Story
***At this time we are ONLY doing adoptions within the immediate Sacramento area. Please fill out an adoption application on our website.*** My name is LOLA, aka LalalalaLola, Lolita Mamacita, Lowes, Lolo. (My humans love nicknames.) I answer to all of them, especially if there's food or a rubdown involved. My humans called me Lola because I am low to the ground. I think I'm just aerodynamic. HOW OLD ARE YOU? I’m 9 years old! I came to my humans with four itty bitty puppies, which I cared for and played with, until they got their new homes. I am proud to say I raised beautiful, if rambunctious, pups! My perfect day is: get up; stretch in my crate; eat breakfast; go outside and potty; sunbathe in the backyard (I know all the best places to go as the sun moves); hangout and watch TV with my humans for awhile (especially Animal Planet, I sleep if the news is on); hang out in my crate until the big guy gets home; go for a walk; eat dinner; go potty and watch some TV before bed. I am learning good manners. I know sit, down, leave it and off. I obey about 80% of the time. I also know to wait for my food and to wait to be invited in the house or out the gate. I am a work in progress. With consistency I'm a fast learner and love to make my humans happy. I love to fetch exactly 2.5 times, with great enthusiasm. My favorite toy is...I'm not sure. I eat them before I grow to like them. But a frozen cow bone section keeps me happy for months. I love humans of all shapes and sizes. Cuddling is my favorite game. My humans say I can't hold my licker, but I think they secretly love it. It's really hard to keep all my love inside. I gotta let it fly! I prefer to be the only dog in the house. I really like watching them on TV, but don't see the need to share my home with them. With all this love, why would you want more than me? I have a very waggy tail, a happy-go-lucky disposition, and am about 9 years old. Give me a home and I'll give you all my love and my very best efforts to melt your heart! Lola should be the only pet in the house. She prefers to be able to only have to share her love with her humans. 💗💗💗 The adoption fee for Lola is $300 Interested in meeting this dog or another one of our available dogs? Simply complete and submit our adoption application on our website www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org (FROM YOUR HOME COMPUTER, not cell phones, yet! We’re working on that!!) and we will respond to you within 3-5 days. Once a yard check is completed and you’ve passed the adoption process, you’re welcome to meet any of our dogs!!! NorCal Bully Breed Rescue (NBBR) is a foster based rescue with foster homes spread throughout the Sacramento area. We require our adopters to be within a 50 mile radius of us. This is because we need to do a physical yard check to guarantee that the potential adopter's yard is secure, and also have them be close enough should any behavioral issues arise, and the assistance of our trainer is needed. (*FaceTime or Skype are NOT acceptable methods of communication regarding yard checks.) We HAVE made exceptions for dogs that have been with us long term, and for senior dogs. We would still need to perform a yard check, and would be happy to do so for a dog that has been passed over repeatedly, but not for dogs that are in high demand. It would need to be to a neighboring state to California. NOT across the country. That would be too much. (*We will NOT be making this exception for puppies or designer breed dogs, so please don’t ask. It’s way too much for us to have to request time off of work and lose pay to drive a dog out of area when we have plenty of great homes in our area wanting to adopt these dogs.) We try our best to match our dogs to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular dog. Our adoption fees are based on the dog and typically range from $200-$500. In the case of senior dogs (6+ years), fees will be waived to the right home. This includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if necessary). In the case of designer breed dogs, like French Bulldogs and English Bulldogs, the adoption fee will be significantly higher in order to offset the costs associated with their surgeries, or associated with their demand. Thanks so much for your interest, and we hope we are able to match you up with your next family member!!! Looking forward to your application!!!

