Story
My name is Hulu. I am from Missouri. From her foster: Hulu (we have been calling her Lulu) is an absolute love. She loves to cuddle, snuggle and sit next to you on the couch. Her fetch skills are pretty fantastic considering she is only 6-months-old! Lulu is still working on her confidence. There are lots of new things around that she isn't so sure about, but with repeated exposures, she gets more brave. Lulu loves our resident dog (a 55-pound boxer mix) and she often initiates play. She is also starting to really like walks now that she finally takes the time to look around and sniff. She sleeps in a crate at night and actually really likes it in there! She will even go in on her own during the day to chill out. Potty training is going well too, especially now that we have figured out her routine. We are working hard on basic commands like Sit and Lay Down. She will even respond to the name Lulu. :) She is really a sweet girl! As I mentioned above, Lulu is a bit skittish about some things when she first encounters them. With repeated practice and exposure, those things get easier for her to encounter. She will require a home ready to snuggle and cuddle, but also a home with patient people, ready to do things on her timeline and when she is ready. But for that perfect home, she will be the perfect, sweetest member of the family.

Story
Hi, I'm Cola, the cutest little boxer mix you’ve ever met! I’m a sweet and outgoing 1-year-old pup. My favorite pastimes include going for walks, romping around outside, and chewing Nylabones. I love tagging along with my foster parents at the pet store, dog-friendly coffee shops, and breweries - I get to meet so many new faces!    I'm a social butterfly and I thrive on human and dog companionship. Sometimes when I’m left alone, I can be a little vocal since I want to join in on the fun. My ideal home has someone who can spend quality time with me or has a flexible schedule. I get along great with my dog and cat foster brothers and I would love a dog sibling in my forever home!  I really enjoy enrichment games that challenge my mind and reward me with treats, but I'm also content with lounging the day away. Speaking of treats, I sometimes mistake squeak toys for food, so it’s important to keep me safe by using a kennel or separating me from non-edible snacks when not under supervision.  I also take daily medications to manage my autoimmune disorder. Don’t worry, it doesn’t affect my quality of life and it doesn't cost very much, but the side effects may cause some skin irritation, so I’m always sporting my comfy (and super cute) pjs.  If you're looking for a loyal and sweet pup who will brighten your day, every day, I'm your girl!  ##1820198##

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Wondering how I’m still available?  Me too!  I might seem high maintenance being I need a fenced yard and another dog to play with in my forever home but I see it as making it easier for you.  You can just open the door and out we go to potty and play! You’ll find me to be super playful and incredibly sweet.  I enjoy cuddling with both people and dogs.  I’ve not quite gotten brave enough to check out the cat that is here.  So far the closest I’ve gotten is a sniff in the air. I’m potty trained (unless you rely on using a leash, where I’ll hold it until I’m back inside, which is why I’m asking for a fenced yard). Perhaps we can work on using a leash together as I have a tendency to pull.  But I do know some commands, such as “sit, kennel and outside.”  Speaking of which, I know how to use a kennel but I’m not a fan of one.  I also have been known to bark at strangers out the windows and when you come back home.  I don’t count the times I bark when other dogs start it.  I’m just playing along.  Here is a summary of what foster-mom says: “She's absolutely perfect. Still young and playful but loves to be a couch potato and cuddle. She loves to get super close and tuck her head into your neck. She loves other dogs but needs to take it slow with dogs who are over friendly and get in her face. She does warm up eventually though. She's eager to learn and would benefit from training, especially good recall training as she does love to run.” Do you think we would be a good fit? *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. I’m Colton, the silliest boxer boy there ever was. I live for toys and I trot around like a champion and show it off to my humans when I find a good one. I also love to go on walks with my human. We are working on not pulling on the leash and I am a quick learner but do need a reminder once in awhile. I am potty and crate trained. Story
