Story
Hi, I’m Maple!  6 years old | 55 lbs | Lab mix   I’m not the loud one.I’m not the one jumping at the kennel door. I’m the one sitting calmly… waiting. And if you stop for even a second, I’ll lean into you & roll over for belly rubs like it’s my life mission (and give you the softest little kisses!) I love people   I’m that perfect middle ground people are always searching for: Calm, laid back, and well mannered Still playful, but never overwhelming Gentle, affectionate, and incredibly loving Happy just being close to my person I’ve done well with kids and have lived with another dog before. If I have a dog sibling, I’d do best with one who is calm, respectful, and not in my face all the time.Honestly though… I’d be just as happy being your one and only  I do need a home without cats, small animals, goats or sheep… Set me up for success, and I’ll be everything you’re looking for. Spayed, Microchipped, Heartworm negative, current on vaccines and prevention   Spayed, microchipped, Heartworm Negative, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention. Adoption fee is FULLY SPONSORED by Nubiano's Pizza! Maple did test positive for Lyme Disease and completed her month long treatment of Doxycycline here at the shelter. She has also been given a Lyme Vaccine, and should continue to receive one yearly throughout her life; as well as be kept on tick/flea prvention all year long.   If you are interested in meeting and adopting, please submit an application here: https://www.fultoncoanimalcenter.org/application-to-adopt-a-dog Once submitted, staff will review your application during open hours. Please allow 24-36 hours for a response. If approved, we will contact you to schedule a meet & greet! Any other dogs in the home must come along and some dogs may require all family members to come as well! If it's a match, you can your new dog home the same day. Story
Hi… I’m Rufus. I’ve been waiting since November.. 5 years old | Hound Mix | 60 lbs If you ask the staff here, they’ll tell you I’m a REALLY good boy who’s just had a rough life. My life changed pretty suddenly. When my owner went to jail, the home I knew disappeared. I ended up in another shelter with the dog I used to live with. He got adopted… sadly, I didn’t.  When I first arrived there, I had a pretty bad skin infection and my fur was missing from allergies. That shelter helped me get treatment and put me on the right diet. Now, I’m finally starting to feel like myself again. When that shelter ran out of space, I was transferred to FCAC so I could have another chance. We just never dreamed my chance would take this long...    Because the truth is? I'm a good boy. I’m gentle, loyal, loving, and I bond closely with my people. New people can make me a little nervous at first. After everything I’ve been through, I just like to take a little time getting to know someone. But I warm up pretty quick. And once I do? You'll see I’m really sweet and affectionate. Some things you should know about me: I walk nicely on a leash and I love car rides & playing ball! I’m allergic to poultry, so I need food and treats without chicken, turkey, or duck. Salmon based food works best for me. It is believed my skin infection caused hair follicle damage, so my fur likely won't grow back.  I previously lived with another dog, but would really love being your one and only! Because of my strong hound instincts, I need a home without cats, small dogs, or other small animals Loud little kids make me nervous, so a home with adults or older, respectful kids would be best for me What I’m really looking for is someone patient. Someone who understands that sometimes the best dogs are the ones who just need a little time. I’ve already waited a long time for my second chance. Maybe you’re the person who finally gives it to me.   Neutered | Microchipped I Heartworm & Lyme negative | Current on vaccinations & preventatives | Adoption fee is FULLY SPONSORED thanks to a generous donor. I also come with a FULL YEAR OF HEARTWORM PREVENTION (a $100+ value!)   Interested in meeting and possibly adopting? Please start by submitting an application here: https://www.fultoncoanimalcenter.org/application-to-adopt-a-dog   Once submitted, staff will review your application. If approved, we'll reach out to schedule a meet and greet! If you have other dogs, they'll need to come as well to ensure compatability.   If it’s a good fit, you may take your new best friend home that same day! We also offer a 2-week foster-to-adopt trial period to ensure it’s the right match for everyone.   Adoption Hours: Mon & Sat: 11 AM – 4 PM | Tue & Fri: 11 AM – 5 PM | Wed: 11 AM – 6 PM | Thur & Sun: CLOSED ##2579899##

Story
Hey, I’m Reba!  1 year old | Mixed Breed | 55 lbs I'm a sweet girl with a whole lot of love to give. I was found as a stray and sadly no one ever came looking for me. But that just means my real family is still out there somewhere. One thing you should know about me right away… I LOVE people! Like really love them. If you’re looking for a dog who is happy to see you, wants to be close to you, and thinks humans are pretty much the best thing ever, then we might just be a perfect match. Here’s a little more about me: Very people friendly and affectionate Has done well with male dogs We expect I could do well with older, respectful kiddos A little too interested in kitties! Monitoring interactions and setting boundaries will be important if there are cats in the home.  Food is a big deal to me. I likely didn’t always know when my next meal was coming, so sometimes I feel the need to guard it. Because of that, my future family should understand that I need space while I eat. Feeding me in a crate or separate room away from children/people/other pets & keeping high value treats/toys put up is highly recommended. With positive training I can continue learning that food doesn’t have to be something I worry about protecting.    The good news? I’m still a young girl with tons of potential! With the right guidance, structure, and love, I’m going to blossom into your loyal best friend. Here’s what would make me happiest: A fenced yard or daily walks to burn off my young dog energy Mental enrichment and fun things to learn Continued socialization with people, other animals and places Working with a trainer who can help me build good habits I’m a loving, smart, loyal girl who just needs someone willing to invest in me. And if you give me that chance… I promise I’ll give you my whole heart. Spayed | Heartworm & Lyme negative | Current on vaccinations & preventatives. Adoption Fee is $100I also come with a FULL YEAR OF HEARTWORM PREVENTION (a $100+ value!)   Interested in meeting and possibly adopting? Story
Meet Rusty! 10 months old | Mixed Breed | 45# Friendly, happy guy Loves people Loves to play ball Crate trained   Rusty is a young guy who's always ready to play, especially if you’ve got a ball in your hand! He’s friendly and likes the company of people.   He previously lived with two female dogs and did great with them, so he may do well with the right canine companion! However, Rusty thinks thinks small animals are very fun to chase.. He has not shown aggression, but he does have a strong chase instinct, so: A home without cats, chickens, or small animals would be best OR an experienced owner who can confidently redirect and manage that behavior   He is crate trained and doing well, but may still need some guidance and consistency with potty training as he settles into a new routine. Rusty would thrive in a home that will: Keep him active and engaged Continue his training and structure Give him lots of attention and playtime   If you’re looking for a fun, people-loving dog who’s always down for a game of fetch… Rusty might just be your guy   Neutered, microchipped, Heartworm & Lyme Negative, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention. Adoption fee is $100 If you are interested in meeting and adopting, please submit an application here: https://www.fultoncoanimalcenter.org/application-to-adopt-a-dog   Once submitted, staff will review your application during open hours.