Story
WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Hi! My name is Tommy! ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL? I’m a boy! 💙 HOW OLD ARE YOU? Somewhere between two and three years old. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? I am a big, beautiful Mastiff mix. HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? About 100 pounds WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I’m tan with a black mask and it looks like I’m wearing eyeliner. I am a stunningly handsome gentleman, if I do say so myself! 😍 WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? It is safe to say I am not picky. I will eat anything you offer, but I also understand that it is important to watch my weight due to my size and the pressure on my joints, so I shouldn’t overindulge! 😊 WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I’m a little timid toward new things and people, which is pretty typical of my breed. I have been told that I am a little bit like a headstrong teenager who needs to be given boundaries to understand that I can’t jump up on people. If I do jump up, I am responsive to gentle corrections and I am trainable if you have patience with me. DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: My perfect day consists of food, naps, a nice walk, and lots of playtime with my doggy friends. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? All of them, but especially my bones, like a Nylabone, Benebone or a good sturdy Kong. 🦴 DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? I am a smart boy! I know sit, shake and down. I also know where my bed is if you tell me to go there. I’m working on stay. 🤩 WHAT SCARES YOU? I am uncomfortable with strangers in my house and I do not do well with lots of people and activity like parties. I prefer quiet and not many people coming and going. If there is a lot of activity, I am happy to hang out in a safe space, like a crate, with a yummy bone or treat-filled Kong toy. HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? I need to be in a home without children, neither in residence nor visiting. Kids are unpredictable and don’t understand boundaries. I get nervous when kids get in my space and that is just not a situation you want to put me OR a child in! DO YOU LIKE CATS? No cats for me…🐱 HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I love, love, love other dogs. 🐶 IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? Oh, I love to lay on the couch next to my human. I am happy to do whatever you like to do. A nice quiet night hanging out at home is pretty much my idea of heaven. HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I’m a perfectly healthy boy! 😁 WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom and dad, and there are three dogs here too! My foster mom is my closest companion, and I like being with her because she keeps me safe, feeds me, and gives me lots of cuddles. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I dig my crate. It’s like a man cave! WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? Also in my crate! 😴 DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? I love walks! I’m very well-mannered on leash. 🦮 DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? I know I mentioned this before in the earlier questions about my personality and my fears, but I want to make sure to explain myself clearly. I am SUCH a great guy, but I need someone who is experienced with large breed dogs that can give me the structure and support I need to live a peaceful, happy life. If I get mouthy when I get stressed or excited, I need you to understand that I am not being aggressive, but I do need to be given proper guidance to settle down. I don’t want kids coming around me when I have a toy or a bone, I don’t want to be overwhelmed with lots of people loudly partying around me, and I don’t want strange people coming in and out of my space making me feel insecure. If I am in a quiet, low-traffic home with one or two favorite humans (and a dog or two would be cool too) loving me, I will be the best boy you could ever want. ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED (DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)? Yes I am! DO YOU LIKE WATER? I was able to play with the hose before a bath one time, that was a lot of fun! And bath time was so relaxing-I’ll do spa day anytime! As for sprinklers…I’m not sure about them yet. They’re a little intimidating.💦 WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? I love that they love me! What more could a guy want, right? They take such good care of me and understand that I am sensitive and make me feel safe and comfortable. WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? I don’t really remember any of that. Because life is so wonderful now, it’s about moving forward and not looking back. Now I am really looking forward to finding my forever family who understands my large breed temperament and will keep me in a safe environment. I really am worth it… I promise! 💖 ⭐️TOMMY’S ADOPTION FEE IS $100⭐️ If you are interested in TOMMY please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas. Story
Potter is a special needs pup with hydrocephalus; he needs a family that will keep his head safe and be ok with his developmental delays. WHAT IS YOUR NAME? My name is Potter, Hydrocephalus Superhero. ARE YOU A GIRL OR A BOY? I’m a little boy. HOW OLD ARE YOU? I was born around January 28, 2023. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? I’m a French Bulldog. HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? 18lbs WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I am a cute, little guy! I’m white and brindle piebald, whatever piebald means. I have a little arrow marking on my forehead and white frosting on my ears. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I like moist kibble and dog-friendly treats. I’m not too sure about the carrots or apples that my foster mom offers me, but if you gave me some chicken or other tasty dog-friendly food from your plate, I would probably gobble it up! WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? Well, I’m not sure if you know, but I’m kind of a big deal! And all the things that make me different are the same things that make me special. I’m sweet and spunky and living in the moment is my style. I am playful and love to wrestle and chew on my foster brother Tater. I’ve been told I can be kinda demanding; sometimes, I fuss and bark to let you know I want attention, food, or need to go potty. Sometimes, I howl when I’m in my carrier or crate because I want out! But I settle down easily. DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: My perfect day starts with a “good morning, Potter” and scratchies from my foster mom. Then I do a big stretch, go potty, and get ready for breakfast. Sometimes, I go back to sleep for a bit afterward. Once I’m up, I’m ready to play, explore, and find something to chew on like my Benebone. I eat lunch and nap. I spend time chilling, playing tug-o-war, maybe have another nap, and more exploring. I take my medication at 7:00 p.m. sharp and start my bedtime routine of chewing a yak stick, and then snuggle and sleep. