Story
Hi, I'm Stax! I'm a 1.5-year-old Boxer mix who is sweet, fun, and full of affection. I love spending time with my people and am always ready to bring some playful energy and happy companionship to the day. I'm the kind of dog who makes it easy to fall in love with me!I do have a congenital heart condition that doesn't currently affect my day-to-day life, but it may shorten my lifespan. Surgery is an option for me, and I'd love a family who is willing to explore that possibility. That said, I'm also looking for someone who will cherish me for however much time I have, making sure my life is filled with love, fun, and all the good things a dog could ask for. If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate companion and are ready to make the most of every day together, I may be your guy! Story
Elara is just beginning to learn what it means to be a dog in a home. She has had little to no training yet, so her new family should be prepared to start with the basics — house training, leash skills, basic manners, socialization, and learning how to settle in the home. Raising a puppy takes time, patience, consistency, and plenty of supervision. During this important developmental stage, she needs people who are home at least every two hours throughout the day for potty breaks, guidance, companionship, and opportunities to learn. Puppy classes are strongly encouraged, both for training and continued socialization. As she grows, her exercise and activity needs will increase, so her family should be prepared to provide regular walks, age-appropriate exercise, mental enrichment, and ongoing training as she matures. Elara is at the very beginning of her journey, and with the right guidance, she’ll have every opportunity to grow into a wonderful adult companion. (HH) Estimated adult weight is about 40+ pounds, no guarantees.

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog H:6Ezequiel is a 10-month-old boxer weighing 65 pounds. He is a sweet, sensitive puppy who's still learning that the world can be a safe place. Everything is a little overwhelming right now, but with patience and kindness, this gentle boy has all the potential to blossom into the happy, confident companion he's meant to be. He'll thrive with experienced adopters who can let him settle in at his own pace and celebrate the little victories along the way. A quiet adult home with a confident resident dog would be a wonderful fit, helping Ezequiel build confidence and discover all the joys of being a puppy. He would do best with appropriately matched dogs or as a solo dog with dog friends outside the home.         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Oakland Animal Services (OAS) (@oaklandanimalservices)  August 19, 2026, 11:19 pm

Story
Grayson is a big, white hunk of love! He is the biggest love bug and cuddly boy you will ever meet. He is a licking machine and will try to give you kisses any chance he gets. And don’t be deceived by his size, all 73 lbs. of this affectionate boxer boy loves to cuddle and act like he’s small enough to be a lap dog. He will play ball, go for walks/hikes, jog with you, or play in the backyard. He’s also a chill boy in the house and will lay in his bed or cuddle with you in yours. He can be active outside and mellow inside, best of both worlds! He loves going on outings and gets excited to go for car rides. Grayson is the ultimate adventure buddy and is always up for anything! Grayson does get a little anxious when left alone and would prefer someone who can hangout with him most of the day and take him on fun adventures! He is very food motivated so you cannot leave him unattended in a room with food or he will find it (and eat it lol)! Grayson loves all people, including kids, and would be a great addition to any family. He can be jumpy when he gets excited, so dog savvy children would be better for him. Grayson does get along with some dogs but can be reactive with others. He is mostly reactive when on the leash but if out in a yard he is very playful and friendly with dogs. We have found that he is great with small dogs male or female! He is a very good playmate and friend to the resident small female dog that lives with him. He can be selective when it comes to bigger male dogs. Overall, Grayson could thrive in a home without other dogs, with small dogs, with dogs who are submissive, or as an only dog. If you think Grayson could be a good fit for you, please apply online to meet him. He is awaiting his forever home that will embrace his loving, goofy self!

Story
Bonnie was born around Valentine's Day of this year and is approximately 10 months old. She is a pitbull/ shepherd mix. Her parents weigh in at about 60 lbs each. Bonnie is a playful girl who is still a bit startled by loud noises. She will need a bit of time to gain trust and be the carefree, playful girl we know she's meant to be. The ideal home for Bonnie would be free from small children and cats. Bonnie was never abused or neglected, but when she left her original home, she realized that there was a big, loud, sometimes scary world out there that she had not experienced. She's had many firsts with us (car rides, trips to the vet, walking on a leash, and getting to know new canines/humans). Can you see this darling being part of your forever family?
