Story
🤎 Meet Poncho – A Gentle Soul Seeking a Second Chance 🤎 Poncho is a 3-year-old neutered male Chihuahua with a tender heart and a story that deserves to be heard. He found himself at Washoe County Animal Services along with his two pups, Great Prince and Thumper, after their owner was incarcerated and could no longer care for them. In March 2025, Chihuahua Rescue Truckee Meadows stepped in to rescue Poncho and his little family. While his pups have been adjusting, Poncho is still slowly warming up. His ordeal left him feeling fearful and unsure, and he continues to carry some trauma from his sudden change in life. Poncho wants so badly to shine. Beneath his worries is a loving, gentle boy waiting for the right home to help him feel safe, loved, and understood. He needs a quieter environment where he can grow at his own pace and learn to trust again without pressure or chaos. ✨ Could you be the one to give Poncho the patient, peaceful home he so deeply deserves? ✨ Give him a chance, and he will show you just how special his love can be.

Story
⚡️ Meet Volt – The Little Clown Who Will Light Up Your Life! ⚡️ Volt is a 1.5-year-old neutered male Chihuahua with an electric personality and playful spirit. While he was somewhat worried during his time in the shelter, once he came to Chihuahua Rescue Truckee Meadows, his true colors began to shine – and he quickly became the clown of the pups! Volt absolutely loves to play keep-away with his toys. He’ll bring them back for another toss, then zoom off with a grin as if to say, “Catch me if you can!” 🎾 His joyful energy is infectious and will keep you laughing every day. While Volt is very friendly, he does seem to be somewhat untrusting of males. However, with food motivation and positive reinforcement, he will likely overcome this hesitation in time. In the shelter, he allowed staff to put on and remove his little jacket and loved sitting in their laps while they worked in the office. Volt will also happily sit in his foster parent’s lap when he’s had enough playtime – he just needs people who respect his signals and give him space when he says he’s had enough. ✨ To Volt, life is all about toys, play, and fun! Could he be the playful companion you’ve been waiting for? ✨ Volt is ready to find a forever home where his silly, sweet personality can shine. 🐾

Meet Buddy! Buddy is a spirited 12-year-old Beagle-Terrier mix who was owner-surrendered in January 2024. He’s full of energy and very particular about the dogs he interacts with, so he’d thrive best in a home without other pets. Buddy loves long walks and would be an ideal hiking partner—as long as he stays on leash! His keen Beagle nose might get him into mischief if he roams free. Buddy had a dental in February 2024, is current on vaccinations, and is ready to bring lots of fun and companionship to his forever home.