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? Anything to tug-o-war and my yak stick. If you let me, I will nibble your fingers and toes. Sometimes I wrestle the dog bed and drag it as far as I can! DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? No, but I know my name and I come when being called. I’m not sure about learning more. WHAT SCARES YOU? Sometimes loud noises and sudden overhead movement can be scary. I’m little, so people standing over me make me cower or try to get away. HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? DO YOU LIKE THEM? Yes, but because I can’t play rough and need to be safe guarded, it’s best if I am around older kids that understand. DO YOU LIKE CATS? I don’t think I’ve met a cat, so I am not sure. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I LOVE other dogs. They are fun, but being around gentle dogs that are not too big, who won’t knock me over, or squish me, is safer. IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? Hanging out with my person or forever family doing whatever they’re doing. I’m easy going. HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I was born with Hydrocephalus. I have no idea what that is, but like I said, I’m a superhero and I’m gonna live every day to the fullest. Hydro makes me wobble around, unsteady on my feet, and fall over, but it doesn’t slow me down or stop me from having fun! Humans must be careful with me and ensure my head is protected as much as possible. Other than that, I’m great! Did I mention I am kind of a big deal? WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom and my foster brother. I love them both! I really like my foster brother because he lets me chew on him. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I stay in my very own X-pen with toys and a fluffy bed to lounge on, access to my food and water, and plenty of room to potty if I need to. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I sleep on my comfy bed in my very own penned area – you know, superhero style. Sometimes, I fall asleep with my foster mom and magically wake up in my bed. I think it must be one of my superpowers. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? The most important thing for me with walks is that I won’t be going on any walks on the hard pavement. I’ll probably be more of a explore and stumble around on the soft grass kind of guy…. In case I fall over. DO YOU HAVE ANY "NOT-SO-GREAT" HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? FOR INSTANCE, DO YOU BARK OR DIG IN THE YARD? Um, I like to bark demands and do mischievous stuff, like tear up my potty pads when bored… I don’t think that is so bad. ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED? (MEANING DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE) No, I go potty on potty pads and sometimes I just go wherever I happen to be. I might be able to be potty-trained, but you’ll have to be very patient with me. DO YOU LIKE WATER? Only to drink and for bathing. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? I love that they protect me, are patient and kind, play with me, and love me. I’m living the dream. WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? I was born different, so some nice ladies rescued me and brought me from far away to NorCal. Now, I live in a wonderful foster home and my future is wide open… Did I mention I am kind of a big deal? If you’d like to have a superhero in your life, I am SO ready to love you forever! **Potter's adoption fee is $1,000.00** If you are interested in adopting Potter, please jump on our website and read why about the adoption fees for special breeds BEFORE filling out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time, we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas. WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Hello! My name is Cairo. HOW OLD ARE YOU? I am two years old as of April 2024. HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? I weigh about 95 pounds. WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I am tall, dark gray and sinfully handsome, with absolutely mesmerizing large gray/light brown eyes! WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I am very happy with kibble and love apples. I am a very healthy eater! WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I am the sweetest gentle giant! I am super shy at first, and can be a little nervous about new things. However, once I get comfortable in my surroundings, I get really playful and cuddly! And I definitely love my quiet time to snooze in peace. Overall I am just a low-key, lovable introvert DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY My perfect day is pretty simple: good food, good friends, and good naps! I'm not one for adventure so staying home and just enjoying my big backyard is the best! WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? I love chew toys! My favorite is the Benebone. Yummy! DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? I am pretty good at sit, down, and paw to shake. I also will use my paw to ask you nicely for attention, like belly rubs! WHAT SCARES YOU? My shyness makes me a bit uncertain about many things. I may take a week or two to warm up to a new place, once I know what and where everything is. I am so happy my foster mom is patient with me as I adjust to new things! HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN, DO YOU LIKE THEM? I am naturally very kindhearted and gentle. However, due to my size, a home with older children, or no children, may be a better fit than with small children. DO YOU LIKE CATS? I have ignored cats that I have come across while in foster care, but I have not lived with any. So no cats please. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I LOVE other dogs, big or small! IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD WHERE WOULD IT BE? I would be napping on a quiet beach somewhere in the Caribbean. But I'd settle for a large backyard with a kiddie pool! HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I am very strong and healthy. No issues! WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? My sister, Cleo, and I live with our foster mom, foster grandma, and four other small dogs. We love to play and spend time together. My favorite human is my foster mom, of course. She shows me patience and understanding, and gives me toys and treats and food! She is the best! WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I am crate trained, so I nap in my cozy crate when I am home alone. I love having my crate as a safe place while I acclimate to new places. