Energetic, loving, and goofy 9-year-old Ella is super sweet but needs a family with an experienced dog owner. A little under 2ft tall and 40 lbs, she's sleek and muscular. Ella is fully house-trained and very patient with the three cats she lives with. She's never lived with kids but is generally chill with the children in the neighborhood.   She loves her toys, playing fetch, tug of war games, following you around the house, and of course, napping. Ella wants to be involved in whatever you're doing and is alert to someone coming to the door. She is highly food motivated, Ella picks up new tricks quickly but can be stubborn and easily distracted, so she needs lots of consistent positive reinforcement to maintain behavioral changes. She has many opinions and she will let you know about them.   Ella also plays well with other dogs, although sometimes she has issues with dogs larger than she is, but is good at de-escalating potential conflicts. Ella really loves company so if her new people are gone for a full work day she will need a canine companion. She's leash trained and always excited to jump in the car to visit the park. Mocha, spayed female, 8 months old, 33 Lbs. If you would like to give MOCHA a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Mocha and her siblings were found at the suburban mountainside. The volunteer could not witness these young lives perishing in such a desolate place, so she made an effort to arrange accommodation for them at the foster home. Mocha adapted well with her new family, especially with their three young children. She interacted with them compassionately, and impressed everyone for being good behaved at such young age. She is smart, super friendly and aimed to please: she’s cuddly but also can wait by the side of her master patiently. She follows commands well and learned good sanitation habits. She’s also friendly with other dogs and cats. Mocha is such a darling everyone will fall in love with at first sight! This is Lupe, who looks more like a tiger than a wolf! She has the most beautiful markings and is a very sweet girl. She’s pretty shy of humans at first, but absolutely adores other dogs, especially males. We are not sure of her history, but she definitely has had some puppies, so may have been bred for her looks, while not getting much human attention herself. That’s about to change for the better for Lupe! When playing with other dogs, she really opens up and starts to get comfortable, not just with the dogs, but also with the human friends around. Lupe doesn’t have much experience walking on a leash yet, but she’s working on it. She’s making up for lost time, and will make a very loyal and loving companion to the special adopter who’s willing to put in the effort to help her feel safe in the world. Might that be you? Grayson is a big, white hunk of love! He is very sweet with people and very loving in general. He loves leaning into you for pets and enjoys spending time with his people. Grayson is very responsive to his handler and knows basic commands like sit, stay, come, and down. He is strong, and we are working with him on a Thunder Leash or other modes of controlled walking, but he's both food and praise motivated, which makes him a quick learner. He has a soft mouth and is gentle taking treats, and while he's active and always ready for an adventure, he isn't hyper. Grayson would love adopters with experience with Boxers who can continue to guide Grayson and provide him with the structure he needs. Zurk is about 3 years old. We rescued him after he was left on the street due to cherry eye. We were told that he was used for breeding and was abused. He had surgery for his eyes, is neutered, and microchipped. He is an amazing dog and knows many commands. Zurk is super loving and loves to cuddle and sleep! He is not much of an active dog— he will walk for about 15 minutes and then beg for you to go back home…so if you are looking for a companion to nurture, love, and be lazy with; Zurk is for you!
