Athena is an active velcro dog who stays by your side whether you are indoors or spending time outside. She loves playing fetch and tug-of-war but also entertains herself with her favorite toys or chewing on her favorite bone.She does well without a crate, including during work hours and overnight. Loud noises like thunder, fireworks, and bug zappers can make her anxious.Athena takes a moment to warm up to new people, but once comfortable she becomes a loyal protector and best friend.Due to her size and strength, she is best suited for a home with older children. She would do best in an only dog home or with larger male dogs, as she has shown aggression towards 1 of our female dogs due to alpha traits.Athena's vaccinations are up to date until 8/29 and she was spayed on 8/17/26.We have had Athena since 1/2/26, 2 days before her 1st birthday, and we are heartbroken to say goodbye to her. She needs a safe home, sense of purpose and an endless supply of ear scratches and belly rubs.

Story

Theta is about 4 years old. She is a very sweet dog. We only need to re-home her b/c she has attacked my other dog a few times. 99% of the time, the 2 dogs are best buddies. The aggression has mostly been over food so we separate them for that. But this last time was for no reason. She is quite good with kids but she does still jump a lot and she is big. I have kids and she has been great with them! My youngest was 11 when we got her. She needs to be with a family who can deal with a large dog who runs and jumps a lot. With the food aggression, she has growled at us over food, but only ever as a warning. She needs a family who understands that they can’t try to take her food away. More training may help with this. Sadly, we are not able to get that training. She loves to be outside. She needs a fenced in yard or someone who can walk her multiple time an day and train her better to talk on a leash. With training, she would be very good on a leash.

She loves playing ball and carrying around a plush dog toy.

Her owner had passed away and other family members didn't want this beautiful girl, so she landed in the shelter...😞...That must have been so hard for Honey, as she is loyal, level headed, affectionate, playful and dog friendly...😞...Anyway, a couple of months ago, the rescue coordinator at the shelter called us and asked us to save this sweetheart and we couldn't say no...❤ Honey is about 8 years old, weighs about 65 lbs and would love nothing more that to go on hikes with her family, play with her canine friend in a nice fenced yard and then snuggle on the couch with her people...She will do best in a home with another playful dog (She like the boys...😉), older children and a family who is home more often than not...Honey is sooooo ready to be in a loving home...❤...Can you find it in your heart to make her dreams come true? ...If you live in the Northeast OR Texas, please fill out an adoption application and we will reach out to you promptly...🙂...Honey's adoption fee is $500, which includes complete vetting, new bed, harness, collar, bone, medical record, microchip, food for transitioning and transport.
