Story
Meet Rufus, a 5-year-old mixed breed who is long overdue for a home and someone to call his own. Hound Mix | About 5 yrs old | 60 lb  Rufus originally came to FCAC from another shelter that ran out of space. When he first arrived there, he was in rough shape with a painful skin infection and patchy fur. After treatment, and a proper diet, he’s healing beautifully and his sweet personality is finally shining through!   Rufus is friendly, loving, and full of personality! He can be a little reserved at first, which makes sense… he’s been through a lot. Once he knows you’re safe, he’s gentle and incredibly easy to love. Here’s what else you should know: Allergic to chicken — he does best on salmon-based food May need allergy meds (which FCAC can provide even after adoption!) Dog friendly with dogs closer to his size Needs a home without cats, small dogs, or small animals — he has strong hound instincts Expected to do well with children Rufus has been waiting far too long, and he deserves a family who will give him the comfort and stability he’s missed for so long. He’s healing, he’s hopeful, and he’s ready for his next chapter. If you’ve got room in your home, and in your heart, Rufus might just be your dog.   Neutered | Microchipped I Heartworm & Lyme negative | Current on vaccinations & preventatives | Adoption fee is FULLY SPONSORED thanks to a generous donor.    Interested in meeting and possibly adopting? Please start by submitting an application here: https://www.fultoncoanimalcenter.org/application-to-adopt-a-dog   Once submitted, staff will review your application. If approved, we'll reach out to schedule a meet and greet! If you have other dogs, they'll need to come as well to ensure compatability.   If it’s a good fit, you may take your new best friend home that same day! Story
NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS! AVAILABLE 2/18 Hi… I’m Cassie. Approximately 1 year old | 69 lbs | Labrador mix with a big heart and an even bigger future ahead of me. I’m a sweet girl. A little shy at first, but once I realize you’re kind, I melt. I came to the shelter when my family had to move and couldn’t take me with them. I was born and raised in one home and honestly… I didn’t see much of the world outside of it. Everything was familiar and safe there. So now I’m learning. I had a fenced yard, so I was never on a leash before. Wearing a collar feels new to me. Walks are new. Big new places are new. I wasn’t really socialized the way most puppies are, so I’m starting from scratch in some ways. But I promise I’m trying. I’m dog friendly and I really enjoy other dogs. The shelter staff thinks I should do well with older kids too. I haven’t been tested with cats yet, but they’ll update everyone once they know more. I may need a little help with potty training and basic manners. When I get excited, I sometimes jump. I just get so happy. I’m still very much a puppy at heart and I’m looking for someone willing to teach me structure, boundaries, and routine. The kind of home that understands I’m not behind… I’m just learning. The best part about me? I’m incredibly sweet. I want to please. I bond quickly. I have so much potential just waiting to bloom. With a little guidance and consistency, I know I’ll be an amazing addition to almost any family! If you’re looking for a gentle soul who just needs someone to show her the way, I’m right here.   Spayed, Heartworm & Lyme Negative, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention. Adoption fee is $100   If you are interested in meeting and adopting, please submit an application here: https://www.fultoncoanimalcenter.org/application-to-adopt-a-dog   Once submitted, staff will review your application during open hours. If approved, staff will contact you to schedule a meet and greet! Any other dogs in the home must come to the meet and greet. Some dogs may require all family members to come to the meet & greet as well!  If it's a match, you can take home on the same day. Please allow 24-36 hours for a response, depending on the business hours in which you submitted your application. Story
Hi… I’m Max. About 5 years old | 77 lbs | American Bulldog Mix Once you get to know me, you'll see I have a really gentle heart. I came to the shelter after my family had to move and couldn’t take me with them. My story has a few question marks, but what I can tell you is I’m house trained and overall pretty well mannered. I can be shy at first. New places and new people make me pause and take things in. But give me a little time and I warm up into a sweet, loving guy. I’m not chaotic or over the top. I’m calm. I’m observant. I bond deeply once I feel safe. I seem to do well with other dogs. Cats are still unknown, but the shelter will update once they learn more. I’d likely do well with respectful kids. I’m not looking for a loud or overwhelming life. I’m looking for steady. Kind. Consistent. Someone who sees the quiet dogs and understands we love just as deeply, sometimes even more. If you want a gentle soul who will choose you every day once he feels secure, I’m right here.   Neutered, Heartworm & Lyme Negative, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention. Adoption fee is $100   If you are interested in meeting and adopting, please submit an application here: https://www.fultoncoanimalcenter.org/application-to-adopt-a-dog   Once submitted our staff will review and then contact you to set up a meet and greet! Story
