Story
Abby came to us in 2014 maybe a year old. She is sweet and gentle and loves everyone. My husband recently died and care of dogs has been challenging. She needs to get exercise and a walk every day helps her burn off extra energy. She loves to run after balls but won’t bring them back! She has a sister Chuaua and they get along great.

Story
Meet Lucy *THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING* Meet Lucy! She’s a great girl looking for her forever home. We’re guessing she is a Heeler mix and she has the energy and drive to back that up. Lucy is happiest when she has something to do and is given plenty of exercise. She is used to 2-4 miles per day, but did even better when she was getting 6. She’d make a great running or hiking companion and is good on a leash, but can be reactive at times. Rides very nicely in the car or back of a truck and loves going on adventures. She was crate trained for almost 2 years, but has refused it for the past 10 months. Lucy is gentle and good with kids when she is paying attention, but sometimes forgets and may knock a little one over. She chases even the most confident cats so that needs to be considered also. A home with plenty of room to run outside would be ideal. She gets bored and finds trouble when she’s left alone indoors for long periods. Story
MEET NICKEL Nickel is an 8 month old shepard mix rescued near the Semiahmoo resort near Bellingham WA. He and his brother Dime, along with their mom Penny and her brand new litter of 11, were rescued and brought into the care of Happy Tails fosters around the end of April. Nickel is a sweet and loveable goofball who aims to please and loves pets. He is very food motivated and has been a joy to train. He is great with other dogs and will continue to learn how to behave and live with cats. He is easy to correct and will be a great dog to train and grow with. Nickel has been an off leash roam around free dog for most of his life but has quickly adapted well to living in a home and getting better and better on the leash. Nickel would do well in a loving home environment with an owner or family that has the time and capacity to train him and help him continue to grow into a great dog. His mom was a shepherd mix around 40 pounds and so he should be a great family size dog. If you are interested in providing a forever home for this sweet and playful guy, please fill out an application at happytailshappyhomes.org.

Story
Stella is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so she is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. A family observed Stella being pushed out of a vehicle and abandoned. They took her in and were planning on keeping her since she was such a great dog - being good with their dog, cats, and chickens. But their first dog did not like Stella and attacked her, so Stella had to go. Stella is microchipped and we discovered that she was adopted from a shelter in Greenville SC. The adopter moved to Texas and told us that they had "rehomed" her. Stella is a yellow lab/chow mix (she has the purple tongue of a chow) and she weighs 80+ pounds. The microchip data tells us that she is 6 years old. Stella is a very good dog. She was understandably scared of our other dogs at first but she is now okay since she knows they won't hurt her, and she has just started to play with some of them. Stella has not shown any interest in toys or chew bones, but she loves treats. Stella is also content to lay in the yard or in the house and loves pets, scratches, belly rubs, and human attention. Stella is fine with cats and chickens. She has no interest in them. Stella is house-trained and very well-behaved in the house. She will whine when she needs to go outside. Stella rides well in a vehicle, sits on command, and comes when called. She likes to go on walks (but pulls on the leash sometimes). Stella could use some additional gentle obedience training. Stella needs a few days to learn to trust new people and unfamiliar situations but treats quickly make things better. We recommend that Stella only be around older children who know how to behave respectfully with dogs. Stella must be in the house as a loved member of the family. She needs to be walked on a leash and would like a securely fenced yard to sun herself and go potty. Stella is healthy. She is spayed and tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Stella is heartworm-negative and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Stella's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Kent, Arlington, or Bellingham WA. Stella is being fostered in Texas and cannot be transported until after she is adopted. Story
Clifford. is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Clifford was dumped on the side of a rural road with a litter of puppies. They were rescued by good Samaritans. Clifford is a super wonderful dog. He is very sweet and good-natured. He is a beta and almost all of the other dogs love him. Some of the little male dogs like to intimidate him but he simply tries to ignore them. He is very playful and loves playing with all of them. Clifford has shown an interest in chasing cats, so he may not be good with them. Clifford is mostly Chow. He weighs around 60 pounds and we estimate he may be around 2 years old. Clifford is crate-trained, knows how to sit, and walks well on a leash. He rides well in a vehicle but is a bit nervous about getting inside the vehicle. Clifford is fabulous with children. He is a bit shy with new people (especially men) and takes some time to trust. We are sure he was abused by whoever had him before. Clifford does need work with housetraining (sure he has never been in a house before) and could probably use other gentle obedience training. He gets scared when someone yells or talks in a mean voice. Clifford must be in the house as a loved member of the family. He needs to be walked on a leash and would like a securely fenced yard to run and play. Clifford is healthy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Clifford has been treated for heartworms and they are now dead. He is on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Clifford's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Kent, Arlington, or Bellingham WA. Clifford is being fostered in Texas and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Story
Gypsy is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so she is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Gypsy came from a bad home. She was not being fed and was severely underweight. So the people surrendered Gypsy and her puppies to animal control to avoid animal cruelty charges. We had Gypsy DNA tested and the results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited and we now know that comes from the Boxer in her. Gypsy is around 4 years of age and weighs 70 pounds (she only weighed 35 pounds when we got her). Gypsy is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog I have ever seen. Gypsy is fairly active. Gypsy loves to run and play with her toys and she especially loves squeaky toys. Gypsy loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot. She gets excited about squirrels and cats on the other side of the fence. Gypsy does well with all dogs but gets along best with male dogs. She is normally good around small dogs but will occasionally mistake one for a toy when she gets over-excited. So she is not recommended for homes with small dogs. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with children. She can sit and comes when called, She is crate-trained, house-trained, and otherwise very well-behaved in the house. She could perhaps use a bit more obedience training with someone that is firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is very sweet. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. She must be in the house as a loved member of the family and would like a large yard with a 6' fence to run and play. Gypsy is healthy. She is spayed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. We used the slow-kill method (we are happy to explain this) and she is now negative for heartworms and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Kent, Arlington, or Bellingham WA. She is being fostered in Texas and cannot be transported until after she is adopted.
