Story
Meet Maple - Our Lovely Golden Girl with a Spark!Maple is a gentle, loving older lady with a heart full of sweetness and a nose that can find a treat from a mile away! Snacks are absolutely the way to her heart - but she also has a delightful amount of pep and enthusiasm for life. This beautiful senior girl may have a calm, kind spirit, but don't let her gray hairs fool you - Maple loves to get up and go. She has plenty of energy and enjoys lively walks, exploring the world with a happy tail, and engaging with her people. After her adventures, she's equally content to settle in for cozy naps and soak up affection.Maple came to us with a mammary tumor that was removed during her stay in our care. While testing showed that it had likely already metastasized, she currently shows no signs of illness. Her expected survival could be two years or more - but even if her time may be somewhat shorter, that only makes it more important that she find her forever home soon, with someone who will cherish her golden days.Maple is a "Pawspice" adoption, meaning the East Bay SPCA will provide specific ongoing support for her care going forward. Come meet this lovely, spirited girl to learn more and see if she's the one who'll brighten your home. Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 60.2 Age: 8yrs 0mths 3wks

Story
Grayson is a big, white hunk of love! He is the biggest love bug and cuddly boy you will ever meet. He is a licking machine and will try to give you kisses any chance he gets. And don’t be deceived by his size, all 63lbs of this affectionate boxer boy loves to cuddle and act like he’s small enough to be a lap dog. He will play ball, go for walks/hikes, jog with you, or play in the backyard. He’s also a chill boy in the house and will lay in his bed or cuddle with you in yours. He can be active outside and mellow inside, best of both worlds! He loves going on outings and gets excited to go for car rides. Grayson is the ultimate adventure buddy and is always up for anything! Grayson does get a little anxious when left alone and would prefer someone who can hangout with him most of the day and take him on fun adventures! He is very food motivated so you cannot leave him unattended in a room with food or he will find it (and eat it lol)! Grayson loves all people, including kids, and would be a great addition to any family. He can be jumpy when he gets excited, so dog savvy children would be better for him. Grayson does get along with some dogs but can be reactive with others. He is mostly reactive when on the leash but if out in a yard he is very playful and friendly with dogs. We have found that he is great with small dogs male or female! He is a very good playmate and friend to the resident small female dog that lives with him. He can be selective when it comes to bigger male dogs. Overall, Grayson could thrive in a home without other dogs, with small dogs, or with dogs who are submissive. If you think Grayson could be a good fit for you, please apply online to meet him. He is awaiting his forever home that will embrace his loving, goofy self!

Story
Elsie is big and beautiful, she has gorgeous brindle stripes on bright white, she is a solid girl, but fairly grounded for a growing pup. Initially shy, that was short lived as she got paired with a couple outgoing little pups who enticed her out of her shell and into play mode! Elsie wants to please, she is fairly gentle and ready to learn. She wants love and to please you, and this is the time to provide consistency, repetition, and rewards based training, as she is a big growing girl, so best to jump on the training - we are starting, and she will excel in the right hands and with a good outlet for her moderate energy and enthusiasm for life! A lovely cuddly girl.

