For years I lived with human kids and my younger dog sister who looks almost exactly like me. Recently my dog sister and I met another human family - actually, a big group of humans acting like family - when my original human family had some trouble and needed my dog sis and me to stay with someone else for a while. We met our new human family and their two dog siblings - we immediately starting having fun together. Things changed, my dog sister went back with our original family. I'm OK though - I have my new family and new dog friends. You’ll find me to be super playful and incredibly sweet.  I enjoy cuddling with both people and dogs.  I’ve not quite gotten brave enough to check out the cat that is here.  So far the closest I’ve gotten is a sniff in the air. I’m potty trained (unless you rely on using a leash, where I’ll hold it until I’m back inside, which is why I’m asking for a fenced yard). Perhaps we can work on using a leash together as I have a tendency to pull.  But I do know some commands, such as “sit, kennel and outside.”  Speaking of which, I know how to use a kennel but I’m not a fan of one.  I also have been known to bark at strangers out the windows and when you come back home.  I don’t count the times I bark when other dogs start it.  I’m just playing along.  Here is a summary of what foster-mom says: “She's absolutely perfect. Welcome Salem to CCPAL Rescue. Salem is a 4.5-year-old beauty. She is a Boxer/Staffordshire Terrier that weighs about 60 pounds. She is a beautiful grey and tan coat that is shiny and she is not too big of a shedding dog. She is loyal and does get along with dogs. Her preference is smaller male dogs or smaller submissive females. She was adopted as a puppy and returned at 4 years old because she didn’t get along with the other female dog in the home. She loves people and loves kids. She is potty trained, good on a leash and good in a car. She is very affectionate and slept with her family in the bed at night. She was really nice to all the people she met today at the rescue. She loved cuddles and being petted. We could adopt her locally with other dogs and we can test the dogs out. If she goes outside the state of Texas she would make a great only dog. She would be a great companion dog for someone wanting an outdoor companion on your activities and a dog willing to cuddle when you want to chill and read a book. She is the best of both worlds. She is house trained and goes potty outside. They have worked with trainers so she is skilled as far as training goes and was following direction nicely at the Rescue. She could be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get this gorgeous dog to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. She if fully vetted, healthy and ready for her forever home. She can go with children. We like them to be 8 or older. I'm all about being where the action is and soaking up every moment with my favorite humans. At home, I'm the perfect companion. I'll follow you from room to room, just happy to be by your side. I'm not one to beg during dinner or cause a ruckus—I'm content to lie down and enjoy the company. But don't let my chill demeanor fool you—I'm always up for some outdoor fun! Throw me a ball, and I'll bound after it with all the enthusiasm of a puppy, even if I'm not the best at bringing it back – hee hee! My life before Underdog is a little unknown, and I can't see to remember it since coming to this gret place! I came to Underdog with some lumps and bumps. We went to the vet and had those removed, but they did come back as Mast Cell Sarcoma's. The vet removed them all, got good margins, and it shouldn't be a problem in my future, but any new lumps would need to be looked at by a vet and have those removed. Meeting new people is one of my favorite things, and I'm not shy about offering kisses and cuddles to anyone who'll take them. Car rides are another highlight of my day—I'll hop right in and settle down for the journey ahead. I am fine to rest in my crate when you are away. We (well ... me) have almost mastered potty training. I do great on a schedule and will go potty on a leash if you don't have a fenced yard. Also, I don't need a fenced yard in my forever home, but if you have one for when I get the goofy zoomies, I would enjoy it.  Out and about, I'm a model citizen. I'll happily sit by your side as we watch the world go by, never pulling on the leash or causing a fuss. And when it comes to other animals, I'm as respectful as they come—I get along great with cats and dogs alike. One of my favorite pastimes? Snuggling up for a snooze. Greetings, dear friends! I'm Groot, and in the loving embrace of my foster family, they've dubbed me "the best boy." At 55 lbs, I'm a delightful blend of love and dashing good looks, wrapped up in a pit bull package.
