Hi, I’m Rufus, and I’m here today because someone believed my life was worth saving. Hound Mix | About 5 yrs old | 60 lb I’m gentle, sweet, and one of the lucky ones! I was at risk of euthanasia at another shelter, but the director here at FCAC stepped in and gave me a chance… a chance to live, to heal, and to finally find a family who will love me. The shelter I came from said I arrived with another dog, so it’s suspected that I’m dog friendly. Here at FCAC, I haven’t shown any reactivity toward other dogs at all. We haven’t officially tested me with dogs yet, but I am reactive towards small dogs and cats, so I will probably do best in a home without small animals! I had a pretty bad skin infection, but I've been treated for it and I’m feeling so much better! I just need some good-quality food and a little time for my fur to grow back in full and shiny again. I’m ready to leave my past behind and start fresh with someone who sees how special I am. Thankfully, a kind person stopped and brought me to safety… and that’s how I ended up here. I’m very shy, but underneath that nervous exterior is a sweet, gentle girl who just needs a little time and reassurance to feel comfortable. I can be flighty when I’m unsure, so staying on a leash or having a securely fenced yard will be important for me.