Hi, I’m Tank. I’m about 5 months old and an Australian Cattle Dog mix. Right now I weigh around 20 pounds, but I’m still pretty underweight. When I first came to the shelter with my sibling, we were both very skinny. Food hadn’t always been something we could count on.   I’m learning now that meals come every day. That I don’t have to scarf it down. That I don’t have to fight for it. That it’s not going to disappear. I did show some food guarding with my sister in the beginning, but that came from being unsure and feeling like I had to compete to survive. I’m very young and adaptable, so with time, consistency, and proper guidance, I’ll learn that food is no longer a limited resource.   Other than that, I’m exactly what you’d expect from a young puppy. I’ll need structure, boundaries, and consistency with potty training, crate training, and basic manners. I’m still figuring out how the world works. But I have so much potential.   Right now I’m doing well with other dogs, cats, and children. Because I’m still so young, positive socialization and clear leadership will be really important to make sure I grow into a confident, balanced adult dog. What I learn now will shape who I become. I’m smart, observant, and eager to bond. With the right guidance, I’m going to be an incredible dog. I just need someone willing to put in the time to show me that I’m safe, loved, and never going to go hungry again.   If you’re ready for a puppy with a big future and an even bigger heart, I’m ready to grow up with you. Neutered, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention. Adoption fee is $140   If you are interested in meeting and adopting, please submit an application here: https://www.fultoncoanimalcenter.org/application-to-adopt-a-dog   Once submitted our staff will review and then contact you to set up a meet and greet! Story
NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS! AVAILABLE 2/4 Hi, I'm Blaire! 1 year old | Labrador mix | 35 pounds I’m just as sweet as I am adorable. I’m a petite girl with a friendly personality, a gentle heart, and lots of love to give. I came to the shelter with my dad (Labrador) due to changes in our owner’s life circumstances, and now I’m ready to find a family of my very own.   I’m very friendly, dog friendly, and I do great with kids. I enjoy being around people and other dogs, and I have that happy, social lab energy. I’ve never been around cats before, so I haven’t been tested with them yet, but the shelter will update once they know more.   I’m mostly potty trained, though I may need a little extra guidance as I continue learning. My previous owner shared that I still had an occasional accident and sometimes chewed on things, but that’s pretty normal for a young girl like me. With consistency, routine, crate training and some patience, I’ll shine!   I’m young, adaptable, and full of potential. I’m the kind of dog who could fit into almost any family and grow right alongside you.   If you’re looking for a sweet, friendly dog with lots of love to give, I might be the perfect match for you   Spayed, Heartworm & Lyme Negative, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention. Story
Hi, I’m Bub. I’m about 3 years old and weigh 88 pounds of classic Lab personality. Big, happy, and always ready to be part of the action. I came to the shelter after my family had to move and couldn’t take me with them. I was raised in a home where I didn’t get much exposure to the outside world, so a lot of things are brand new to me. I've never really walked on a leash before and wearing a collar is something I’m still getting used to. My whole life I was used to my fenced in yard, so structure and routine are going to be important for me as I learn how to navigate this big world. The good news is I absolutely love people. I’m very friendly, affectionate, and thrive on attention. I’m the kind of dog who wants to be near you and involved in whatever you’re doing. I’d likely do well with respectful kids who understand I’m a large, enthusiastic guy. When it comes to other dogs, I seem friendly with female dogs but I’m not very fond of other male dogs, so a home without male dogs would likely be the best fit for me. I haven’t been tested with cats yet, so that’s still to be determined. I’m your typical happy go lucky Lab with energy to burn and a heart full of potential. I’ll need guidance, boundaries, and consistency to help me polish up my manners, but I’m eager to learn. With the right person, I’m going to be an incredible, loyal companion. If you’re looking for a big, joyful best friend who just needs a little direction and a lot of love, I’m ready to meet you. Neutered, Heartworm & Lyme Negative, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention. Adoption fee is $100   If you are interested in meeting and adopting, please submit an application here: https://www.fultoncoanimalcenter.org/application-to-adopt-a-dog   Once submitted our staff will review during open hours.
