Story
Stan absolutely loves and seeks attention and affection. He was so excited to be outside that he was almost beside himself and continually jumped on me. He just wanted to be acknowledged. After about five minutes he settled down and his true loving nature was on display. Stan is a one year old neutered 55 pound Border Collie/Alaskan Husky mix that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/21. He is black and white with white spots and stand-up ears. He would like to go outside for walks and to play, but then come inside the home for family time! He will need some manners training to learn not to jump on you. He does sit and offers his paw (when he wants to). Stan loves life and anybody that will give him attention. He’s got a very cheerful devoted disposition! He has saved up an abundance of kisses for you! He has a strong pull on the leash. He did his business immediately when he got into the yard.

Story
Henry came to us as a young pup and was diagnosed with Megaesophagus. You can see by looking at him that it does not slow him down. The absolute only thing different between him and any other dog is that he has to eat on two feet. Everything else is normal. Eating on 4 feet is not an option for him. However, he can drink and have treats on 4. He is crate, house trained, and doggie door trained. He gets along well with all size of dogs as he has several foster siblings. He is very loving and affectionate and believe it or not is sensitive. When researching this condition, ask questions as not all cases are the same. His foster has had two different ME dogs and both are very different. He needs that special person who will look after him and make sure he stays and healthy and happy as he is now. He would love to have a playmate too.

Story
Gordy is a fluffy cookie monster, trapped in the body of a Border Collie. He doesn't know how to herd livestock or chase balls. He'd rather sit pretty for treats than run after sheep.Gordy is as handsome as they come! His right ear always stands at attention, while his left cocks to the side and a smile is stretched across his face. He loves to play tag in the yard with other dogs and tries to beat the neighboring dog to the end of the fence line. Gordy may be a little slow when feeling at ease in new situations or with new people, but once he knows you're a good person, he'll think you're the bee's knees and want to be friends!Would you like to wake up to Gordy's smile every morning? Then contact OHAR to learn more about how to meet him!History: Gordy was turned into the Mesquite Animal shelter when found as a stray. Gordy is a happy, playful guy who is eager to please. He is crate trained graduated from obedience training where he was a star pupil.Adoption Process: After your application is approved, a home visit is schedule. We will bring the pet to you and help with introductions to your current pet(s). You will then have a week with the pet to ensure they are the right fit for your home. At the end of the week, you finalize the adoption and the pet is officially part of your family! Learn more at ohar.org/adoptionprocess

Story
We rescued Finley in October of 2024.He is the sweetest dog anyone could ask for. So smart and full of energy! We’ve been struggling with rehoming him because we love him so much but sadly we’ve delayed this long enough. Our lives are really busy and we hoped that we would be able to make it work. With us traveling constantly and the increased cost of boarding him along with vet visits have left us no other choice.Finley will be a great addition to anyone’s family.

Story
we found this heeler last october loose under a car . We had him checked for a chip by a vet . Vet said no chip and was about 2-3 months old . We posted him for months on end with no luck . I contacted animal shelter we were told if we couldn't keep him to turn him loose . Well we won't do that . I have other dogs in the house that he has up until now got along with . He's now 8 months old and he's become aggressive with our male lab and our male husky but he gets along fine with our female dogs . The vet told us that his hormones are now coming in and testosterone is high so that's why he's having issues with our 2 male dogs , Both our lab and husky have always played with him and played well . This has only started in the past couple months . We never intended to take another dog but i refused to just let him go or put him in a shelter . I rescue dogs i don't dump them . But this baby needs a home where he has room to do what heelers do.He is a very sweet dog otherwise

Story
URGENT: Loving Home Needed for Two Dogs 💔Due to personal and financial hardships, I am heartbroken to say that I need to urgently rehome my two dogs. My biggest fear is them ending up in a shelter, sitting in a cage, or being euthanized. They deserve so much better than that. 🐾 Zeus – 10-year-old pit mix🐾 Kiara – 5-year-old brindle pit mix (spayed)There is NO rehoming fee — my only priority is finding them a loving, responsible home as soon as possible.
