Story
My name is Lizzie. I am a stunning Husky/Boxer mix! I am a little under 60 lbs and just about 2 years old. It's kind of hard to tell in the pictures but my eyes are blue speckled. I am pretty submissive girl. I don't prefer to challenge or cross anyone but once I get comfy, I am not shy! I am also a pretty active pup. ASCZ thinks I would do great with another dog in the home so I can have a playmate to run around with and so I can take some cues from another friendly canine. It's not required but it might help me at first. I am housebroken and I love horses (yes I do - I think they are very majestic)! I am a really great leash walker even when just wearing a collar. I am calm and walk right by my humans side. Now, there is always room for improvement but I am pretty awesome at this skill. Also, I am good with cats and kittens. I don't bother them and I respect if they give me a swat. This goes for all dogs of all sizes and ages. I live with big dogs and tiny dogs. As I said before, I don't want to challenge them so if they give me the "what for," I relinquish! I have a great energy about me - I would be a fantastic hiking companion and perhaps even a jogger! Oh and I am a good car rider too! If interested in learning more about me, here is a link to the application: https://asecondchanceforziva.org/adopt/adoption-process-application/

Story
Age: 2 Years Sex: Male Size: Medium Good With Dogs: Possible Good With Cats: No Good With Children: Yes Hoagie was a day away from having to be euthanized before coming into our foster program. Hoagie is a happy go easy husky. He has had a rough few months. Hoagie was surrendered to the shelter with a fracture in his left leg. He was limping, but not in visible pain. The origins of the fracture are murky, as the owner didn’t realize there was an issue for a number of weeks. It is possible that it was a result of a gunshot wound when the owner had his home broken into and was himself shot. Whatever the origin of Hoagie’s injury, by the time he arrived at Sedona Shepherd, the bones were already in the healing process. The surgeon who physical examined Hoagie and his X-rays, determined that it would be best not to have surgery. Her recommendation was continued rest and medication for the next 3 to 4 weeks to allow the leg to continue to heal. Hoagie is now enjoying his time in one of our foster homes. After a day of explaining the rules (furniture is not for marking), Hoagie settled in nicely to his home and is respecting his boundaries. Hoagie is so excited to meet new people. We try to keep the enthusiasm down to a minimum so he doesn’t hurt his leg. Hoagie is friendly with young and old people alike. According to his shelter records, Hoagie did live with another dog. He appears to want to greet and possibly play with other dogs, but we have to hold off on the play until he is fully healed. If you like to have a fun dog, then Hoagie will be a perfect match. He is located in northern New Jersey and available for adoption. For more information on Hoagie please reach out to us at contact@sedonashepherd.com or fill out an online adoption application.   Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary's mission is to rescue adult and senior German Shepherd and Shepherd mixes and find them loving homes.  All of our dogs are fully vetted and up to date on all their shots Our adoption area includes New Jersey, Delaware Valley, Manhattan, Southern New York and Eastern Pennsylvania.  We may adopt to Connecticut depending on circumstances.  Please visit our website at www.sedonashepherd.com. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rocco was adopted as a puppy and returned to the shelter 14 years later as a senior dog. An overcrowded inner city shelter is no place for a senior. They are more susceptible to infection and he quickly developed kennel cough which led to pneumonia. He has been two months with us and has made an amazing recovery.  Our veterinarian says he is in great shape for a 14 year old. His cough is gone and his lungs are clear. if you have ever thought of adopting a senior he is your guy. He enjoys a walk and loves the car. He has had X-rays and blood work and all came out great.   He does take thyroid medication once a day and it is very reasonable. We are looking for a forever foster or adopter for Rocco. We would like to see him as an only dog so that he can get all the attention but he can be with calmer dogs. He has a bit of arthritis and is not interested in playing with more active dogs.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 14, 2024, 6:17 pm

Story
Koa is a smart and friendly girl, about 2 years old, weighing 50lbs. This beautiful girl has one blue eye, one brown eye, and the softest fur! Koa was found running up and down a busy road frantically. Sadly, it is believed that she had been dumped by her previous owners. This intelligent girl is eager to please and already knows all her basic commands, and is house trained. Koa is friendly with people, kids, and dogs (with slow and proper introductions). She is a high energy girl who loves to play fetch with her ball, hike, and play tug of war. She LOVES going for walks and has good leash manners. Koa also enjoys going for car rides - she is always down for a fun adventure! This happy girl would love a forever home with a fenced yard (6' fence), and a family that will commit to providing her the daily exercise/stimulation that she needs. She would enjoy going to doggy daycare or having family members who work from home, and another playful dog that she can spend time with. Koa is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped.  If you would like to adopt this sweet girl, please submit an application for her at EHRdogs.org September 18, 2024, 2:29 am

Story
Prada is a beautiful 3 year old and 50 lbs Husky! She is being surrendered to our rescue when her family became ill and could no longer give her the care she needed. Prada is a true Husky - smart, active, playful and friendly. She does well with people, children, other dogs and even cats. Although she would need to be fed seperately, as she does not like to share her snacks. Prada would do well in an active home with an experienced owner. She is house trained and looking for a family of her own.  Prada is up to date on vaccines, chipped and her adoption fee is $415. apply to adopt PRADA NJ at www.ehrdogs.orgSeptember 18, 2024, 2:29 am
