Story
Hello there! My name is Aleck, and I have an incredible story to share with you. Rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea in 2021, I narrowly escaped a life of unimaginable hardship. Now, I'm ready to embark on a new chapter filled with love, joy, and endless tail wags. Here's a little more about me: Breed: Jindo mixAge: 5 yearsGender: male    Weight: 51 lbHighlight(s): Calm, Happy, Rarely Bark Despite the challenges I've faced in the past, my heart is full of love for humans. I'm a social pup who isn't shy around strangers - in fact, I quickly warm up to new faces and love making new friends. Even at the vet, I approached the nurses with confidence, eagerly accepting treats and showing off my friendly personality. I've been staying in a foster home since last March, and let me tell you, I've settled into home life perfectly. I'm completely house-trained and have no issues with separation anxiety. When my foster mom goes to work, I patiently wait for her to come back so we can go on our walks and have fun together. Whether it's a cozy condo or a spacious house, I know I'll fit right in and make myself at home. I get along well with other dogs, especially with gentle female pups. While I may be a bit reserved around male dogs, I'm friendly and enjoy saying hi and sharing space with my furry friends. I'm not much of a wrestler, but I love exploring the world and going for walks. I get so excited about our outdoor adventures that I voluntarily hop into the car because I know it means more fun times ahead. Recently, I even got to dip my paws into the sea water for the first time - what a thrilling experience! I do have a strong prey drive, so it's important to keep me leashed and away from cats, squirrels, and bunnies during our walks to keep everyone safe. I'm looking for a loving and understanding forever home where I can continue to heal and thrive. If you're an experienced pet owner who can provide a secure environment and help me manage my prey drive, I think we could be the perfect match. Let's shower each other with affection and create lasting memories together. I can't wait to find my forever family - could it be with you? Let's find out! Energy Level: I have a moderate energy level. I'm very calm at home. I like to chill out or take a nap. It doesn't mean I don't like walks. I love walks! I'm not nervous in new areas. I'm curious and adventurous. I get along with:Dogs: YesCats: No Kids: Yes Fears: Unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition. I haven't shown any signs of separation anxiety and I don't have escape tendency. Leash skills: Yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes. Please be prepared to help me learn where to go in my new home. Health notes: I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1823851##

Story
I am currently in Greater Vancouver!Update from Foster: I continue to be a loving dog who greatly enjoys cuddles and playtime with my humans. I am working on my confidence with new people I meet as I am still recovering from the awful treatment I received as a puppy. I love playing with dogs who are kind to me and I look forward to getting to know my new adopters. I can live in a family with another dog but only if I get to know and trust them first. I would like a yard but as long as I'm near pleasant walking areas, a home without a yard would be fine too. Are you perhaps my new human?  Hana is a very sweet and affectionate girl who loves to cuddle and get pets. She loves to play with toys on her own and loves to chase balls, but still hasn’t figured out how to bring the ball back. She is very quiet and is housetrained. She eats her meals without any hassle. Oddly enough, she doesn’t like peanut butter, but loves roast beef! She is very easy to walk on a leash but can be fearful of other dogs that get too close. She is best suited for a home without any other pets but hopefully, with patience and training, she can improve her social skills with other animals. Here is some info about me:Breed: Dalmatian/Lab mixAge: 3 yrsGender: fe, spayedWeight: 28 kg/ 62 lbsHeight: 62 cm/ 25-1/2 in HISTORY: My rescuer saved me when I was only 5 months old. A crazy man chained me to a tree and was beating me, because I ate his chicken. I was sooo hungry. They had no idea how long I was in that horrible situation, but no one helped me. It was actually my rescuer's friend that first saw me, but she was afraid to approach the angry man to stop him. So she called my rescuer and they both went together and hid until the guy left. Then they went and unchained me to bring me to safety. I was so weak I couldn’t walk on my own. They had to carry me to their car. They took me to the vet and amazingly, I didn’t have any broken bones and no severe injuries from being hit. I was of course very weak from hunger and had no energy to walk. I received an IV injection and came home with my rescuer who cared for me til I was healthy again.  