Story
Hello, Cruz is a wonderful dog which we adopted as a 3 month old puppy due to his mom having a lot of puppies. Currently is a Husky of 2 years of age, trained to potty outside and is great with people very friendly! Does not bark nor sit on furniture. Looking for a wonderful owner that has time to be with him. Take him to dog parks and show lots of love and affection.

Story
Pringle is at our shelter. Please submit an application from our website or just come in to meet him during open hours! Scroll through his pictures to see his cute videos! Pringle is a stunning shepherd mix from southern Texas. He was found outside of Houston along with his 3 siblings and mom. All 4 pups and mom were brought to a rescue on a beautiful and rural ranch where they were raised. There are not many adopters in that part of Texas, so Pringle and his family made their way north to various rescues in the hopes of being adopted. Pringle was raised among dogs and few people except his kind and loving handlers, many of whom live on the property. He is a total sweetheart, but he is extremely shy with people at first, having not been exposed to very many early on. With dogs he has no problem- he speaks their language! The key to seeing a trusting side of Pringle is to bring him around dogs, as you can see in his videos! When you meet him, he is pretty scared - he is a dog that you will need to be patient with. The good thing is - Pringle is slowly, but surely, showing us that he can trust and bond with people. After about a month at Heartland, he has bonded closely to the staff caring for him, and he's opening up to more and more people. When he is interested in a person and feeling brave, he will slowly approach them and lick their hand. We love seeing Pringle get more and more generous with his hand kisses, even with brand new people. Pringle came to us not knowing how to walk on a leash at all, and has made amazing strides! He pairs up with other dogs on walks for confidence and company, because he really thrives with his own kind. We do feel it is essential for Pringle to have another dog companion. Pringle is going to need a patient and special person to take a chance on him, but when he bonds to you the feeling makes it so worth it! He was able to bond with us after a couple of weeks, and that is in the shelter- it is going to happen much more quickly in a home. We love him, and we know his perfect person is out there who will see what we see in him. We hope you will ask about Pringle today! Pringle’s adoption fee is $300. Pringle is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.

Story
Read what one of our volunteers had to say about Aurora on her day out! “Here is a report card for the DDO I had with Aurora last weekend. House broken: A+ Aurora had no accidents, she did not jump on or break anything, and liked to watch tv or lounge around. She seemed well house trained and ready to be in a home. Car: A- Some pacing but overall pretty good. Liked to look out the window and didn’t try to get to the front seat at all. Play: A+ Loves to play bow in excitement and get the zoomies. Fairly gentle with toys and she didn’t nip at hands at all. Walk: A+ Aurora rarely pulled on her leash at all. She did a very good job at walking past other dogs and animals. She doesn’t completely ignore them but listens well as you walk past and doesn't pull or lunge. M After long walks her paws start to get a little sensitive on the pavement, but she is completely fine to keep going while walking on grass or an unpaved trail. Run: A+ Aurora is a great runner and good at keeping a steady pace. I don’t think she has enough endurance to go for long runs yet but I certainly think she can if she builds it up. Engagement: A- She does a lot better focusing on you off leash in a home environment. On leash she doesn’t maintain as much direct attention to you but still listens fairly well even when distracted. Sleep: A Slept very well. Was a little excited getting to bed but once she found her spot she slept like a baby for 7-8 hours. Meal time: A+ Interested in human food but didn’t try to take it. She went to lay down after she realized she wasn’t getting any. Water bowl: C Fairly sloppy, but it would probably be easy to teach her to lay her mouth on a towel after drinking water. The silent husky: A++ I had her for over 24 hours and she didn’t make a single noise except for some big yawns. There is definitely a chance she gets louder the longer she is in a home, but I don’t think she is going to talk back to you and complain like most huskies. Overall Rating: Good Girl If you want a friendly husky without all the sass Aurora is the girl for you. While she certainly isn’t one to throw a tantrum if she doesn’t always get attention, she still would probably like a home that’s active and can include her on adventures.”

Story
Hi, I’m Mounds! I’ll be honest – I’m all about relaxing and getting cozy! 💤 I love to show off my “awoos” and my impressive singing skills (I’ve got a voice that can melt your heart). But when I’m not serenading you, I’m most likely flopping down for a nap – either outside, enjoying the sunshine, or snuggled up next to you inside where it’s warm. 🐾 I am not a fan of kitties and prefer to keep the home all about me, no other pets please! I’m looking for my furrever home, where I can explore and then curl up for a nice, cozy rest. I love all the snuggles and treats I can get – the more, the better! If you’re looking for a chill, affectionate companion who enjoys a good nap and some sweet tunes, I might just be the one for you!
