Story
I have two dogs as you can see from the pictures, one male and one female. I'm an older man recently widowed and just can't handle them. They have way too much energy for me. They're good dogs just a bit too energetic. They were trained on pee pads when we got them and I've just not been able to break them from that. I really would like them to stay together as they have never been separated since birth. I just really hope I can find them a good loving home. They are going to be two years old in April

Story
This is Copper he is a Labrador and Australian shepherd mix (we got him DNA tested to confirm). He is an amazing dog and we love him so much! He is great with other dogs and cats and all other animals. The only reason we have to rehome him is because he gets snappy with my two year old son growls at him and has even snapped to bite him. My son is the first kid he’s been around and it is heart breaking to have to make this decision. He was amazing with my son up until two months ago. Copper is up to date on all shots and has never had any health issues.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Piper is a very sweet 2 year old girl.  She is a parvo survivor who loves to give kisses, play in the snow, and eat. Piper still has some puppy energy and needs to be able to run around and play. She is a very smart girl who learns quickly. When Piper came into foster, she was very timid. She has learned that she can trust people but does startle at times. Her ideal family would be one who would provide consistent positive reinforcement. She has met a few kids and thought they were pretty cool. She loves to play with her canine foster brother. She thinks the foster kitties are very interesting and loves when they spill their tasty food. She would need supervision when meeting new cats as she's a bit too forward for the liking of some felines. Piper is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.All animal breeds and ages are a best estimate March 27, 2024, 12:05 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Woody is about a year, maybe a year and a half old. Weighs roughly 15 lbs.  He is a good mixture of super playful and binge watch t.v. shows energy with his humans. When it comes to playmates he can play ROUGH. i need to stress this as he will growl and bark and some dogs could easily read him wrong. BUT, I really think he needs a young playful dog to hang with and has made a few doggy friends in the past couple of months that match his energy  He can be a little hoarder with new toys and it takes him a little while to want to share them. He was quite a bit sheltered in his previous life and new things can be scary to him. With some redirection and patience he has been doing great. He is still scared of the dark and small children. He LOVES to play with older kids and Im thinking maybe 6/7 and up would be good for him. He does not like to be in his crate and would require someone who maybe is a stay at home parent or works from home? When left for long periods he can get stressed which can lead to throwing up. He has always liked our cats and even gets along with our old grumpy one. Its been a non issue from the get go. He does pretty well on a leash but will bark at people outside (bikes, passers-by, neighbors). So that needs to be worked on still. I think a fenced yard would be great for him but he would be able to climb a chain link and he will dig given an opportunity so he will still need to be either walked on a leash or someone will have to watch him outdoors. He is potty trained but does not alert when needing to poop so we have kept him on a schedule of pottying after meals which has worked well for the most part. He does have some barrier aggression when there is a dog outside a gate or his crate. It has never gone further than his growling/barking but It sounds super scary when he is doing it which has made for interesting introductions to new dogs. (He will still growl at his best friend if she approaches when he is in his crate) (it is completely workable just wanted to prepare any new adopter to this behavior). He usually warms up fast to new people in the house. He is a little lover boy. Car rides. We haven't been able to do much with car rides with him. My only concern here would be that he was secure before any doors open as he moves very fast and I would be concerned he would bolt out a door. Car seat and seat belt maybe? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Health: Hooch is a resilient pup with a (nearly) clean bill of health.  He's  recently completed his heartworm treatment, courtesy of the rescue, and will soon undergo his final heartworm test to clear him completely, then neutering. With a shiny coat and a robust physique, Hooch is ready to embark on his journey towards a forever home. Personality: This charming fellow is a bundle of joy waiting to brighten someone's life. Hooch is the epitome of a  companion; craving snuggles and affection from his human and dog friends. Hooch's playful demeanor is infectious; whether  he's  tossing toys around or engaging in a game of tug of war,  he's  sure to keep you entertained. Despite his high energy bursts, Hooch also knows the value of downtime, readily curling up on the couch for a cozy snooze.  He is happy to follow the vibe of the house when  it’s  down / calm time versus play time. He will also follow the lead of other dogs, so if you have a more energetic pup,  he’s happy to keep up. But if you have a more chill dog, he will be curled up right next  to them for playtime. Disclaimer, he does need a dog that plays SOME or he will just annoy them trying to get them to play. Training: Hooch  is  crate trained and understands the cue "Go to bed." Additionally,   he' s  housebroken and will let you know when nature calls by heading to the door. While   he' s  got sitting down   pa t , his perpetual wiggles add a touch of excitement to the task. Hooch is a breeze at the vet and can be left alone without wreaking havoc, making him an ideal companion. Hooch does enjoy stealing shoes from by the door, but just  tosses  them up in the air over and over, not to actually destroy / eat. Background: Hooch's journey  hasn't  been an easy one. Abandoned and left to fend for himself, he was discovered emaciated and tied to a tree. Thanks to the intervention of The Karens,  a Detroit based outreach group,  Hooch found his way to  Ho use  Of  Hounds Rescue,  wher e  he's  been thriving ever since.   We  don’t  know a ton about his history, but do believe at one point, someone loved him.  He’s   sociable  and  doesn’t seem to be fearful of raised hands or loud noises.  We’re guessing he lost his  original  owner due to financial hardships or health issues and  then  ended up in the wrong  hands. But that is just a guess! Opportunity for Improvement: Hooch is still working on his boundaries with both people and other dogs. He has so much love to give but  doesn’t understand the concept of personal space. Additionally, and probably one of his bigger “areas of opportunity” is desire to steal food.  It’s hard to blame him for being starved, but we’re working hard at keeping all four paws on the ground and off the counter/table. Next Steps: If you're considering adding Hooch to your family, the first step is to submit an application for a meet and greet. Despite his past hardships, Hooch's heart is full of love and he's eager to find his forever home. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out – we're here to help facilitate the perfect match.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.All animal breeds and ages are a best estimate March 27, 2024, 12:05 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Little Bear! He is a beautiful 2 year old blue ticked beagle looking for his forever home. He is a small guy but has the appetite of a dog 5x his size.  Like most hounds He is food crazy and uses his nose to sniff out every crumb, and he takes his job of cleaning up food his two year old human housemate drops very seriously.  If you are looking for a dog who understands personal space, then he is not for you. His ideal state of existence is laying in your lap and receiving pets. He is a big snuggler and ideally would love to sleep in a bed snuggled up with his human. We have him sleep in a dog bed in our room, and he does stay there all night with slight protest.  He is an active 2 year old and incredibly fast. He plays fetch with toys, but i haven't seen him play with them or chew any yet. He knows sit but he hasn't learned any other commands yet, but he is incredibly smart, and i know he will learn quickly.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.All animal breeds and ages are a best estimate March 27, 2024, 12:05 am
