They saw this cute baby husky in a wooded area and couldn't leave her there to fend for herself. They got her vaccinated and ready to come to the U.S. Once here, the family searched around for a rescue to take her in... time was running out. When we saw her being shared, we were immediately drawn to Dama's story. Thankfully we had an amazing foster that agreed to step up to the challenge which allowed us to say YES. Dama has been getting the royal treatment in her current foster home. She loves her swim lessons and therapy sessions - they keep her limber and mobile. Dama came rolling into rescue like she was on fire. She is a gorgeous husky puppy girl who loves all people and animals. She is always down for a good play time and loves to tell you about her day. Dama would do best in a house with another playful dog. Even though she is in go mode a lot, she does love a good bone and chill time. Don't let her cart worry you, because she doesn't let it hold her back. She just needs her bladder expressed a few times a day to make sure it's empty. Then she's good to go! We know that having a paraplegic dog isn't the easiest thing in the world, but we promise, we will explain EVERYTHING and give you the support you need to allow this girl to fit into your family perfectly <3 Ready to adopt Dama?! Apply here: sayvanimals.org/adopt (PLEASE NOTE: Despite what Petfinder, AdoptApet and other aggregation services might state, the FIRST STEP is to fill out an adoption application via the link above, NOT send us a message through their online systems. Thank you!)
