Story
Bailey is one Chill Dude! He is a big Velcro Dog. He pretty much just wants to sleep most of the day, as long as he knows where you are but loves a nice long walk too. He is great on leash, no pulling or reactivity. He is the epitome of a gentle giant. He loves his foster's Cal King bed. She said she probably should not have let him get on it BUT the lure of having a huge snuggle bunny in bed at night, was just too tempting. Now he is in heaven and rarely leaves the bed. Bailey came from the Stockton Shelter, he had a large mass on his spleen, and an enlarged prostate with 2 very large testicles swinging around. We were able to raise $5,000 to get all of his medical done - splenectomy, neuter and ears cleaned and treated) and now he is just perfect. Tumor was benign so he is ready to be your life size snuggle bunny, if you are ready. We have noticed slight resource guarding with human food (reason he should not be in the kitchen) and high value treats but it is not very bad and we are working on it using "trade up" or not allowing him to have items he feels he needs to guard. As far as other dogs, he really does not care about them. Same with cats, just sorta looks at them and then goes about his business. BUT, that does not mean there is no prey drive. We will be testing him. As far as children go, we have not had him around any of those yet, but will. I suspect he treats them just like everything else, checks it out and then moves on his way. He does have a special need. We are pretty sure he is deaf. While he was under for his operation they cleaned out his ears and treated them but he still does not really hear much. Might be why he is so chill. We will have the ears looked at next to see if there is anything more needed for him. He is ready for new foster home or adoption. We are willing to do a Foster to Adopt or just a foster if you are interested. We need him to get more interaction with other stimuli, the home he is in now is very quiet. Story
Say hello to Chloe! Chloe came to us after being removed from a bad situation. Since then, she' been spayed, vaccinated, micro-chipped and is living large indoors and luvin it!! She adores all things soft - soft blankets, soft beds, soft laps. Since joining our foster's home back in May, Chloe has learned so many new things. She has learned that riding in a car isn't so bad if there's something good at the destination! She is completely crate-trained and house trained, and has learned to walk on a leash and go for adventures. She even went on a camping trip and was such a great camp dog, hanging out with her peeps in camp.Chloe loves to sunbathe and get belly rubs. She loves to cuddle on the couch and sleep in bed with her favorite humans. She enjoys meeting new people. During our last adoption event, she surprised everyone by how confident she was. She just wanted to meet all the people! Chloe is affectionate and gentle. She is patient and kind. She is curious and goofy. We feel that she would do well with well-mannered children, and she might even be okay with a canine companion. We have opened her world to so many new things, and she has taken everything in stride, confidently clearing all hurdles! She is ready to spread her wings in her new life with her forever family! Story
Meet Mallory! Mallory is the dog version of a sprite. She is always happy and excited about life! She will self pacify with her toys, she goes out on a skateboard run daily for 45 minutes (pulls the rider, foster's neighbor) and is very athletic. Mallory's play style is rough, so not all dogs appreciate her energy, but she does very well with like minded dogs. She is fine spending the day at home, excited to see you when you get home and just wants to sit on your lap (she does need to learn about personal space) and watch tv in the evenings. She is high energy when needed but is happy as long as she is with her person. Mallory is a Stanislaus Shelter Survivor. We made contact with her original owners and know a lot about her background. She was an adorable puppy. You can see the love in her eyes. Interested in meeting Mallory? Story
Meet Ralphie! Ralphie is about 2 years old. He is a happy boy who is full of energy! Ralphie is already crate trained. He is also potty trained in his current home, but as with any dog, he will need gentle guidance on the learning the appropriate place to potty in his new home. Ralphie seems to enjoy the company of other dogs of all sizes. He loves playing with other dogs and toys in his foster home. Ralphie knows how to sit when asked and is very food motivated, which will help make his continued training so much easier! Ralphie will be best suited to a home with older children, and prefers a feline-free home. Interested in meeting Ralphie? Story
Noah needs a hero. A quiet home with a patient guardian. Noah is a save from Bradshaw! His only issue was his stranger danger with men. He loves other dogs and toys/play. He is about 1.5 years old (a/o May 2013). Noah had severe stranger danger and mostly to men. Clearly he has suffered at the hands of a man. Noah is very smart and high energy. He loves to play fetch, chase toys and hang from his tree toys. He has made tremendous progress with his current foster and loves his dad. He uses play to build trust. So playing with him is the first step. Once he trusts you, you are in. He is the highest jumper we have ever seen but he has not tried to escape. If he is to be kenneled at any point it should be a covered kennel or he needs to be supervised. But he has never escaped to date. Or really tried to, that we've noticed. Noah loves other dogs. That is his strongest and best trait. He can be in any situation, even a pack of dogs ( play group) and he excels. He loves to play. Play is his love language. Because of Noah's stranger danger he has not been exposed to children. So he does have special needs. As until he really trusts you , he should not be introduced to new people. Once that bond is built he will learn to trust, the progress should be consistent and slow. We can share ways to introduce Noah to new people. But it is stressful for him. Especially if they are men. So a quiet, not too busy with traffic home, would be best. The perfect home for Noah would be one with a large yard, where he can run. He was on a farm with horses, donkeys, llamas and he was curious but pretty indifferent. The fences need to be fairly high and if there are some trees to hang some toys from , he will keep himself busy for days. Lots of ball play. He does not need to go anywhere. He can be a home dog. He will need slow introductions to people and always done the same way so he knows what to expect or just put him in his crate when you have company. He is crate trained and if he has some toys he will just hang out. He deserves a home of his own. He has been in boarding , where he learned to trust strangers, but is now in a foster home and we have learned so much about him. He loves the people he trusts. He is a special case and honestly is what rescue is about. A special dog that is worked with so he gets a second chance. Take a chance on this boy. Noah needs a hero. He is not the easiest dog but he is worth the effort. Interested in meeting Noah? Story
Meet Dutton! Sweet Dutton is looking for his forever home! He was pulled from the Stockton Shelter at approximately 4 months old after being found running stray with another puppy, and had a bit of a rough start after developing a vaccine reaction that resulted in temporary distemper symptoms. Luckily with time and care he recovered quickly, and has been fairly healthy ever since! Dutton loves his people. He lives with dogs his size of both sexes; when introduced properly he can be playful and he loves his canine foster siblings. Cats and small dogs are not a fit. Dutton is listed as 'Special Needs' due to allergies and anxiety. After all he's been through he's an extra sensitive soul, and is beginning a behavioral training course with a reputable trainer based out of the Sacramento area to work through those anxious tendencies and help him learn to feel safe and secure in new situations. He would do best with a foster or adopter who worked from home (or spends time at home frequently) as he is a bit of a velcro dog. The ideal foster or adopter for Dutton will be willing to participate in training with him - the costs of this upcoming course have been covered by the rescue and are included in his adoption fee. Allergy-wise, Dutton had a full allergen panel completed after experiencing a skin reaction, and is now known to be sensitive to peanuts, soy/legumes, and tumbleweeds (of all things!). He is currently undergoing an immunotherapy treatment to alleviate his reactions to these allergens, which we hope will lessen the need for regular allergy medications in the future.