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I love to steal my foster mom’s bed for my daytime naps, especially if foster mom naps with me! But I sleep comfortably in my crate, too. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON THE LEASH? I am not comfortable with walking out in the big scary world yet. I don’t mind the leash, but until I am more confident, walks are a bit overwhelming. DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT, FOR INSTANCE DO YOU BARK OR DIG IN THE YARD? My foster mom says I like to hog the bed during naptime, but I have no bad habits! I don’t bark excessively, don’t chew on things I am not supposed to…foster mom said she’s so pleased with what a good boy I am! ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED? Yes, I am house trained. DO YOU LIKE WATER? I LOVE water! I get excited to play in the water, and I tolerate baths, even though they’re not as much fun as a kiddie pool! WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? I love that they let me be me, without crowding me or pushing me to be an extrovert like my sister. I may be shy and quiet, but I do love my humans and the cuddles they give me. WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NOR CAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? Cleo and I were found roaming the streets all by ourselves. My shyness may stem from that situation, and that is possibly why I am not thrilled about taking walks outside of my safe space. But I am growing more confident each day, and I would love to come to your home to experience a fun new life of love and cuddles with you! **CAIRO’S ADOPTION FEE IS $200.** If you are interested in adopting CAIRO, please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time, we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas. WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Hi, my name is Bilby! ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL? I’m a boy! HOW OLD ARE YOU? I’m approximately two years old as of August 2024. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? I’m a little bully mix. HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? I’m 33 pounds of handsomeness! WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I have a tan/light brown coat and white chest. My back looks like there is a little brindle pattern close to my rump. My head is so cutely round that my foster mom nicknamed me “Meatball.” WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I like to eat anything my human gives me – peanut butter, blueberries, kibble, you name it and I’ll probably like it. WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I’m an easy-going, sweet boy who loves to be close to my human. I don’t have separation anxiety, I just like being around people and other dogs when I can. DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: My perfect day is waking up and immediately going outside to walk around and potty. I then come inside for a yummy breakfast and mid-morning nap. I get to go on a walk at lunch time and play in the yard before another nap after having a yummy treat. When my human is done with work, I like to play with my stuffed animal and end up snuggling with my human on the couch until dinner. I also love taking rides in the car, it’s so fun (especially with a pup cup involved)! WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? I like playing with Benebones/chews and stuffed animals. DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? I’m working on my sit, stay, and leash etiquette – just the basics! WHAT SCARES YOU? I’m a brave boy and not much scares me! HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? I have not been around children, but seem to get along with just about anyone/everyone. DO YOU LIKE CATS? I have not been around cats. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I love other dogs! I don’t mind them trying to play with me, and I also leave them alone when I want quiet. IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? I would be curled up on the couch getting belly rubs from my human. HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? Aside from a limp due to a previous injury to my front left leg, I’m a healthy guy! WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom and my three foster (dog) siblings – I love all of them but especially my puppy friend Jasper who likes to play with me. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I curl up with a cozy blanket in my crate while I’m home alone. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I sleep in my crate. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? I do like walking short distances on my leash and am a very polite gentleman! DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? Meal time is my FAVORITE time, which makes me urgently barrel through the door to my crate so I’m learning patience. I also like to howl at meal time, which is more funny than a bad habit, according to my foster mom. ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED (DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)? I am fully house trained – no accidents and I’m excellent in my crate when I need to be napping! DO YOU LIKE WATER? I’m not the biggest fan of water but I’m not scared of it. I am alright with being in a bathtub, but I am definitely not built for water activities, so please keep me safe around pools or large bodies of water. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? I love having a routine and having foster siblings to cuddle with. My mom works from home, so I am able to be around humans and dogs. They love me, take care of me, and keep me safe. I especially love when my foster mom gives me treats! WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? I’m not sure what my life was like before, but I know I was in the shelter after being hit by a car. NorCal Bully Breed Rescue saved me and now I am ready to find my forever home! I would love to meet you so you can fall in love with me and we can cuddle and play forever! ⭐️BILBY’S ADOPTION FEE IS $300.⭐️ If you are interested in adopting BILBY, please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time, we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas (which means Sacramento County, parts of El Dorado County and parts of Placer County).