Time for my very own home now though. Don't you just love my freckled fur? I am super friendly. Also, quite active and playful. I've got dancing feet, hip hopping all over. Life is so joyful. I enjoy being around other dogs as well as people but I usually need a bit of time to get to know them first. However, where I live is an abandoned area, where many other dogs are living with me. My rescuer comes to feed us as often as possible, but it is not daily nor as much food or as good a nutrition as we need. We are safe there though. So, I await you being my next hero and saving me and bringing me to Canada for a truly good life. Couple more vids: https://youtu.be/pRTkwNKJEEU, https://youtu.be/ICU-O5fn2aE. Energy Level: moderate Get along with:Dogs, yes Cats, unknownKids, unknown Prey drive: unknown, not observed with cats, squirrels, rabbits, etc... URGENT! Due to a new law enacted in my country, the rescuers can't retain the refuge, so all us dogs need homes before the end of the year. Please help. Good day. I'm ELLA (Bella) and here is some info about me:Breed: Golden Retriever/Labrador mix (Austrian Pinscher/Lab)Age: 1 year oldGender: FemaleWeight: 44 lbsHeight: bit under 24 inchesCountry of origin: Republic of GeorgiaHighlights: Friendly, playful, timid, cautious, sweet, quiet I'm a playful girl, who is still just a puppy at heart. You'll find I am a loyal pup, who just needs time to bond.Rescued from a forest outside a major city, I was with my friend, Taylor (also posted), who had a severed tail. The rest of my litter and my mother were seen in the vicinity, but they were frightened and ran away. I stayed by Taylor’s side for protection, so was the only puppy rescued from my family. Come to find out we are half sisters. Same momma, different daddy. We were taken to the vet clinic, where I was treated for malnutrition and basic care. Once we were stable, we were transported to our rescuers facility where we began our path to recovery.Taylor and I tend to sit on the sidelines when there are activities and games with the other shelter dogs. The boisterous, young labbies are a bit much and bully us a bit, since we are passively vulnerable yet. We have separate playtime and sleeping areas from them thankfully.I am a bit more active and playful than Taylor. Taylor sleeps on a small sofa, whils they give me a blanket to sleep on the floor, because I pull the stuffing out of dog beds and cushions. I likely do this either because I am still in my puppy stage, or it could be in reaction to the overcrowded environment at the refuge. Iimagine time in a relaxed home of my own will end up alleviating that. While a bit timid yet, I am playful with Taylor and small or older dogs, though occasionally I will nip at a smaller dog. I hardly ever bark. I too am a little wary of unfamiliar humans and dogs yet and will run away if pursued. I would do best with non intimidating dogs. I am currently in progress on leash training. Story
Helloooooo Canadaaaaa! My name is Kyros and here is some info about me: Breed: American Pitbull TerrierAge: 8.5 yrsGender: maleWeight: 28 kgs/ 61lbsHeight: tbd Witnesses saw me being dumped from a car on a busy highway. Terribly shameful thing for someone to do. Thank goodness my rescuer saved me. After my rescue, my old owner was identified and my rescuer discovered that I lived most of my life (5 years) tied outside a garage... through cold winters and hot, hot summers. I lived neglected and tossed away. Horrible again. I was adopted within 6 months after being rescued from the side of the highway. My owner and I bonded very well and had some great times together! He was showing me kindness and helping me to trust and learn some rewarding behaviours.  Unfortunately, he suffered a sudden heart attack and passed away. So sad. After that, I was placed in a paid boarding facility, where I am extremely depressed and barely eating.  I am an extremely loyal and protective dog. I often get depressed and stop eating if I am not with a human for a long period of time. I warm up to, and bond with people very quickly. I stay close to my human and give them a lot of sloppy kisses and love. I can be trained easily once I trust the person. My motivations have been verbal and physical praise and attention-- show me love and I will follow your command! I was initially reactive towards all dogs, but with training and some socialization from my previous owner, I was able to approach female dogs in a playful way without reacting. See my video. Though still not friendly with male dogs at all (have a bite history with a male dog). I will never be the dog who can be left off-leash in a park, but with proper training and leadership, I can be a very good dog and loyal companion! Through the work my owner had done, I can walk past barking male dogs (with a secure fence separating us) without flinching (before I was adopted, I used to lunge and pull right away), but if one of them crosses a line and annoys me, I will still lunge and snap at them. If my training is resumed, I'm sure I can improve further. I showed definite improvement with someone taking the time to work with me. The best home would be one without young children or other pets. I will do well with 1.5 hours of walking per day and around 30 minutes of running or tug play. It would be ideal to be in a home with a fenced space for off-leash play, since I cannot be left with other dogs. It would be grand if I could go to a Pitbull knowledgeable home. We're truly an amazing breed! ENERGY LEVEL: Moderate I GET ALONG WITH:Dogs: ok with females (on leash only.) Not friendly at all with males.Cats: unknown, but not likelyKids: unknown. I greet kids (7-10 yrs) during walks, but have never lived with one. I seem friendly and kind with them during walks. Should be monitored. PREY DRIVE: High FEARS:none that my rescue mom knows of! I do get jumpy if someone does a lot of sudden movements around me due to my abusive history. TRAINING: someLeash skills – I am leash reactive, so will need continued work on this. My previous owner was teaching me how to walk nicely on the leash, but I still pull a lot!House trained – I was in a home before, but need a refresher!Other tricks – sit and stay HEALTH NOTES:I am fully vaccinated and neutered. I am also microchipped! My adoption fee is $650.