Welcome Salem to CCPAL Rescue. Salem is a 4.5-year-old beauty. She is a Boxer/Staffordshire Terrier that weighs about 60 pounds. She is a beautiful grey and tan coat that is shiny and she is not too big of a shedding dog. She is loyal and does get along with dogs. Her preference is smaller male dogs or smaller submissive females. She was adopted as a puppy and returned at 4 years old because she didn’t get along with the other female dog in the home. She loves people and loves kids. She is potty trained, good on a leash and good in a car. She is very affectionate and slept with her family in the bed at night. She was really nice to all the people she met today at the rescue. She loved cuddles and being petted. We could adopt her locally with other dogs and we can test the dogs out. If she goes outside the state of Texas she would make a great only dog. She would be a great companion dog for someone wanting an outdoor companion on your activities and a dog willing to cuddle when you want to chill and read a book. She is the best of both worlds. She is house trained and goes potty outside. They have worked with trainers so she is skilled as far as training goes and was following direction nicely at the Rescue. She could be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get this gorgeous dog to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. She if fully vetted, healthy and ready for her forever home. She can go with children. We like them to be 8 or older. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Hi there, I'm Precious. They say that I am called this because I am the most precious dog here at God's Dogs Rescue. I came to the rescue in October of 2022 to have a safe place for me to have and raise my puppies. All my puppies were adopted by the end of January 2023, but I am still here looking for my furever home. I am a bigger girl, but this just means there is more of me to cuddle you, because I love cuddling it's one of my top 3 favorite things. 1) Food- I love food and will do almost anything you ask if you have a treat involved. 2) Cuddles- on your lap, on the couch, in the bed wherever there is a comfy space with pillows or a human I want to be there. 3) Kisses- I have a love of giving kisses to people, especially kids. Although not everyone likes it when I try to kiss them and that makes me sad. 4) Honorable mention- I like going on walks or in the car for a ride, although I prefer just lazing around at home. My current fosters say that I am a "house hippo with springs in my feet whatever that means; I just know sometimes, when I get super happy, I feel like I could fly- or jump really high. I love their kids and am very good with them even the tiny ones. I get along with most other dogs I meet, although I have a big personality about me, because I'm a boss, so sometimes other dogs don't like that about me. I tolerate cats although if they give me too much attitude or growl at me, I can't help but to give them piece of my mind. I like most new people I meet although I had a rough start in life so sometimes, I can be a little wary with men, with time though I adjust, and we can become best friends forever. A few more little details about me: I am almost 3 years old I am a Boxer/Shepherd mix I am great with kids I am good with Cats and Dogs I am crate-trained I am housebroken I can be adopted in Texas or anywhere in the US too! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

Story
Hi, my name is Coco! History: Owner Surrender From the Foster: A typical day with Coco, I am home with Coco all day, with the exception of appointments, errands, etc. After nearly 2 years in our home, Coco has settled in and become a delightful companion dog. She gets along well with, and seems to take cues from, my black lab with a calm temperament. I have modified living arrangements such that the cats are kept separate from her- she seems to have high prey drive and due to limited vision perhaps cant really tell them apart from a squirrel. I had hoped after this long hearing and smelling them, and occasionally seeing them through the gate, she would have become accustomed to them, but alas she is just not a kitty dog. I keep Coco's medication pretty consistent, aiming for 12 hours apart. Coco and Lucy (my resident dog) both sleep on my bed all night. They don't get up until I do, and are great about going right outside and then in to eat and Coco has her oral meds, eye meds, and insulin. She is a champ taking her meds, doesn't resist at all. Throughout the day, Coco and Lucy go between my office and bedroom, taking long naps (they are 9 after all). Coco loves to race outside into the fenced yard with Lucy and search for real or imagined critters. The only thing that deters her is rain! A strange sound or presence will get her raising the alarm, but she settles down quickly and back to her sniffing and taking long luxurious naps in the sun. She may alarm due to her limited vision, but no significant limitations. Coco loves to be where I am, and would rather tag along in the car than be left behind, but thanks to occasional medication and my very mellow black lab, she is feeling more secure and safe as time goes on. She does fine out of the crate in the house, does not chew on unacceptable items, and can wait several hours to go outside. She has never had an accident indoors. Coco loves a long walk, especially a leisurely sniffari. Due to a lot of training, she is not nearly as concerned about other dogs out on walks as she used to be. I try not to get too close for comfort for her, and help her feel safe and confident. SHH can set an adopter up with ongoing training, too. She is pretty stressed, though, if she cant get out of perceived threat area, so instead of dog parks or busy recreation areas, we stick with the familiar neighborhood and a quiet regional nature