Story
Toby can be a very loving dog. Loves to go on walks, loves car rides, and loves to cuddle at the end of the day. Toby isn’t so great with other animals. He would do well in a household with no other animals and no kids either. Toby tends to get very anxious and when he does he tends to show it by biting people. He can be a very loyal dog. Once he loves you he always feels like he has to protect you. Even when you don’t need it! He just needs to be with someone who will be patient with him and love him! All he wants is to be loved!!!

Supporters and Recurring Giving Donors will be put on our VIP Application List &#226&#128&#139 Adoption Costs and other important information. If you are interested in adopting from Sterling Animal Shelter, please submit an application through our "Pets for Adoption" page.  We are still closed to the public, and all adoptions will be scheduled by appointment only. Our appointments are scheduled by matching our applications to our available pets. If your application is chosen, our staff will contact you to set an appointment for a meet and greet to spend some time with the animal one-on-one. We do still have same day adoptions, and if your meet and is successful, you can take your pet home at the time of your appointment.  To find the best match for each pet, we prefer to have the entire family present when doing an adoption. If you have a dog at home already, please be prepared to bring your resident dog to meet a potential new dog, to ensure all parties get along. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet. Adoption Costs and other important information. Supporters and Recurring Giving Donors will be put on our VIP Application List &#226&#128&#139 April 19, 2024, 9:53 am

Story
Supporters and Recurring Giving Donors will be put on our VIP Application List &#226&#128&#139 Adoption Costs and other important information. Rocket is a one year old boy who came to us from our rescue partner in Marshall, TX.  Rocket loves other dogs but does not get along well with cats.  Rocket will sleep in his crate but he has also broken out of a crate to chase the cat.  He has a bit of separation anxiety and would benefit from living with someone who is home often.  He is considered medium energy and is housetrained.  While he gets along wonderfully with other dogs he should be fed separately.  He is great with kids and he is friendly and lovable with all people that he meets.   Rocket has recently tested positive for heartworm and is starting treatment for that.  We are looking for a foster-to-adopt situation for Rocket where he is still close by so he can return to our shelter for his treatments. If you are interested in adopting from Sterling Animal Shelter, please submit an application through our "Pets for Adoption" page.  We are still closed to the public, and all adoptions will be scheduled by appointment only.
