Story
Pudgey is not actually pudgy at all, but he is very soft and squishable, with lots of muscles underneath. This boxer/bully mix will win your heart in an instant with his goofy antics and slobbery kisses. He gets very excited to meet new friends and has lots of energy to spare. Pudgey loves going for walks and wags at everyone he sees along the way, humans and dogs alike. He likes to play and gets pretty excited and exuberant doing it, so he may not be a fit for very small kids, but everyone else will love him to pieces. Pudgey is ready for any adventure, and appears to be housetrained as well. Come meet him soon – he’d love to go home for the holidays.

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:9Gabriella is a sweet and gentle 6-year-old Boxer mix who is currently navigating the overwhelming shelter environment. She is showing signs of being under-socialized, but her beautiful spirit shines through when given the time and space to feel safe. When you first meet Gabriella, she may seem shy and unsure. But don't let her initial hesitance fool you—she truly wants to connect. Once she feels comfortable, she reveals her affectionate side, surprising you with soft kisses and sweet gestures like placing her paw gently on your chest. Gabriella is looking for a patient and understanding adopter who can give her the time she needs to decompress and build confidence. She thrives in a calm environment and would benefit from a home where she can acclimate at her own pace. While she isn't yet ready to play or engage much with toys, her love for treats is a great way to bond and build trust. Gabriella would do best with no young children in the home and may be happiest as the only dog or with a well-matched canine friend who respects her boundaries. Her ideal adopter is someone who can take things slow, watch her blossom, and provide the gentle love she deserves. If you have a quiet home and a big heart, Gabriella is ready to be your loyal companion. Are you the one to show her the love and stability she's been waiting for?  December 2, 2024, 7:00 pm

Story
Energetic, loving, and goofy 9-year-old Ella is super sweet but needs a family with an experienced dog owner. A little under 2ft tall and 40 lbs, she's sleek and muscular. Ella is fully house-trained and very patient with the three cats she lives with. She's never lived with kids but is generally chill with the children in the neighborhood.
She loves her toys, playing fetch, tug of war games, following you around the house, and of course, napping. Ella wants to be involved in whatever you're doing and is alert to someone coming to the door. She is highly food motivated, Ella picks up new tricks quickly but can be stubborn and easily distracted, so she needs lots of consistent positive reinforcement to maintain behavioral changes. She has many opinions and she will let you know about them.
Ella also plays well with other dogs, although sometimes she has issues with dogs larger than she is, but is good at de-escalating potential conflicts. Ella really loves company so if her new people are gone for a full work day she will need a canine companion. She's leash trained and always excited to jump in the car to visit the park. Ella is a great dog looking for a home where she is loved and cherished. Would you be the one for her?" Ella is now being fostered in Oakland, CA and her adoption fee is $275.00 Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Please contact us at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com for more information about this great gal or for an application to adopt.

Story
This sweet puppy is approximately 4 1/2 months old. (We think her birthday is around June 27.) We started fostering her when someone was abandoning her and her three siblings. She is extremely smart and is getting potty training down well! She loves to play with and learn from our other dogs and has befriended our male cat. Nova would really thrive in a pack. We are learning her diet needs because she seems to have potential food allergies that cause her to itch. She has met children and done excellent and is doing great with leash training, sitting, and staying. She loves the ball and other toys. Nova is an absolutely ideal, sweet natured puppy, and will be great with an individual or family who can give her love, attention, stability, and play.

Kay is a lovely girl who has been coming out of her shell and is turning into a social pup. She bonds quickly to humans and likes to stay very close. She doesn’t seem to have any issues with other dogs, and passes them calmly, as long as they don't get too close to her preferred human friend. Story
Shampers is a tender-hearted, shy girl who needs just a little time and patience to feel safe with new people. She's naturally curious, though, and with a slow, gentle approach, she’ll start checking you out in no time. Once she realizes you’re a friend, she’ll quietly start following along, often tagging behind her person on walks, as if she's trying to stay in the background while still enjoying your company. Loud noises can make Shampers anxious, but in our playroom, she’s beginning to find her confidence. When it comes to other dogs, Shampers really comes alive. Her playful side emerges when she feels safe, and she thrives in the presence of calm, confident dogs who help her feel secure and bring out her playful, carefree side. She looks to them for reassurance, and their companionship shows her that people and the world around her aren't as intimidating as they might seem. She might be hesitant to ask for attention at first, but once you start petting her, she won’t want you to stop! She’s a young dog, full of potential, and just waiting for the right person to show her that the world isn’t so scary after all. Shampers is currently in a foster home. If you're interested in her, please email KSwanson@cityofberkeley.info First, we'll set up a virtual meeting with their current foster family via phone, Zoom, or Facetime, to provide you with more detailed information. Then, if you feel that Shampers might be a good adoption fit, shelter staff will gladly coordinate an up-close and personal meet and greet with your potential family member.