park. Evenings are super-relaxed. Right after eating their dinner, both pups settle in for reading, watching a movie, or going to bed early. Coco loves to lay on the couch next to a warm body. She isn't a lap dog, not a hugger, but does love to snuggle. Through the course of my veterinary care at Secondhand Hounds it was found that I have diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism, and mature cataracts. Luckily, my foster and the doctors at Secondhand Hounds and BluePearl took great care of me, and I am now ready to find my forever home! I had surgery for my cataracts, and I can see much better now. Future adopters should know that due to my multiple endocrine diseases, I will need to continue to work with a primary veterinarian, as well as an internal medicine specialist (I am currently under the care of Dr. Mazepa at BluePearl.) To manage my diabetes, my adopter will need to administer insulin everyday, as well as monitor my glucose levels with the guidance of a veterinarian. I am also on medication for my hypothyroidism. It is recommended that discuss with my future vet clinic about recommended follows ups and labwork (CBC, chemistry, UA, Fructosamine and T4).

Story
A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by my friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $200.00 will be applied during the contract process From her foster... Shamrock joined us from a local shelter after losing her person. It's possible that she might be the most popular gal in the rescue right now. Everyone who's interacted with Shamrock -- from the volunteers to the vet staff -- have instantly fallen in love. Shamrock is a very friendly older gal who adores people and never met a stranger. She is even friendly to the postman and maintenance folks that drop by the house, greeting everyone with a wagging tail. Shamrock does like to be close to her family. She follows her foster mom around the house and likes to be part of the action. She lives in a single person household now, but a previous foster stated that she has met and loved children of all ages. While on her walks, she does enjoy saying hi to the kids at the local playground and letting them pet her. Because she is an older lady with some sore spots on her body, she'd be best in a household with older, respectful, dog-savvy kids. Shamrock is a perfect lady on a leash. Her walks are her favorite thing in the world, and she would fit best into a household that enjoys walking a few miles every day. She never pulls on her leash but enjoys a brisk pace and has the cutest little trot that always gets a lot of compliments. She shows zero leash aggression and is well behaved when meeting other dogs on a leash. She does have a fenced yard in her foster home, but she prefers to get exercise by going on walks than by running around the yard. Shamrock loves to go on outings. She rides great in the car and is excited to be included in whatever you're doing. So far, she's gone hiking in the state parks, hung out in local breweries, and sometimes joins her foster mom in the car to runs errands (she is well behaved while alone in the car and loves to people watch from the window!). When she's at home, she's very chill and spends most of her time napping. She is house trained and never has any accidents. Her foster mom does not crate her overnight nor when leaving the house, since Shamrock is trustworthy and does not get into any trouble. Shamrock is very quiet and never makes a noise in the house. In the yard, she may bark 2 or 3 times at a passing dog, but she is not a frequent or heavy barker at all. While Shamrock does great meeting other dogs in neutral territory, she needs slow introductions to dogs who are coming into "her turf. She has shown some resource guarding with food/water when sharing a house with other dogs. She is the sole dog in the household right now and is thriving. She may be able to share a home with other dog(s) that are calm and passive, and her foster mom is happy to discuss more. Shamrock has shown a lot of interest in outdoor cats on walks, so it's recommended she be in a household with no cats (if potential adopter has a dog-savvy cat, this could be explored more). Since arriving at the rescue, Shamrock was diagnosed with arthritis and IBD (inflammatory bowel disease). She is on one medication each for her IBD and arthritis, and also gets a monthly shot for managing her arthritis. Potential adopters should expect to spend about $80/month on her medication and shot. She is also on a prescription dog food and a few supplements, such as fish oil, which have been giving her great benefits. Her foster mom is happy to review expected monthly expenses and Shamrock's current care plan in detail. Shamrock's adopter should be prepared to monitor her condition with a primary veterinarian. Despite having a face that looks sooo sad, Shamrock is always happy and is a pure joy to be around. She loves meeting new people, going on walks, laying near you, and being a best buddy to dogs and people alike. She will nudge your hand for pets, does elaborate dances for her meals, and rolls on her back when content. She is a wonderful companion filled with so much love and looks forward to sharing it with her forever family!

