Story
Meet Timber..... While Timber could be mistaken for a small wolf, he’s a Husky-Shepherd Mix. A a very smart and handsome boy!! Timber enjoys playing and running; he’d prefer to run and play with a human companion rather than another dog. He LOVES people and is good with most everyone. Timber’s estimated date of birth is July 4 2021. He’s about 60 lbs. of energy! An ideal home for Timber, and one in which he’d thrive and his family would forever enjoy his companionship is one experienced with the Husky (or a similar) breed, has the time to commit to a young large-breed energetic boy, and a willingness to set boundaries and guidelines to ensure Timber evolves into a perfect family member. Timber is a quick learner and is sure to make progress toward his behavior goals pretty quickly! Timber would love a secure, fenced yard, and possibly being an only dog so he can receive ALL the attention!! Timber is fully vetted, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, neutered and microchipped. If you might be interested in adding this handsome boy to your family please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895

Story
Terra is a very sweet, cute Husky Mix, possibly Husky-Shepherd. Her estimated date of birth is July 4, 2021; at the time of this post, she is about 1 ½ years old. She weighs about 50 lbs. Terra is typical Husky through-and-through. She is active, somewhat high-strung, and loves being outside. When she is by herself, she is overall well-behaved…given she’s a younger Husky. She can get carried away and become obnoxious when engaging with other dogs. As such, she is most likely to do best being an only dog. She is not a dog-park dog. While playful and energetic, Terra is also very affectionate. She enjoys people and does pretty well when meeting people she does not know. As is the case with all young, larger dogs, Terra would greatly benefit from obedience training which can also be a bonding experience with her new family. No doubt, Terra has the potential to evolve into the perfect pup, but is looking for that family willing to commit to her and provide her the forever home she deserves. Terra is fully vetted, up to date on all vaccinations, spayed & microchipped and on year-round heartworm prevention. To learn how you can add this cute young girl to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. BAARK is located in the Chicago area and adopt our dogs only local to the area.

Story
About Me: Name: Cajun Breed (or best guess): Pomski Approximate Age: 3 months Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 15 lb Adoption Fee: $600 Requirements: Patient adopter willing to work with a shy puppy Why In Rescue: Breeder surrender Profile:  Cajun and his sisters came from a farm where they let their dogs breed.  They weren't able to find them homes so they are now in rescue getting socialized and medically ready for adoption.  They are likely to be medium sized dogs when full grown, and need exercise and enrichment to stay happy.  They haven't lived in a home, so will need work with housetraining, and figuring out what life in a home is all about.  They haven't walked on leashes yet, so a fenced yard would be helpful for housetraining.  Another dog in the home may help the pups adjust, but remember many senior dogs aren't going to appreciate the energy level and playfulness of a young puppy.  If interested in meeting one of the pups, please fill out the pre-adoption application.  They pups will be able to go home after 1/11. Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS February 27, 2024, 11:41 am

Story
Fredo is an adorable 3 month old mixed breed male pup who weighs about 15 pounds. He has an adorable fluffy tricolor coat. Fredo is a friendly boy who can't wait to have a home of his own! Fredo and his littermates were surrendered to the shelter when they were 10 weeks old, and they can't wait to have the lives they deserve in WI and not have to grow up in the shelter or risk being euthanized. He has been working hard on his potty and crate training, but his new family should be prepared to do additional training in these areas, as his routine in your home will be very different than what he is used to in a foster home in Texas. He is up to date on vaccines, dewormed and microchipped, and he comes with his medical records and interstate health certificate from a veterinary examination prior to leaving Texas, which certifies him to be in good condition.

Story
Shady is a gorgeous Alaskan Malamute, estimated to be 2-3 years old, weighing just 45 lbs (she is currently a bit underweight). Although young, Shady is calm, mild-mannered and attentive to commands. She’s very good with other dogs and loves people too. Shady walks nicely on a leash. She enjoys hanging out with her canine friends in the secure fully-fenced yard at her foster home. An ideal family for Shady is one with experience with the Alaskan Malamute breed and a full awareness of their temperament, as well as their care; regular grooming is a notable part of their care. And of course a solid vet history for past dogs is required. Shady is fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting Shady and possibly adding her to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895 to obtain an adoption application. Note that BAARK is located in Barrington and adopts only local to the NW Suburbs of Chicago.
