Nino is a friendly, loving 1 yo boxer mix. He is fully house-trained and can use a dog door. He knows how to sit and takes treats extremely politely. He loves approaching you for attention and often sits/sleeps nearby or against you. He gets along very well with other dogs and is simply curious about cats. He has done well in a crate. He rarely makes any noise, saving it for when other companion dogs start barking. He does well in the car and on walks (no leash pulling at all). He would be a great addition to any home. Story

Meet Dutch, a stocky little hippo in dog form who is 100% convinced she was put on this earth to see ALL THE THINGS—and preferably as quickly as possible! This confident, enthusiastic girl walked into foster care like she owned the place and hasn’t looked back. She’s friendly, wiggly, loves everyone, and has never met a lap she didn’t want to climb into. Dutch is smart, strong, and FULL of personality. She’s potty trained, knows “sit” and “kennel,” takes treats politely, rides beautifully in the car, and can happily hang out in her kennel with a good chew while you’re away. She’s also been doing great in a home with several lower-energy dogs, although she’d love a canine buddy who can safely match her enthusiasm. Because she can be a little too enthusiastic about chasing smaller dogs, a home without small dogs is recommended for now. Dutch is also an enthusiastic alarm barker. When she sees something exciting—or someone she thinks might be a potential new best friend—she can make sure the entire neighborhood knows about it! Her big bark and excited wiggles might look intimidating to someone who doesn’t know dogs, but underneath it all, she’s usually just saying, “HI! ARE WE FRIENDS YET?!” She does settle quickly with direction, though. While at work with her foster, she was able to sit quietly and behave while her foster talked with a customer and was completely relaxed again in no time. Because of her vocal enthusiasm, a home without shared walls would likely be the best fit. This girl has energy to spare! Walks are still a work in progress—when Dutch gets going, that little tank can pull! She’ll need a family who enjoys training and wants to give her plenty of physical and mental outlets. Adventures, hikes, learning new skills, and maybe even some appropriate pulling activities could be right up her alley. Dutch is working on her manners, especially keeping all four feet on the floor. She adores her people and is absolutely convinced that personal space is optional. She’s been wonderful with her foster’s 8-year-old, but because she doesn’t quite realize how solid she is, a home with older kids is recommended. And then there’s her face. Those wrinkles, those expressions, and the occasional lip stuck on her teeth will keep you laughing. 😂 Dutch may be built like a tank, but underneath all that muscle is a very sweet girl who is simply thrilled to be out of the impound and back in a home. Dutch is looking for a confident, committed human who will give her clear boundaries, continued training, and plenty of opportunities to put her big personality and endless enthusiasm to work. She’s a sponge ready to learn—and she’s going to make one lucky family smile every single day!

Story

Welcome Honey to CCPAL foster Program. Honey is a 3 year old Boxer mixed dog. She is potty trained. We think Honey survived the flood in Kerrville. A good samaritan has taken her in and is giving her good nutrition and love until we find her forever home. She was really scratched up and had a wound on her front left leg. She will be spayed soon and she is going to the vet again for a follow up on her leg. Our guess is it may have gotten broken and healed back on it’s own due to what she has gone through. She is good on a leash, very loving and bonds deeply. She lives with 5 cats right now but she is much too interested and we feel her best home would be without cats. She loves all people and no one is a stranger. She is good with dogs her size and is an energetic girl. Her best home would be with an active and ourdoorsy family that wants a great companion to join them in their outdoor fun. She is looking wonderful and filling out nicely in her new foster home. She lost some muscle around her bum area due to the length of time she was without food. Despite this, she would make an amazing family pet. She would love to be the only dog and be the center of her families attention. She weighs about 40 pounds and is a taller dog but medium weight. She is great in a car and would make a great dog in settings where lots of people are around. She is lower in shedding. She will be getting spayed soon and ready for her forever home. She is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story

Meet Finn! Finn is a sweet, smart, and cuddly boy who is ready to find his forever home! He loves spending time outdoors just as much as he enjoys snuggling up on the couch or in bed with his favorite people. He is a quick learner who enjoys training and has already been working on commands, including sitting politely at doorways. Finn loves other dogs and makes friends quickly! He can be a little shy and timid when meeting someone new, but he warms up fairly quickly once he feels comfortable. He can be nervous when startled or overwhelmed, so he will appreciate a patient home that helps him build confidence at his own pace. Finn is a bit of a chatterbox, so a home without shared walls would be best for him. He also loves being close to his people and will happily stick by your side throughout the day, making sure you never feel short on companionship! He enjoys going for walks and can get excited when he spots people or other animals. He may pull when he gets excited, but he does well with a Gentle Leader to help keep walks manageable. Above all, Finn is a genuinely loving boy with the sweetest brown eyes. He may not be much of a kisser, but he will happily sniff you to his heart's content! If you're looking for a loyal companion who will join you on outdoor adventures and then curl up beside you for some cozy cuddle time, Finn might just be your perfect match!

Story

Kai is a 7-year-old dog we adopted from Ashland, and we love him dearly. Deciding to rehome him has been one of the hardest choices our family has made- he has a very loving personality and is a big softie. Kai is great with kids, cats and dogs and loves to play. But he has some some anxiety, and big emotions or chaos (such as with our young children) cause it to flare. All he really wants in life is time outside and someone to snuggle with. He’s house-trained apart from his very intermittent diarrhea episodes (we think anxiety-linked), isn’t crate-trained, and does fine on his own for a full workday hours (though he gets mopey being left alone for that long). Aside from a calmer household, a fenced-in yard he can easily be let out into would be ideal (neither of which we can currently provide). We’re hoping to find him a patient home where he can settle in and feel safe. Happy to pass along food, halter/leash, and other "gear" upon adoption.