Story
Hi! My name is Bill and I am from Minnesota. From the foster: Are you a Ted looking for a Bill with whom to have a most excellent adventure?! Party on, dude! Have we got the Bill for you. Bill is a young guy who's ready for all kinds of action. Looking for a hiking partner? Take Bill! Need to do some yard work? Bill will aerate your lawn with daily zoomies! Watching Netflix after a long day? Bill will be your snuggly couch buddy! Unlike his movie counterparts, Bill's not about to flunk out of any classes; he's extremely food motivated and easy to train, and he takes treats gently. He's housebroken and will quickly figure out the bathroom routine at your house (for a treat). He'll give back those socks you left on the floor (for a treat). He'll sit, and lay down, and shake paws (for a treat). With Bill, treats are currency -- and if you run out of treats, affection will do in a pinch. He's a friendly pup who craves all the love and attention you have to spare. And with a noggin like his, Bill's got plenty of real estate for maximum head pats, which he will gladly accept from anyone. The most important rule of an excellent adventure is to be excellent to each other - and when he's set up for success with plenty of space and structure, Bill will be a wonderful addition to your family. He can live in a multi-dog household that is committed to facilitating slow introductions at his pace and willing to give him lots of decompression time and gentle supervision while he perfects his impulse control. Bill's future canine sibling(s) should be easy-going and well-adjusted. He plays rough and rowdy (maybe he was a pro wrestler in a past life) and any other dogs in the household should be able to match that energy, or at least tolerate it. The introduction to his foster's resident dog took several weeks, but now the two rough house together and enjoy tandem walks, and Bill is fully integrated into his foster's lives. Bill doesn't require another canine companion, to be clear - he'd also be a great only pet! (For sure no cats. His fosters have tested that one out for you already.) When it comes to human roommates, older kids only for Bill...he can be a little jumpy and might knock a very small child down in his excitement. Originally picked up by Animal Control as a stray, Bill's life may not always have been an excellent adventure, and he has a few scars on his face to prove it. To overcome the adversity of his unknown history, Bill asks for patience and understanding from his new family. He is skittish about very loud noises and needs a safe, quiet place to retreat when he feels uncomfortable. He must be allowed to eat his meals separate from any other resident dogs. For a medium-sized guy, he pulls surprisingly hard on walks and will benefit from consistent and dedicated leash training. He is very alert to other dogs he sees in the neighborhood but has been receptive to desensitization methods (namely, he's showered with treats when he sees other dogs). Despite a few quirks, Bill has plenty of other tubular traits: he's fully crate trained and non-destructive when given free reign of his foster's first floor while they're at work - although he is still a puppy and has been known to target the usual, tempting suspects in his foster's house (socks, underwear, phone charging chords, etc.). If he grabs something he shouldn't have, he'll readily give it up in exchange for a treat or a toy. He does not display any separation anxiety when left alone during the day. He's active but will also spend hours snoozing on a dog bed. He plays with toys to keep himself entertained. He rides wonderfully in the car. He's eager to please and adorably goofy. Sometimes he barks (especially when he hears the neighborhood dogs), but most often he'll cough or snort or sneeze at unexpected sounds. He'll be absolutely pumped to see you every day when you walk through the door. Bill's just a good dude who's adored by his fosters and has all the most stellar years ahead of him. For Bill, the best place to be is your home, and the best time to be with you is now.
