Story
In Minden, NV - Hello world, I am “Ollie” or Oliver, from the Reno/Tahoe area. As you can see, I am a beautiful four-year old blue merle, 49lb purebred Aussie. I am UTD on all the things and am neutered. A few things about me: I love to snuggle and am very affectionate. I enjoy playing fetch and tug. I do not like a crate and am pretty demanding about sleeping in bed with my human—you’re welcome for the extra warmth. Did I mention I’m snuggly? I just got the cone of shame off so my foster says she is going to start crate training me but we will see. I am smart but stubborn and have spent my first four years living in a muddy backyard doing whatever I wanted. I had to entertain myself as I was neglected. Before coming to my foster home, I had never met anyone outside my immediate family, never met a cat, never been to the vets (thank god—I hate them!), or been to the groomers. I got shaved recently because I was matted to the skin and now I look silly so here is a headshot. I have no tail and a cute wiggle butt. I am 10/10 handsome. I am what they say, “under socialized.” That said, I am learning super quickly and I am pretty decent on a leash now! I am an expert at asking for belly rubs, too. It took me exactly one day to love and trust my foster mom, and about three days to trust my foster dad. My foster mom likes to stick her face in my face and ask for kisses, no thank you ma’am, but she said the first day she thought I might bite her. I do give off scary warning vibes when I am scared. Because of this, she wants my new parents to put on the muzzle she’s trained me to wear when going out in public or even when strangers come to the house. I probably won’t ever bite but this is insurance. I hope you have a quiet house and like to chill. I am pretty content just hanging out and going for walks. She also said I am rude to the neighbor when I lung- bark and so a privacy fence or large property is ideal for me. I have been working with a professional trainer who said I should continue to work on my sit/stay so I don’t barge through doors and thresholds. But she also said I am very dog friendly and would do well in a dog home. I seem to get along better with female dogs because my foster brother dog doesn’t like me for some reason; that’s on him though—I am cool. The trainer said I am very submissive and sweet. The foster dogs’ have taught me to eat bones to help my teeth and to play with toys—all new to me! She also said I take redirection very well. I sound pretty great, don’t I? Just to be clear, I need a special home. I require: Slow, patient, fair and firm parents. No bad tempers, please. I am sensitive and I am hand shy and will require a slow introduction. For you to promise to put my muzzle on me when we go places or when guests come over. It's for my own protection. A yard with a privacy fence, or acreage, or a yard where the neighbor isn’t next door all the time (you get the picture) A home where my people want to stay home and cuddle. I am not a take around town kinda dog A home with a healthy, stable, nice dog pack, or a no dog home. Probably no cats (I see them and am curious but I haven’t really met them so untested) and even though I liked the kids in my first home, I am hand shy, so no kids. If you have dealt with a special dog like me before, that’s ideal. I need a sedated dental cleaning which is $600-1000 depending on your region. My teeth are horrendous from having had a poor diet and no bones my whole life. You can try brushing but my foster thinks I need a proper cleaning. Transportation potentially available for the right fit family. Guest room available for those traveling and want a training session with the trainer. So, I hope that is you!! I deserve to be pampered and spoiled. Here is the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to my new furever family.
