Story
Petey is a 30-lb Border Collie mix—or a small dog with a big personality! At 2-years-old, he's a sassy younger sibling to his foster brother Max, always riling Max up in a hilarious way. Petey loves to taunt his brother with his hilariously cute "tough guy" growl when they play, making sure Max knows it's out of love, so they can end up in a classic cuddle puddle. Petey is house-trained and always eager to please. He lets you know when it’s time to go outside and is full of energy and fun. He is crate-trained, but does not enjoy being in the kennel alone. While he’s still learning some manners, he’s as sweet and good-natured as they come.Petey gets along wonderfully with other dogs and absolutely loves having a canine buddy to play and wrestle with—his foster brother has been a huge help in bringing out his confidence and playful side. He gets excited when seeing other dogs on walks, always ready to make a new friend. He’s also good with kids, but since he can be a jumper when he’s excited, a proper introduction is recommended first. Petey cannot live with cats.Petey’s favorite things in life are walks, playing fetch, and wrestling with his dog friends. Squeaky toys and plushies get destroyed with him! He’s happiest when he’s active, so Petey will thrive in a home with a fenced yard or a family committed to giving him plenty of daily exercise in other ways. Here is a video to learn more: https://www.flexclip.com/share/3552797CvG1geascrHzFxBexFQ9dzcnP6sQM9V3.htmlIf you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Meet Finn, the sweetest boy with the brightest smile! Finn is a friendly, playful Border Collie who’s ready to bring joy and energy into his forever home. He’s fantastic with other dogs and would love a canine buddy to romp around with—but he’s just as happy being your one-and-only adventure pal. This smart guy is fully housetrained, eager to please, and quick to settle in once he knows he’s safe. Finn adores walks, follows along beautifully, and lights up when it’s time to play with toys—tug, fetch, squeaky toys… he’s not picky, he loves them all. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a sweet heart and a happy-go-lucky spirit, Finn is your dog. He’s ready to explore the world with you, snuggle after a good play session, and become the best friend you’ve been hoping for. Finn recently met a couple of cats and did really well. Snapshot of Gordy: Size? Medium-Large (48 lbs) Activity Level? High -he is a border collie mix, after all! ;) Noise Level? Low Good with Dogs? Yes Good with Cats? Yes Good with Kids? Likely, but no children in foster home. Good with Strangers? Yes Potty Trained? Yes, with appropriate supervision and a schedule. Crate Trained? Yes Shedding? Medium About Gordy: Hi, my name is Gordy! I also respond to Gordo, Gordito, Sir Gordon, and Cheesy Gordita Crunch. I am an adorable border collie/lab mix who wants nothing more than a home to call my own--and, preferably, a ball to call my own as well. I LOVE to chase balls, and if no balls are around, I'll make do with chasing anything you throw for me--stuffies, sticks, ropes... the options are endless. My foster mom says that I'm amazingly well adjusted given my relatively rough history. I was 1 of 16 (!!) dogs rescued from a local home, and I haven't had the best care before now. For example, you might notice that I have a bit of a limp due to a wonky front foot. The vet says that this is likely caused by a ruptured tendon that didn't heal right. Fortunately, it doesn't slow me down at all! I also recently had 8 front teeth removed, including 3 of my canines, which were all fractured, likely from biting at the bars of a crate. Still, nothing can bring down my happy-go-lucky personality (except, of course, when my foster mom puts away my ball for the night). Something else you should know about me is that I tested positive for two tick-borne diseases, Anaplasmosis and Lyme. I received treatment and I don’t have any signs of chronic Lyme infection - which is AMAZING news! I will likely continue to test positive for both of these for the rest of my life due to chronic antibodies. It is possible that I could develop side effects from Lyme later in my life but for now I’m a happy and healthy boy! Here's a bit more from my foster mom: An ideal home for Gordy would be one that can give him lots of mental and physical stimulation. He really enjoys chewing on bones and bully sticks, playing tug with toys, and playing fetch. He's also a smart boy and has picked up on sit, lay down, and crate up very quickly. We're working on some new commands for him to show off! I think he'd do great with someone who enjoys having a dog that can be a companion to them on a variety of adventures! Gordy is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age. Adoption Fee: $550 + applicable tax MEET ME/ADOPT ME: If you'd like to arrange a meeting or begin the adoption process, please fill out an adoption application by visiting https://www.twincitiespetrescue.org/adopt/ or clicking "adopt me! Meet Nymera! 🐺 Her name, Nymera, means “noble” — a fitting name for such a strong and graceful soul. (It’s pronounced nih-MEER-ee-uh.) This gorgeous girl was found stray near the border of Mexico, and the moment her rescuer opened the car door, she hopped right in as if she knew her new life was about to begin. Nymera is about 1 year old, weighs 30 pounds, and is a Border Collie mix with a heart as big as her smile. She’s affectionate, intelligent, and social — she loves everyone she meets and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She has that classic Border Collie sparkle — alert, eager to please, and full of gentle energy — but what makes her truly special is her sweet, trusting nature after all she’s been through. ✨ Nymera is ready to lead her own happily-ever-after — could it be with you?

