Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog H:6Ezekiel is a 10-month-old boxer weighing 65 pounds. He is a sweet, sensitive puppy who's still learning that the world can be a safe place. Everything is a little overwhelming right now, but with patience and kindness, this gentle boy has all the potential to blossom into the happy, confident companion he's meant to be. He'll thrive with experienced adopters who can let him settle in at his own pace and celebrate the little victories along the way. A quiet adult home with a confident resident dog would be a wonderful fit, helping Ezekiel build confidence and discover all the joys of being a puppy. He would do best with appropriately matched dogs or as a solo dog with dog friends outside the home. September 1, 2026, 1:51 pm

Story
Grayson is a big, white hunk of love! He is the biggest love bug and cuddly boy you will ever meet. He is a licking machine and will try to give you kisses any chance he gets. And don’t be deceived by his size, all 73 lbs. of this affectionate boxer boy loves to cuddle and act like he’s small enough to be a lap dog. He will play ball, go for walks/hikes, jog with you, or play in the backyard. He’s also a chill boy in the house and will lay in his bed or cuddle with you in yours. He can be active outside and mellow inside, best of both worlds! He loves going on outings and gets excited to go for car rides. Grayson is the ultimate adventure buddy and is always up for anything! Grayson does get a little anxious when left alone and would prefer someone who can hangout with him most of the day and take him on fun adventures! He is very food motivated so you cannot leave him unattended in a room with food or he will find it (and eat it lol)! Grayson loves all people, including kids, and would be a great addition to any family. He can be jumpy when he gets excited, so dog savvy children would be better for him. Grayson does get along with some dogs but can be reactive with others. He is mostly reactive when on the leash but if out in a yard he is very playful and friendly with dogs. We have found that he is great with small dogs male or female! He is a very good playmate and friend to the resident small female dog that lives with him. He can be selective when it comes to bigger male dogs. Overall, Grayson could thrive in a home without other dogs, with small dogs, with dogs who are submissive, or as an only dog. If you think Grayson could be a good fit for you, please apply online to meet him. He is awaiting his forever home that will embrace his loving, goofy self!

Story
Gypsy has been waiting for her forever home since she was just a puppy at the Milo Foundation Sanctuary. Through it all, she has never stopped hoping that the right person will come along. Gypsy is an active, loyal girl who is happiest by your side. She would thrive with someone who enjoys hiking, running, exploring new trails, or simply spending time outdoors. If you're looking for a dedicated adventure partner and workout buddy, Gypsy is ready to join you every step of the way. Because Gypsy loves having her person all to herself, she would do best as the only dog in the home. In return, she'll give you her whole heart and become a faithful companion who wants nothing more than to share life's adventures with you. This wonderful girl has been waiting far too long for the chance to experience the love and comfort of a home of her own. Could you be the one she's been waiting for? Story
Thank you for your interest in this sweet girl. Ella has been adopted, Energetic, loving, and goofy 9-year-old Ella is super sweet but needs a family with an experienced dog owner. A little under 2ft tall and 40 lbs, she's sleek and muscular. Ella is fully house-trained and very patient with the three cats she lives with. She's never lived with kids but is generally chill with the children in the neighborhood.
She loves her toys, playing fetch, tug of war games, following you around the house, and of course, napping. Ella wants to be involved in whatever you're doing and is alert to someone coming to the door. She is highly food motivated, Ella picks up new tricks quickly but can be stubborn and easily distracted, so she needs lots of consistent positive reinforcement to maintain behavioral changes. She has many opinions and she will let you know about them.
Ella also plays well with other dogs, although sometimes she has issues with dogs larger than she is, but is good at de-escalating potential conflicts. Ella really loves company so if her new people are gone for a full work day she will need a canine companion. She's leash trained and always excited to jump in the car to visit the park. Ella is a great dog looking for a home where she is loved and cherished. Would you be the one for her?" Ella is now being fostered in Oakland, CA and her adoption fee is $275.00 Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Please contact us at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com for more information about this great gal or for an application to adopt.

Story
I am a single, female senior who for years, has rescued only female, senior dogs who have had a harsh life, in order to give them really happy years during their remaining ones.“Bella” was the name the shelter had given the 4 year old that was the oldest female I found during Covid at shelters within over 50 miles. I took her although she wasn’t old enough. She was so incredibly joyful & clowning that I renamed her Biscuit to reflect her nutty nature. I had never had an American Bulldog & the first thing I read upon researching her breed was “This is not a breed that can be left alone in the backyard.” Believe it! This breed wants to be beside you.Unfortunately, at 82 I am now recovering from a broken femur & can no longer give her the walks she needs & deserves.I always felt I was robbing her of a richer more active life with someone younger, but until now justified it by knowing she is well loved. The quality of life I can now offer her, regrettably isn’t good enough for her.

Story
Monet ~ Family Style Sweetheart Found as a stray in Richmond, CA this itty bitty girl was taken in by a Good Samaritan who noted how social she was with the neighborhood kids. She’s just delightful. She’s enjoying life in a foster home and soaking up all the attention she gets. 2-ish years old. Embark results: 100% American Pit Bull Terrier. YAY! Monet is very obedient, big on cuddling and cheerful. Warm eye contact, easy to walk, no leash grumbles or drama. She has many dog friends, including puppies and big boy Bentley. She won’t tell us why (breed prejudice?) but she doesn’t like our Husky helper dog at the Barn. Since she was fickle with him, we’re going to match her with a home that understands and respects her wishes. Please let us know if you’d like to meet her and we’ll send you an application to help us learn about your Wish List for a new friend.

Story
Freya Needs a Loving Forever Home Freya is a 15-month-old, 33-pound black-and-white Pit Bull mix looking for a loving forever home. 1. She is friendly, playful, and full of energy, but she can also relax and be calm. 2. She loves people and attention. 3. She gets along well with other dogs and animals. 4. She knows “sit, leave it, quiet, stay but you have to wave a bye, no, wait and drop it, go to bed, watch me and shake. 5. She love to use the outside pee n poop 6. She knows the time you will be back home. 7. She can stay home alone and doesn’t bark much. 8. She loves treats, toys, and playing. 9. She can be a little shy when she first meets someone, but warms up. 10. She can be a little mouthy/playful, so a home without young children would probably be best. 11. She is spayed/neutered and vaccinated for rabies. I have to travel to Africa to care for my mother and I can no longer give Freya the time and attention she needs. I am not trying to sell her. I want to find her a safe,