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. I would likely fly through Montreal, see extra costs below. Hi, I’m Dodie and I’d love to tell you a bit about myself! Breed: Chihuahua / Spitz mixAge: 7 years oldGender: FemaleWeight: 30lbs / 13.5kgHeight: 40cm / 16inCountry of origin: Middle EastHighlights: Tripawd, zesty, cuddly, grateful for life, loyal companion You'll find me to be an incredibly sweet-natured dog.  I've been told my face is adorable, and I can make humans laugh with my little pig-like snorts when I stretch.  As a Chihuahua/Spitz mix, I'm a fiery little spark, eager to enjoy life and not let my physical handicap hold me back!   It's unknown what originally happened to me, but while living in the Middle East, I suffered an injury that broke my back and left my hind legs paralyzed.  Since coming to Canada, I have been fortunate enough to have been fitted with an awesome wheelchair that I LOVE!  I'm able to zip around in my wheels and I'm a great walking companion.  Besides my wheels, my two main ways of moving around, (and I must say I'm pretty darn good at it!) are either dragging on my side/hip or pulling myself forwards in a sort of "hopping" motion with my legs behind me. I can get some serious speed this way! I like having some rugs to walk on as it can be hard to get a grip on slippy floors. My foster mom typically takes me out for two 30-minute walks every day, and I like to take my time sniffing the flowers, watching the birds fly overhead, and checking out if there are any humans willing to pet me.  People seem to be amazed by me-- my legs may be a bit different, but my spirit definitely isn't!  Sometimes I get a bit distracted, and with a little encouragement I merrily continue along on our walk.  I love playing with other dogs at the dog park and happily greet them while out in the neighbourhood, but I prefer to be the only canine with my human(s) at home. I tend to ignore cats as long as they don`t bother me. It's fun to play with kids who are aware of my special abilities and understand how to give me time and space to react.  When treated with compassion, I'll shower you with lots of love and happily soak up all the adoration. It would be nice (but not essential) if I had a yard, or at least some safe space/grass, for me to maneuver outside without my wheelchair. I can eliminate independently when in motion, and I'd love to have access to a safe space to roam. My foster mom currently lets me outside frequently during the day to avoid indoor accidents, and I am getting much better at letting her know when I need to go. Hello! My name is Taemi, and I have quite a tale to share with you. First here is a little more about me: Breed:  Age: 1 year old (born Jan. 2024) Gender: Female     Weight: 41 lbs Highlight(s): Good with other dogs, no sign of aggression or resource guarding issue Country of Origin: South Korea I was born on January 15, 2024, in the cold winter next to a busy road. My mom was tied up outside, and no one even knew she was pregnant until kind people intervened and brought her to safety at a private shelter. I was the smallest of my siblings, but I'm growing bigger every day. My mom weighs 21kg, and who knows, I might even grow bigger than her someday! I was born and raised in a shelter, separated from my mom at just 2 months old. I learned basic social skills from my mom, who is a people dog with a great personality. I believe I inherited her friendly nature, and I'm eager to learn more about the world around me. I've recently started exploring new experiences like meeting new people, going on walks, and even riding in a car - it's all so exciting! I may have been a bit shy when I met a new person for the first time on May 25, but I'm slowly coming out of my shell. I'm good with other dogs, having grown up around 10+ furry friends at the shelter. I even came across a cat during a walk and was just a little curious, but not reactive at all. While I'm still learning about walking on a leash and getting used to new environments, I'm making progress every day. I haven't shown any signs of aggression and have no issues with resource guarding. I may not be housetrained just yet, but I'm a quick learner and eager to please. If you're looking for a sweet and curious pup to join your family and explore the world together, then look no further. Adopt me, Taemi, and let's embark on new adventures and create lasting memories together! I get along with:Dogs: yesCats: yesKids: yes (no video proof) Health notes: I will be spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped mid-July. No aggressive behaviours or resource gaurding noted. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.