Meet Cici! 💛 This beautiful girl has already been through far more than any dog should. When her former owner was seen kicking her, some kind strangers stepped in to save her. They cared for her the best they could, but after being evicted, they reached out for help—and that’s how sweet Cici landed with us. After everything she’s been through, Cici can be a little unsure at first, but she doesn’t have a single mean bone in her body. Once she realizes you’re safe, she melts into the sweetest, most loving companion. She truly blossoms with kindness and gentle reassurance. Cici is about 2 years old, weighs 25 pounds, and looks like a darling border collie/terrier mix. She’s ready for a home where she’ll finally know what it feels like to be cherished. If you’re looking for a gentle soul who just wants to love and be loved, Cici is waiting for you.

This girl was found wondering around a business and was brought to us. She is friendly, happy but will be a good size dog when grown. Story
GUST AND HIS BEST FRIENDS PLAN TO BE AT A MEET AND GREET SUNDAY DECEMBER 7 12:30 -2:30 AT PET EVOLUTION ON 1074 GRAND IN ST. PAUL. COME AND CUDDLE AND MAYBE GO HOME WITH A FRIEND FOR THE HOLIDAYS. Gust and his siblings were surrendered to PUP because the owner, who lived in a remote area, could not afford the pups and felt she could not find suitable adopters. The mommy dog is a much loved 30# ‘low rider’ with short legs (pictured). A partner organization agreed to pay for her to be spayed if PUP found homes for the puppies. The owner did a good job of socializing the pups and they arrived in good health. They are well socialized, playful and are enjoying the good life. Gust looks like he is going to be a bit taller than some of his siblings and we expect he will be a mid-sized dog when he is full grown. We did DNA testing on Gust but the results won’t be in until mid December. Dogs from the area who have DNA testing often have 20 or more breeds and nearly always have some shepherd, husky, cattle dog, and even the largest pooches have a bit of Chihuahua. We strongly suspect Gust has some Doxi and maybe some cattle dog in this mix. (Rumor has it that there is a male cattle dog on a neighboring ranch.) The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Puppy has been vet checked, (he weighed 7.6# on 12-1) vaccinated and de-wormed. He will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. His required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that he be altered at 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested.

BLITZEN AND HER BEST FRIENDS PLAN TO BE AT A MEET AND GREET SUNDAY DECEMBER 7 12:30 -2:30 AT PET EVOLUTION ON 1074 GRAND IN ST. PAUL. COME AND CUDDLE AND MAYBE GO HOME WITH A FRIEND FOR LIFE. Blitzen and her siblings were born in an abandoned trailer in a very remote rural area. The trailer was strewn with trash and debris, the floor was mostly rotted out and it seemed ready to collapse at any minute. Someone noticed a nursing mom ‘hunting’ (pictured) for food and followed her to the trailer and discovered the puppies. Mom was essentially feral and could not be caught. The pups were about 7 weeks old so the Good Samaritan contacted a PUP volunteer who spent hours carefully finding and catching the puppies. Initially they were very fearful but soon decided a warm bed and a full food bowl were pretty nice. They adapted well to their foster home and people, now loving playing, cuddling with their foster mom and friends. We did DNA testing on one little boy from the litter, but the results won’t be in until mid December. Dogs from the area who have DNA testing often have 20 or more breeds and nearly always have some shepherd, husky, cattle dog, and even the largest pooches have a bit of Chihuahua. We strongly suspect Blitzen has some shepherd in the genetic mix. It is best guess because we don’t have a clue who daddy is and are only guessing at birth date, but we believe that puppy will be in the upper end of mid-size when full grown. She weighed 8.4# at her vet appointment on 12-3. The vet believes pup is 8-9 weeks old now. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards.