Story
Energetic, loving, and goofy 9-year-old Ella is super sweet but needs a family with an experienced dog owner. A little under 2ft tall and 40 lbs, she's sleek and muscular. Ella is fully house-trained and very patient with the three cats she lives with. She's never lived with kids but is generally chill with the children in the neighborhood.
She loves her toys, playing fetch, tug of war games, following you around the house, and of course, napping. Ella wants to be involved in whatever you're doing and is alert to someone coming to the door. She is highly food motivated, Ella picks up new tricks quickly but can be stubborn and easily distracted, so she needs lots of consistent positive reinforcement to maintain behavioral changes. She has many opinions and she will let you know about them.
Ella also plays well with other dogs, although sometimes she has issues with dogs larger than she is, but is good at de-escalating potential conflicts. Ella really loves company so if her new people are gone for a full work day she will need a canine companion. She's leash trained and always excited to jump in the car to visit the park. Ella is a great dog looking for a home where she is loved and cherished. Would you be the one for her?" Ella is now being fostered in Oakland, CA and her adoption fee is $275.00 Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $750 Meet Notorious RBG — better known as Ruthie — a 14-week-old Boxer pup with the heart of a hero and the snuggle skills of a seasoned pro.   Rescued from the shelter a month ago in very poor condition, Ruthie arrived malnourished and unsure of the world. With time, care, and love, she has healed beautifully in foster and revealed herself to be an absolute delight. She started out at 18 lbs and is already pushing 30!   A Love Bug Through and Through   Ruthie loves everyone, but she forms extra-strong bonds with “her people.” She is already perfecting the art of being an oversized lap dog and gives world-class hugs. She’s a full-body leaner, a snuggler of the highest order, and a dog who truly believes that being close to you is the best place on earth.   She’s also a huge fan of sunshine, warm spots, and heated blankets. Rain, cold mornings, and being asked to pee in unpleasant weather? She will make her objections very clear. She is deeply committed to staying warm and cozy.   Playful, Goofy, and Endlessly Entertaining   Ruthie is a toy enthusiast who loves fetch and will happily entertain herself by tossing toys around. She also uses the couch as her personal booty-scratching post — a skill she demonstrates daily.   When she’s feeling extra energized, she may throw in some sharp little puppy nibbles to get your attention, but she redirects beautifully to her toys. She is actually quite good at playing independently and will zoom, pounce, and chew her way through her toy pile with enthusiasm.   Crate Comfort & Company   Ruthie sleeps in a super-cozy crate right next to her foster’s bed. Comfort is very important to her. She’s fantastic in the crate when someone is nearby. She’s improving with solo crating but still tends to bark and cry when left alone; she’s getting the hang of it slowly.   Potty Training Progress   Ruthie has come so far. When she first arrived, she only wanted to pee inside or on concrete. That first week was tough. But she has worked incredibly hard and is now doing so much better. She still has occasional accidents, but she’s learning quickly. She likes to use the same spot in the yard (as long as it’s kept clean), which will make teaching her a new potty area in her adoptive home very easy.   Her Daily Routine   6:30–7:00 am: Ruthie wakes up, stretches, and does her morning puppy yoga routine. She absolutely takes her time — she is reluctant to leave a warm bed and must be bribed outside every morning. Once she pees, she races back inside and climbs into bed with her foster for another hour or two of snuggles. She is the perfect lazy sleeping-in companion.   8:30-ish: Second potty break. Then it’s PLAY TIME.   Morning: After her nap and snuggles, she’s ready to go. Ruthie does zoomies, plays fetch, tosses her toys, and entertains herself for about an hour. She mixes bursts of play with lounging and chewing on toys. She’s equally happy playing alone or interacting with her people. She would love a dog friend but does well solo too.   Daytime: She alternates between naps, chewing toys, hanging out while her humans work, and short play sessions. She loves being near her people and enjoys having a steady rhythm to her day.   5:00 pm: Dinner.   Evening: More playtime, toy adventures, and cuddles.   10:30 pm: Bedtime in her cozy crate.   Out and About   Ruthie has been on many stroller adventures (until she outgrew it!). She’s visited the farmers market, an art fair, and a thrift store. She loves being out in the world and exploring new places. She’s met many new dogs, adults, and children and genuinely liked everyone. She may give a brief moment of pretend shyness, but it fades in under a minute.   Who She Is at Heart   Ruthie is resilient, loving, hilarious, affectionate, stubborn in the cutest ways, and endlessly endearing. She’s a sunshine-seeking, blanket-burrowing snuggle buddy who brings joy wherever she goes. She’s ready for a family who will continue her training, appreciate her big personality, and give her all the comfort she craves.December 4, 2025, 11:19 am
